Adrian Peterson thinks Saints D was playing dirty

Posted on: December 19, 2011 2:59 pm

A week after a Tennessee player accused New Orleans' D of playing dirty, Peterson does the same. (US PRESSWIRE)

By Ryan Wilson

After missing three games with a high-ankle sprain, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson returned to the lineup Sunday against the Saints to carry the ball 10 times for 60 yards. But following Minnesota's 42-20 loss, Peterson suggested that New Orleans cornerback Jabari Greer intentionally twisted his ankle one play before he ripped off a game-high 39-yard run.

"I came into the game kind of expecting that coming back from a high ankle sprain," Peterson said, according to the Times-Picayune. "Guys are going to try to take their shots when we're on the pile and try to twist it up and things like that.  "I felt like it kind of got overboard. I got up and kind of got in his face. Thank God I was able to keep my composure."

This comes a week after Tennessee wideout Nate Washington accused New Orleans safety Roman Harper of being a dirty player after he grabbed Damian Williams' facemask.

"Honestly, he's a dirty player," Washington said after their Week 14 meeting. "We watched film on [Harper], he's dirty. And I don't appreciate it, I'm going to step out in public and say it: He's dirty. That was dirty what he did, it's unfortunate that he grabbed the facemask -- at the same time you don't walk over a guy and nudge him with your knee. You don't do that. That's dirty. And honestly, that's a dirty player, flat out. This is not just one game. He's been doing it all season. And I'm tired of it. I hope the league did something about it."

During his Monday press conference, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said that Peterson came out of the Saints game "fine," which is more than we can say for the Vikings' season.

Adrian Peterson thinks Saints D was playing dirty

Seriously? I live in Minnesota and I don't recall Peterson EVER making excuses about anything. Can you come up with other examples of him whining? Reference an article? Website? I'd like to see proof before I make up my mind. Also, just because you can get away with something, doesn't mean it's ok/tough/cool to do it. Comes down to respect. Sure, play hard, play rough, play tough, but after the whistle, respect your opponent. If the Saints defense, or Greer in particular are so good, then why do they need pull stunts to try and get an opponent out of the game? Beat him when he's at his best, don't pull a cowardly move.

The Saints defense is dirty as all get out, look no further than the $22,500 fine of Roman Harper for two different infractions in the Saints game against the Titans.
Even dirtier than Harper is Nate Washington himself.  That punk tried to start no less than 4 fights in the Saints game.  Harper made a great hit on the QB but as we know, those perfect hits are now off limits; Harper simply needs to adjust from being a pro-bowl safety to Das Kommisoners new no-hitting rules.  The facemask was clearly and accident but that didn't stop punk thug criminal Nate Washington from trying to start yet another fight.  The Titans are sore losers in addition to being punks and thugs.

"Wahh.  Boo Hoo", Peterson was quoted as saying.  Everytime a team (or his own coach) shuts down Peterson he has some excuse or explanation, usually one involving dirty play by the opposition.  Harper does indeed play with a bit of a chip on his shoulder as all successful safeties do, but Greer has no reputation at all for such play.  Peterson is just blowing smoke to hide the fact that, but for one run, he had an awful day.  You want to know why they only ran you 10 times Peterson?  Because they got tired of no gains.

YOu are right rob toxin. Those guys lived for helmet to helmt and crunching the running backand quarterback. If you were wide receiver back then you get your hair messed up going accross the middle. Going back farther, how about when they used to play with leather helmets?

Petersen is right. Somebody on every defense in the league is always trying to hurt a running back. Football is a violent game, and violent people play it.
