Scobee and Jackson in Twitter disagreement

You could understand why Eagles fans -- not to mention the team’s coach -- would be upset by DeSean Jackson these past few weeks.

After all, he slept through a Saturday special teams meeting, leading Andy Reid to bench him in Week 10, and then last week, after making a 50-yard reception, he flipped the ball to Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, drawing a personal foul penalty and losing the entire gain.

But you know the moment you’ve really crossed the line? When another team’s kicker comes at you sideways on Twitter.

Scobee tweet

On Sunday, after Jackson’s ball presentation to Fewell, Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee tweeted the following: “Desean Jackson is a punk. #growuputinybastard.” To further clarify his thoughts, Scobee then wrote: “Relax people. He’s just a punk which means to me he doesn’t respect anyone or anything around him. Therefore I don’t respect him.”

On Tuesday, Jackson finally got around to responding, and he didn’t take to Scobee’s opinion all that kindly, writing, “This man @joshscobee is Waaaaaaay outta LIne!! Stick to ya Own business.. Mind ya own!! I don't respect what u sayin.. Lil Boi status.”

Jackson tweet

As the Big Lead points out, the tale of the tape if the two ever got into the boxing ring favors Scobee, who’s 6-foot-1 and 192 pounds compared to Jackson’s 5-10, 175-pound frame.

On Monday, Scobee backtracked by writing, "Shouldn't have called Desean Jackson that, I used the wrong words to try and make my point."

Maybe in order to settle this, Scobee could attempt really long field goals, and if they fall short, Jackson could attempt to run them back for touchdowns. Other than that, this is just a good ol’ Twitter feud that, unlike Osi Umenyiora vs. LeSean McCoy, is likely to end sooner rather than later.

Scobee and Jackson in Twitter disagreement

To all those who think Scobee is out of line as a kicker: how many times have fans called a player a punk, a crybaby, a loser, or something else along those lines? At least Scobee plays the game.

The comments on this thread are highly amusing. Jackson is a hot-dog, there's no doubt, but he's a KID. He will mature overtime. As for the play against the Giants, yeah I hate that kind of stuff, I prefer no-nonsense athletes. But I've seen way "worse" post-play celebrations not get flagged. People are getting all caught up in the fact it cost the Eagles 50 yards, but I don't think that flag should have been thrown to begin with. But yeah, heitert's got it right. Scobee is a kicker, and he should stick to the business of kicking, not taking pot-shots at a true athlete in his own sport.

That's pretty hilarious, actually.  It's one thing to be called out by a direct opponent, a coach, or even the media.  But to be called out by the Kicker of a team that doesn't even play in your conference (much less your division)?  That's how you know you've got a league-wide reputation now (and not a good one).

The real irony of course comes in the offseason, if the Eagles are tired of it and drop Jackson.  Because you know that the Jags will be in the market for some playmakers to surround Gabbert with...

DeSean Jackson is what's wrong with young players today. Full of self-entitlement for absolutely no reason. What has he ever done? Nothing. Earn your stripes, man. You would NEVER see Jerry Rice do that. Even Michael Irvin, who did some idiotic things, would never have done that. Scobee is right. Jackson is a punk!

Jackson is a punk.  The exact same thing I told my son as we watched that crap he pulled when we watched the other evening.  I understand the emotion of the game but what he did was pure selfishness.  He cost his team 50 freaking yards!  Why ruin an outstanding play with a minor league stunt.  Please.....act like you have actually done it before.  Act like Walter Payton, or Barry Sanders, OJ Simpson....oh wait, don't act like OJ.  But you get my point.  I am so tired of these idiots trying to show up their opponent and act like they are freaking gods.  Scobee is 100% right and D Punk now has to look in the mirror and know that of all people, a kicker on a crappy team has called him out for being a piece of crap punk.  Good luck getting the money now you fine example of a team player!

Well since D jackson has made his contract issues public and misses practices and holds out, wouldnt that make it everyones business to comment on it? If u dont want people talking about you then stay the hell outta the papers and do u job. Theres prob 200 plus players who wanna say what Scobee said, Jackson is a punk and would never get a top 5 wr contract when u pull crap like he has been Just play and get your stats, you woulda got paid by Philly or someone else.  He pretty much signed his papers outta philly and look at the the last 15 years, besides for Moss-Owens- what other top WRS have had a good career with another team???
