Is Brian Dawkins' career in jeopardy?

B. Dawkins is having neck troubles that could derail his career (US Presswire).

By Josh Katzowitz

As Tim Tebow-infatuated as everybody in the NFL seems to be (in good times and bad), sometimes we have to point out how much the Broncos improving defense has contributed to keeping him in games in order to win them late.

On Saturday, vs. a Bills team that’s taken a huge nosedive in the second half of the season, the Broncos proved that if the defense isn’t good, Tebow has no shot at winning. And one reason for the Denver defensive no-show was because Brian Dawkins had to leave the game with more neck troubles.

As the Denver Post points out, there are concerns that his neck issues ultimately will end his 16-year career.

“I don’t want to talk about the neck,” Dawkins said after the Bills 40-14 rampage was complete.

But how can we NOT talk about the neck, especially if it’s going to derail a top-notch career and put the Broncos playoff potential in a perilous place? Dawkins didn’t play last week, and the Patriots dominated. Dawkins didn’t play much Saturday, and Buffalo dominated. The trend might not be coincidental, especially because Dawkins is still effective against the run.

Dawkins said he didn’t know if he could play next week in the regular season finale against the Chiefs for the right to go to the postseason. But there is this: without Dawkins, the Raiders chances to win almost certainly decrease.

Is Brian Dawkins' career in jeopardy?

If I could choose to have the game of any athlete in the world, I'd probably choose Brian Dawkins. The guy has leadership, ferocity, crazy athleticism, and he's humble. Maybe I'm just a philly fan, but this guy has run sh*t since I was in diapers. Instead of wolverine actions figures, they should make some of Brian Dawkins. Now that'd be a good role model for the kids....

Is Brian Dawkins' career in jeopardy?

Dawkins had a great career with the Eagles and if he does endup retiring, Philly would be crazy if they didn't offer him a coaching job. Fact is, Eagles definitely need an attitude adjustment and some team leaders to step up, whether is players or coaches doesn't matter, but they definitely need some changes on both offense and defense.

Is Brian Dawkins' career in jeopardy?

any Eagles fan will tell you it was a mistake letting Dawkins go (especially with the classless way Lurie and Banner handled it--no shock there from those two assclowns), and that the Eagles' defense has not been the same since he left...

No one can blame you for not wanting to talk neck problems. However, its gotta be the end of the career....you need a neck for the rest of your life. Dawkins is a great role model and a top notch defender and teammate. Good luck.

Maybe the best career after college by a Clemson football player , a list that includes the likes of William and Micheal Dean Perry , Dwight Clark , Terry Allen , Donnell Woolford and Levon Kirkland . I think Dawkins is a first ballot HOFer ......

Is Brian Dawkins' career in jeopardy?

You hope Brian can separate football from his life because if he gets another hit, it could be the end of both and no one wants that.  I would like the Broncos to win and go to the playoffs, but Brian, your life means more than a game.  You have been an awesome pro playing for 16 years in a league the average career is less than 3.  So, do what you think is right for you and your family.  A good, good guy.  Only the best in your decision

Is Brian Dawkins' career in jeopardy?

Yes he is adifference maker and the Broncos need him to increase thier chances of making the playoffs and going anywhere. But If his neck has any chance of causing him long term problems than he has to sit out. He is an awesome player but it better to be a complete person than a injured for life player. Dont rush back if you cant be healthy .good luck Hawk in your carreer and life, in football and postfootball.
