New details emerge from Suh's auto accident over the weekend in Portland, Oregon (Getty Images)

Suspended Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was in a one-car accident Saturday in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. Officers on the scene determined that Suh wasn't impaired and "simply lost control of his vehicle." Neither Suh nor the two other passengers in the car were injured according to the report.

Two days later, two passengers in the car told KGW 8 Portland that Suh lied to police about the accident.

Suh's original story to police was that he was trying to pass a taxicab when he lost control of his car. The two passengers now have a different account of what happened.

“When the light turned green, he floored it,” one of the passengers told KGW. “I just remember going so fast and it was violent and just getting thrown around like rag dolls.”

The woman said she sustained injuries in the wreck including a cut on her eyebrow, black eye and a busted lip. Suh, according to reports, was among those who called 911. When he was asked “Are you sure you don’t need an ambulance?” he said, “Yes, everyone is fine.”

More details via KGW:
Yet the female passenger told KGW she did ask Suh to call an ambulance. She said he refused and told her she was fine. She eventually walked down the street and had her husband pick her up and take her to Oregon Health and Science University for treatment.

The woman said nearly 50 people swarmed Suh’s car after the crash and started snapping photos and she felt he was more worried about his image than her injuries.
The amended police report now says that there were four people in the car, not three, and that one person was seriously injured.

Still, authorities told KGW that they have no plans for issuing any citations from the accident. “At no point did anyone there tell an officer that [Suh] was driving out of control,” said Sgt. Pete Simpson. “The crash doesn’t meet our threshold for investigation which is vulnerable road user, DUI, or serious trauma injury.”

Passengers say Suh lied about car accident

No worries here.  Apparently the Portland PD will not re-open the case even though there were missing witnesses/victims at the scene who were later added to the police report, allegations that Suh had lied to the police and 911 authorities, allegations that he did not swerve to avoid a cab but peeled out from a stop and lost control, property damage, and victim injuries.  Ahhhhhh, to be a sports star.

Memphis, sorry for missing your post before I filed my last one.

I can't speak very well for redwings et al., especially since I'm not at all sure I agree with them, but I think his main point is that the woman can't be trusted because she failed to give her latest account to the police earlier when she (supposedly) had a chance.  Maybe, maybe not; as I've said earlier, I don't even know whether the police interviewed her earlier, so how much there is in that position I'm not sure.  No doubt a defense lawyer for Suh would raise some of those same points--whether or not successfully.  As to her marital status--whether married, separated, whatever--of course it shouldn't make a legal difference per se as to what crimes, if any, he committed.  What bearing any of it may have on her credibility is also unclear yet, since I'm sure that eventually she (and maybe even the husband) will come out with some reason for her being with Suh and other people at that hour.  You know the old argument: "If she'd lie about one thing, she'll lie about another!"  Maybe, maybe not.

The point is, as you indicate, that if what the woman is now saying is true, and if it were credible, it might furnish evidence of crimes that the police originally didn't prosecute, probably for lack of evidence.  Or maybe they don't believe her, either.  But it's just too early to say, one way or the other, with so many factual questions (including some that I myself raised in earlier posts) as yet unanswered.

redwings, I'm not at all criticizing you for defending him.  Frankly, I'm glad he has at least one defender on here, since having differing points of view makes for more interesting and enlightening discussion than having just one, and since you're an articulate fan of Detroit teams and of sports in general, you're a logical choice for this role.

I think we probably agree that at best he screwed up pretty badly.  As to the rest of it, including the trustworthiness or untrustworthiness of the woman or women in the car, you make good points that haven't yet received satisfactory answers, but for myself I just think it's too early to draw very many conclusions one way or another.

Have a good day.  Looking forward to seeing your hockey team in Phily in March--we finally get to play them at home for a change.

You guys are f'ing ridiculous with your reasoning.  Being married and hanging out with a celebrity means nothing when it comes to whether Suh violated the law.  Last I looked, associating with single people while married is not against the law.  In fact, having adulterous affairs with single people while married is still very legal in this country....if that were even true.  To suggest some conspiracy based on an affair is absurd.  It's like saying the girl wearing the sultry outfit deserved to get raped.  Please use common sense.  Also, Suh is looking at a lot more than a Reckless Driving charge or Failure to Keep a Proper Lookout.  If the unnamed witness' account is true, which is likely since Suh's credibility has been an issue on several prior occasions, Suh lied to the police about what happened.  He could be looking at a felony if that can be proven.

Do you einsteins think her husband would be the first one she'd call if she was doing something inappropriate? Get a grip morons...

Oh yeah sorry, I forgot.  She wouldn't call her husband after a car accident if she was doing something wrong hanging out with a famous football player at 3am.  Obviously she would much rather take the chance her husband reads about it online or maybe sees a story on ESPN.  And since it's gonna be so easy to hide this from him with court appearances and everything else that might be necessary yeah sure, if she was doing something wrong she would never call him.

How stupid are you? You insulted me??????

You've never been with any women have you?  Who else are they going to call after a big mess?  Maybe her father or brother, but generally it's the husband no matter what stupid thing she has done.  Women don't think "oh no I will get caught" because they just don't operate like that.  Her calling her husband means nothing, especially because men are pretty much SOL under US divorce laws anyway.  No matter what she has done she's going to get the house and most of his income.
