Tony Romo says he's OK to play next week

T. Romo said he'd play next week, despite his hand injury (AP).

By Josh Katzowitz

A potentially scary moment for the Cowboys and quarterback Tony Romo in their 20-7 loss to the Eagles shouldn’t keep Romo out of next week’s potential playoff clincher vs. the Giants.

That’s what Romo told reporters after the game today after it was discovered, via the Cowboys website, that Romo didn’t break any bones in his hand (but only broke blood vessels) when he hit his hand against the helmet of Eagles defensive end Jason Babin.

As he was walking to an elevator, Romo told ESPN Dallas that he’ll play in New York for the NFC East title, and he said that if the Giants had lost to the Jets, thereby making the Cowboys game meaningful, he would have tried his best to return Saturday.

"I would've tried very hard," Romo said. "No question. I did a little bit but the coaching staff decided against that."

Tony Romo says he's OK to play next week

There are many problems wrong with Dallas. Starting from the top you have an owner who is slowly driving down his team and refuses to believe he is part of the problem, much like Al Davis. I'm not going to pick on their new head coach, because he is new. They need to get rid of Rob Ryan, he was a terrible Defensive Coordinator at Oakland and he is showing how bad he can be at Dallas, why does he even have a job in the NFL? Is there any QB more bipolar than Tony Romo? One week he is the Village Idiot the next week they are ready to elect him mayor of Dallas. They have used every excuse in the books to protect him, blaming his poor play usually on someone else, girlfriends, offensive line, WR's, the month of December,  etc.

Tony Romo says he's OK to play next week

The Cowboys better hope Romo is o.k. because if he misses the game next week they have no shot.  Without Romo the Cowboys are toast just like their secondary.  Ryan mouthed offed about knowing more than Belicheck.  Now you know why he's still a coordinator and Hoody has over a decade of headcoaching under his belt.  He needs to simplify the defense and maybe they will play better.  It's obviously clear that the mouthpiece is his downfall just like his brother.  He is not the answer for the Cowboys.  Garrett has to let Romo play to his potential.  Now is not the time to play conservitive.  Play to win instead of playing not to lose and maybe the Cowboys will have better success.  You have to ball out every week offensively and defensivly.  The sad part is if the Cowboys would have won they would have made the playoffs as a wildcard.  They pretty much handed the Falcons the wildcard birth and now they can only get in by winning the NFC east.Cool

Tony Romo says he's OK to play next week

I truly can't stand the Dallas Cowboys and would never want Tony Romo on my fantasy team but, Tony is really not the problem with this team. The biggest problem with this team is truly on the defensive side. Besides Ware the defensive line is garbage. The secondary has NO FOCUS or just plain and simple no true coverage skills. Don't blame Tony Romo for the problems with this team, the true problem is truly on the defensive side. WAKE UP COWBOY FANS AND SHOW SOME TRUE RESPECT FOR A QUARTERBACK THAT HAS BEEN A TRUE LEADER THIS YEAR!

I agree on many points.  The root of all problems lie with Jerrah and his blatant arrogance and pride.  The Boys could have ripped another 2 superbowls in the 90's had he left Jimmy alone.  Jerrah's pride would not allow Jimmy to get credit.....he obviously viewed it as Jimmy stealing the spotlight.  Jerrah will and must be in the spotlight....I don't use the term hate loosely....but I hate that friggin' guy.  He has made America's team into America's most hated team.  Jerrah needs to take his pompous ass to the owners box and stay there.  Let a real coach and gm take over the team operations and sit back on the sea of money rolling in....geez, he should know you make more money when your winning.

That would be a mistake Dallas would make, Romo, although not the MVP of the league for sure, is the cowboys least of problems.  Romo has 29 TD and 9 INT.  Lot of those INT's were tipped balls, some bonehead throws.  The cowboys problem is not Romo, protecting Romo is a huge problem.  Any NFL QB will eat you up if you give him time, Romo can eat up every team in the league with a little time.  Here is the cowboys major problems.  SECONDARY, worst in the league, why other teams dont throw deep on dallas 25 times a game is beyond me, Newman couldnt cover me, the rest of the secondary is not much better, they are slow, undisclipined, cocky, and worthless.  Problem is you cant trade them away, no other team would have them SOB's, they suck.  next problem, RYAN, this bozo has failed everywhere he has been, why would Jones hire him?  Cheap would be my guess.  Next on the list, COACH, Garrett is a little brown nosing worm, he is scared to death of his team, you play the way you practice.  Garrett has to go.  Next, Offensive line.  One offensive lineman cant win games, the rest are worthless.  How can you expect Romo to have time? When the O line cant follow simple assignments to make them respect play action, your going to lose.  Talent alone in Bryant, Austin, Felix Jones, Witten, Ware, Lee, Romo, Robinson, Spencer, the other running back that got hurt that name escapes me this morning, is the other, that talent won 8 games.  Dallas is so beatable every week, they are so easy to throw deep on, so easy to run deep outs on, the only thing they can cover is slants.  Thats because you can find someone running away from a quick mart burglary and have them covering slants in an hour.  Jenkins, sensabaugh, Newman, and the rest of the worthless clan in the secondary can cover them, but thats where their mental capacity stays.  Jones needs to sell the team if he indeed has no interest or dedication to the fans to win.  Hiring Garrett with coaches like Cowher, Chuckie, and others are out there was a signal to me that Jones cares less about winning, really winning.  He wants someone to be able to scare and tower over like Garrett.  He also knows he can win 7, 8, or 9 games a year and keep the fans in HOPE mode.  Hire Cowher, let Cowher put together his staff with no interference, ( the secondary does enough interference) and turn the program around with solid football coaching instead of putting on a show.  You know another sign that proves most of the players could care less, when Jacobs danced on the star in the end zone 3 weeks ago, not one Cowboy did one friggin thing about it.  Nice PRIDE, fire em all.

Tony Romo says he's OK to play next week

You might want to fix the headline teaser on the main page "Romo hurt, intents to play". Intends to play or Intent on playing?

Tony Romo says he's OK to play next week

MNM, don't know how much Christmas Eve cheer you got into, but Tony Romo never has been, nor ever will be a top 5 QB. He is the biggest choke job to ever put on a Cowgirls. Take for instance the last Giants matchup, he didn't to kill the clock with the lead late in the game, what does he do instead, throws a TD pass which actually leads to giving the Giants life. Dude will never be mistaken for a winner......

Easy to blame the coaches but there are such things in football as "coach killers" and I'm afraid you have one in big D......

Even his owner seems to have given up on him. Fantasy players can probably look forward to a new QB next year in Dallas.

Another clown who obviously doesn't watch football. Romo has been one of the best QB's in the NFL this year and has been having an outstanding season even with injuries that would have had most QB's miss at least 3 or 4 starts. 29 TD's   9 INT's   66% comp and a rtg of 102.6 only behing Rodgers, Brees and Brady in the rtg. Only an idiot would think that needs to be replaced. It's not the QB who needs to be replaced if they lose it is the coaching. Coaching has resulted in 3 or 4 losses minimum and they were the Jets, Detroit, New England, Arizona, and maybe even the Giants last time they played. Romo is a top 5 QB in football like it or not.

Tony Romo says he's OK to play next week

I wish they would just hurry up,finish 8-8,draft horribly, fire Garrett, Jerry make himself coach, go 2-14 for 2 seasons, thewn maybe,...just maybe.. Stephen Jones steps in and says ;"Dad, you are a helluva businessman, but you dont know shit about fottball. Jerry resigns as GM, they get a real GM and by 2018 when Romo is a backup on a bad team, and a few drafts late..the Cowboys finally reclaim the title of "Americas Team" sorry Green Bay, it os not you. Be original and ocme up with something else.
