The world, in case you didn't realize it, is obsessed with Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.

The latest example was Rick Perry name-checking the Denver quarterback during Thursday's Republican debate.

As if Tebow didn't have enough unnecessary controversy surrounding him, though, there's a story coming out of a New York high school, where a group of teens were suspended for Tebowing in their school's hallway.

The logic for the suspensions? The students were clogging up the hallways.

Tebowing, in case you didn't know, involves going to one knee in a prayer-like fashion during normal, daily activities. And in this case, screaming "TE-BOWWWW! TEEEE-BOWWWW!"

"Basically I took part in this to show tribute to Tim Tebow," one student said. "He's an ideal role model. He's a winner, he's a leader he has great faith. I thought eventually they would tell us to stop but I didn't expect a suspension by any means. I think it's an overreaction.

"I don't think it's that big a deal -- we're showing tribute to a role model. He's not a guy doing steroids or drugs or anything like that. He's an ideal role model. People should look up to him."

The school rescinded a pair of the suspensions, but as I understand, two students are still in trouble.

"It’s wonderful that our students look up to sports heroes such as Mr. Tebow, but we can’t allow students to create unsafe situations in school," Riverhead superintendent Nancy Carney said. "Students cannot block hallways and prevent other students from getting to class."

Not mentioned in that statement: "if I let kids go buck wild with prayer-like gestures, I'm going to get sued!"

Perhaps in the future if the students want to to imitate Tebow, they should simply run around swinging their arms through the air like they have poor throwing mechanisms or something.

Tim Tebow is nothing but 2 bit phony no ones that perfect he's right wing dirtbag who hides under his christian faith just like all republicans do.

Wow talk about a classic hater, I am not a Teebow fan as a Qb is terrible except for the fourth quarter. he has done nothing to anyone or anything to make people call him a phony. He is all over the Colorado area goes to churches helps the community. I mean there are more people who hate tim Teebow than michael vick. Oh give michael another shot he only killed 25 dogs in bruttle fashion. yet tim teebow has done nothing to anyone and you all hate him

I live in CO I was a wal-mart a fan wearing a Broncos jersey actuall said they hope Teebow gets killed, not because he is a bad footabll player, and he is, but because he prays. Reggiew White paryed, was an ordained minister. Look if hate him hate him, he never claimed to be perfect the media does, he is honest in faith, and you think that is bad to you.

It makes me ill to think that there are kids out there who treat this jerk as a role model. Whatever happened to treating your parents as a role model? This guy is a football player! Tebow is nothing more than a phony pretentious jerk.

Oh there it goes again...sepration of church and state statement.  Let me inform you.  You will not find this statement in the United States Constitution.  What you will find is this:

The First Amendment says Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I do not believe these kids were congress or you teachers are congress, let alone trying to pass a law.  BTW, let's look at prohibiting the free excercise thereof.  Are they not prohibiting these students from excercising their beliefs?  Now, you will say, "...but it is on scholl grounds." I have only one thing to say to that...what about the OCCUPY groups going around this country.  I guess it is ok for them to EXPRESS and not students.

Let me educate you teacher on the seperation of church and state.  THE US CONSTITUTION, FIRST AMENDMENT - Notice that the First Amendment puts Restrictions only on the Government, not the People!

So where did the words "Separation of Church and State." come from? They can be traced back to a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote back in 1802. In October 1801, the Danbury Baptist Association of Connecticut wrote to President Jefferson, and in their letter they voiced some concerns about Religious Freedom. On January 1, 1802 Jeffersonwrote a letter to them in which he added the phrase "Separation of Church and State." When you read the full letter, you will understand that Jeffersonwas simply underscoring the First Amendment as a guardian of the peoples religious freedom from government interference. Here is an excerpt from Jefferson's letter. . .

with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State." Read the full text ofJefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Association ..

Jeffersonsimply quotes the First Amendment then uses a metaphor, the "wall", to separate the government from interfering with religious practice. Notice that the First Amendment puts Restrictions only on the Government, not the People! TheWarren Courtre-interpreted the First Amendment thus putting the restrictions on the People! Today the government can stop you from Praying in school, reading the Bible in school, showing the Ten Commandments in school, or have religious displays at Christmas. This is quite different from the wallJeffersonenvisioned, protecting the people from government interference with Religious practice.

I urge all to research this point...it is an easy google search.  What the schools are teaching to day are not what the founding fathers inteneded for this country!

As it is in most cases concerning christianity, fear or hate prompts those who disagree to negate our freedom as americans. There is no danger in kneeling, whether mockingly or sincerely. And if these young men were sincere then I honor there boldness and pray others would be encouraged to be so as well by Tebows example.

I think these school officials are just spineless, liberal drones.  Blocking the hallway, what a joke!  It is all about worrying about "OFFENDING" all those non-Christians with students pretending they are Tebow, and down on one knee praying.  I have a couple of points to comment on.

One is that suspending students really and trully shows the extent the small liberal base will go to destroy anything labelled conservative.  They will never stop until we are all relying on the government for living, driving electric cars, kneeling down and praying to trees AND believing THEY(government) are the gods.

Next, it is with the quote I see all the time from that small liberal base.  That quote is "Well, it offends me so get rid of it."  I say, grow up and get a sphine, quit whining all the time whenever something you don't agree with offends you!  I am so sick and tired of watching people believe they have to be politically correct.

Time for the majority in this country to take a stand and quit letting these far leftists rule our lives, behavior and actions.

You democrats out there better wake up and take your party back.  It has been hijacked by these estremists.  Or do you like being governed by socialists and marxists. It is sad to see the democratic party today and think back to the way it was before.

Imitating the ridiculousness of someone else is "creativity"?  The school has the first and foremost responsibility of keeping kids safe, and it sounds as if the silliness of these kids is causing an unsafe situation.  The school is right to put an end to it.  Suspension - may be a little much - but as a teacher, I can tell you many students today have no regard for others and a punishment is in order.  Oh, and we also have a Constitutional responsibility to keep church and state separate.  And you don't think students learning social responsibility ("condums [sic] on cucumbers...") is necessary?  Look at the promiscuity of today's kids...

The liberal school officials are trying to stifle the creativity of these children.  I thought liberals never wanted to stifle creativity.   Oh except when it has to do with religion or someone religious.  Condums on cucumbers is a go though.

It sounds like both the school and the students have room for making better choices.
