Report: Ndamukong Suh called Goodell to apologize

Ndamukong Suh's been subject to plenty of judgment following his ejection-worthy actions against Green Bay in Detroit's Thanksgiving day loss.

The defensive lineman initially said he wouldn't apologize for stomping at Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith, but reversed course by posting an apology on his Facebook page. And Suh also reportedly called Roger Goodell to apologize for his actions on Sunday night.

That's according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who reported the details of Suh's phone call on Monday evening.

Of course, Suh's apologies might not matter -- it's believed that the Lions defensive tackle could receive as much as a two-game suspension, and it seems likely that Suh only apologized to mitigate the danger of a multiple-game suspension.

That's because Suh, immediately following the Lions loss, wasn't exactly contrite about his actions.

"I was on top of a guy being pulled down," Suh said, according to CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco. "I was trying to get up off the ground. You see me pushing his helmet down because I was trying to remove myself from the situation. As I'm getting up, I'm getting pushed, so I'm getting myself in balance and getting away from the situation. I know what I did and the man upstairs knows what I did."

The visual evidence offered a story quite to the contrary, and it's no surprise that Suh was ejected. On the bright side, it's also possible, as CBS Sports' Charley Casserly pointed out Sunday, that Suh's punishment will be shortened because he missed part of that game against the Packers.

Either way, there's likely to be a heated debate about Suh's punishment if the league delivers the news on Tuesday, as expected.

Report: Ndamukong Suh called Goodell to apologize

A couple questions for some people on these boards.  How do we know that Suh didn't apologize to the player he stomped on?  Do we really believe that EVERYTHING is published or reported on and that players tell us everything they do on a daily basis?

And if he didn't apologize to the player, do we know why?  Of course we don't....... do we get to see and hear everything that's said and done on that football field?   Of course we don't........    Michael Strahan has played a few downs in the NFL and said it best when he told us all that us fans "have no idea how much is said and what goes on" during the course of a football game.

I'll just wait for Goodell's decision..... I still say it's going to be 1 or 2 games and a hefty fine.  Either way, I think Suh will learn from this and in the long run will be just fine.   The kid is a monster football player, an unbelievable talent that's going to be in this league a long long time.

Report: Ndamukong Suh called Goodell to apologize

On july 22nd Brews & Bears writes...

I'm so sick of Manning....I live in Nashville and all the talk is the "possiblity of Manning as a Titan", what a joke, Manning is Indianapolis. Can you imagine a bigger swing in a division, Titans to the top and the Colts to the absolute bottom, not that it will ever happen. Look for Manning to have an ordinary year.....tide is turning.....new power teams coming up......Go Bears.

I'm sure you left for B-dad soon thereafter...lol Or maybe you were already in B-dad and you were just talking about back home, and friends and family are relaying "all the talk" while you're single handedly killing bad guys...lol

I'm sure you'll come up with a good one, I'm actually looking forward to it, but I'll have to read it in a few hours after I perform a triple bypass surgery. Oh, didn't I mention I was a surgeon? My bad...

Btw, thanks for your service capt brewbear!! lol...lying sack of shyt.

Report: Ndamukong Suh called Goodell to apologize

Whenever I did something wrong that required an apology, I was told/instructed/required (by parents) to apologize to the VICTIM, not to the person deciding on punishment (parents).  I learned this at the age of 4 (that way, I made it to 5 and beyond).  If I were commissioner, it would be 2 games, AND, since there seems to be a pattern here, I would suggest/require that their head coach gets a MINIMUM of 2 games (wasn't he defensive coordinator for Tennessee when Haynesworth did his monster mash?) , plus gets into shoving match because a head coach shoved him a bit too hard in celebration, plus did you see the look on his face as suh walked off the field?  Instead of being pissed they just gave the packers 4 points, he slaps him on the rear!  What a tool.  I hope the Lions get the snot kicked out of them the rest of the year, and this loser gets axed.  Then again, keep him as head coach, and the Lions will continue being the lions.... losers.

Hey redline...86th CSH Ibn Sina Baghdad...whose lying bitch?

Actually you bitch; HBO did a special on the above. What this proves is you have cable, good for you!

Anyone can write whatever they want on these boards, and experience tells me that the great men and women that serve do not bring it up unless part of the conversation or topic, nor do they make those they serve with look like fools or degenerates. Those that serve are humble, fairly quiet about who they are and what they do, and they most certainly do not make themselves out to be john rambo or harry callahan.

Ergo, you are an idot and a liar, so run along and play army with your neighbor mikey....lolTongue out

Such BS if this is the case!  That should not play a role in the decision at all!  He got kicked out of the game (as he should have) and now he should ATLEAST be suspened 2 games!

The only thing Suh did wrong was to stomp on the wrong guy. He should've stomped on Rodgers. Rodgers is so overrated it's pathetic. He's a good quarterback on a great team, end of discussion.

Long Live FAVRE!

What a moron. He is like the criminal that apologizes only because he got caught. And why is he apologiziing to Goodell and not the player he stomped on the arm? This simply shows a lack of sincerity.
