Did you think Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow had taken over every possible aspect of your life? You were wrong -- Republican Presidential candidate and current Texas Governor Rick Perry said during the Republican debates Thursday that he wants to be the "Tim Tebow of the Iowa caucuses."

Tebow Saturation

No, really. This happened; Perry was attempting to point out that he's not a great debater (he's, um, not) but that he was getting the hand of things and he was ready to make a comeback.

"There are a lot of folks that said Tim Tebow wasn't going to be a very good NFL quarterback," Perry said on Fox News Thursday. "There are people that stood up and said well, he doesn't have the right throwing mechanisms, or he doesn't -- you know, he is not playing the game right. You know, he won two national championships, and that looked pretty good."

"We're the national champions in job creation back in Texas. But am i ready for the next level? Let me tell you -- I hope I am the Tim Tebow of the Iowa caucuses."

It's impressive that Perry's desperate wily enough to bust out a pop-culture reference in order to cull points with voters and try and make himself look cool and stuff. But if this works, watch out, because next thing you know he'll be the "Justin Beiber of New Hampshire" too.

Unfortunately, he obviously hasn't learned the lessons involved with Tebow: it's not about "not being a pretty football player." It's about having a great group of players around him, never saying things that are even remotely controversial and not forgetting basic facts.

Also, it's mechanics. Not "mechanisms."

Whatever, it's entirely likely that Perry will need a ridiculous late-game comeback to nail the Republican nomination, so maybe it's an appropriate analogy after all.

Tebow won one national championship... not two. Stop taking credit from Chris Leak and giving it to Tebow.

Hey Pimpslapped---actaully Tim doesn't do any Bible thumping at all. He lets his character speak for his beliefs. Isn't that really what we want of all Christians? Less thumping and more walking the talk. if you're feeling a pinch of conviction maybe its not Tim that's giving it to you. FYI.
Umm, painting bible verses on your face is bible thumping. I have no problem with Tim. He lives in a free society and I respect the fact that I haven't heard a condescending or exlusionary righteous word out of his mouth. I don't think he quite gets the target he paints on himself for some of his antics, but it's his choice, but I think he'll get it some day. The problem I don't have with Tim is the problem I have with you and most Christians (because your taught this way). Your projection of my "conviction" or inner emptiness, soulessness and lack of joy, without old JC in my life. I experience no void and am quite happy without him and would be even happier if you wouldn't tell me I did. Se lavie? One more thing. There is a large difference between character and beliefs. Tim has a lot of good moral character and a strong belief in a certain angle while Ghandi did as well. The only difference is that Ghandi's didn't tell you that you would spend eternity in a made up hellscape if you didn't beleive the same way. Capiche?

One more thing. As rabid as Tebows worshippers are that have come from Florida, could any of us even fathom the straight up insane holyrolling that would be following this guy if he had grown up in central or western Texas and played for TCU, A&M, or the Longhorns? And if that would have happened, you know Jerra' would have drafted him. And if that would have happened, could you imagine the Texas insanity that would be going on right now if Tebow was doing this same late game magic for the Cowboys right now? There would be a mandatory Tim Tebow prayer day written into law, a statue raised in his honor on roof of the state capitol building, the Cowboys would change their name to the Teboys, and a prayer rally in Reliant Stadium on his birthday annually, all by the end of the year. If there is a god out there, thanks for letting Tim grow up in Florida, and not Texas.

I don't think Tim Tebow would ever seek to engage in such a godless and corrupt profession as being a politician.  How would that even work anyway?

lobbyist 1: Mr. Tebow, here is $1M to assure you screw over the USA for our corporate interests.
Tebow: Isn't that bribery?  Isn't that a sin?  Won't the people of the US catch on to what you're doing?
media: bwahahaha don't worry, the people are so stupid they'll actually be violently opposed to anyone that tries to help them
lobbyist 2: Yes yes, once you're done with that, here's another $1M to screw over another segment of the population, plus after your term is over we will hire you for life at a $5M/yr salary, so make sure all the laws help us and will help us down the line!
Tebow: Wait...isn't that clearly bribery and a conflict of interest?  How is this legal?
lobbyists: bwahahaha you're so naive!  No that's only conflict of interest and bribery when normal people do it, we are above the law!
Tebow: Wow...well how do I know I can trust you?  What if you won't hire me?
congressman: Oh I overheard that, Tim, you have a lifetime pension and free healthcare for you and your family for "serving", plus that pension, along with your salary, goes up every year.  Don't worry, no matter what, you are set for life.
Tebow: Uh..I don't think we should do this
everyone: You don't go along with this, and we will just kill you, and then claim you are a pedophile to smear your name.

(Tebow prays to God): Oh Lord, please give me the power to escape this den of snakes and thieves, I do not wish to sin as these others do.

The above is actually how it works, I'm not even making up any of the lobbying and pension and healthcare stuff.  That is seriously how our political system is set up.  Crazy right?

Rick Perry: 'I am the Tim Tebow of Iowa caucuses'

"Rick Perry is a nutjob i don't trust any republican we don't need anymore war wacky right wing nuts."  --Saintsnation86

We sure don't, not so long as we've got us a fine, upstanding war wacky left wing nut filling W's shoes like they were made for him. (But, hey, he sort of, kinda, almost got us out of Iraq in maybe three weeks time less than it took Richard Nixon to get us out of Vietnam, back when the last left wing war nut was dropping trou' in the White House. Whoops! Didn't mean to confuse anybody with that "dropping trou'" thing; I was referring, of course, to LBJ, not the other, more recent Democratic exhibitionist to play at being the World's Most Powerful Member...I meant, Man.)
