Big Ben in walking boot, thought 'leg was broken'

Pittsburgh beat Cleveland 14-3 on Thursday night, but nothing about the victory was easy. Ben Roethlisberger suffered a nasty ankle injury that looked a lot worse at the time, but eventually returned and led the Steelers to a win.

When the injury happened, though, Roethlisberger didn't think he'd be walking back out. In fact, he said after the game he thought the "leg was broken" although it turned out to just be a high ankle sprain, though he was seen leaving the stadium in a walking boot.

"“I thought my leg was broken, honestly," Roethlisberger said after the game, per our Steelers Rapid Reporter Chuck Finder. “We’ll find out how bad it is. Feels like my [left] ankle’s about to explode."

Roethlisberger also added, via Finder, that he couldn't "drop back to pass" after the injury, so his success was entirely dependent on the offensive line keeping the pocket clean for him, which they did.

Ben left the stadium in a walking boot on Thursday night and as Mike Tomlin pointed out after the game, probably going to be on the injury report when the Steelers play again in 10 days.

The good news for the Steelers is that Ben's got time to heal and, as my colleague Ryan Wilson pointed out last night, it's not like "being injured" exactly turns Roethlisberger into an unproductive quarterback.

You are a moron and your team is so bad it is funny. The reason Philly will never win a superbowl is beacause of the negativity so called fans such as yourself bring to the team. Sergio---hahahahaha--how is One Ring Manning getting along these days.  Ben has more toughness in his pinky than all the little DOLTS added together--your team stinks and you have nothing better do do than jump all over a winner and his team--go back home and watch the dvd of your one ring QB with the long neck and big head--no wonder it is taking so long for this big head to heal--what a neck line holding up this melon

Sergio, and given that the defense only gave up 3 points in 60 minutes, one TD would have been more than enough!

Learn to count: Steelers beat the Bengals twice, and Patriots once. That's 3 wins against winners right there.

The Steelers have TWO wins vs teams with winning records this season- Bengals and NE.
Sergio you are as smart as the Colts are good. They have 4 wins against teams with a winning record. That is more wins than the Colts  have against teams with losing records. Even with Manning the Colts only won 10 games last year and they only had two wins against teams with winning records for that whole season last year, just so you don't cry about not having Manning!

Looking at yourself in a mirror?!? Count how many injuries and how many games Ben has played in. Matt Stafford gets that injury, he's out for the rest of the season.

The Steelers have TWO wins vs teams with winning records this season- Bengals and NE.  Only ROAD win vs a team w/ winning record-Bengals.  Pitt better hope Ben isn't hurt too badly with Batch as his back-up.  Ben "led" his team to two TD's vs the Browns....ooooo! Impressive. lol  One TD on 1st drive..one on the last.  I think they will need a better effort vs the 9ers to "keep the pocket clean"  ....."being injured" Mr Wilson turns Ben into an average QB.
