Tony Romo practices with wrap, likely to start

The primary concern for Sunday night's NFC East "championship game" is the hand of Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Last we left Romo, he was reportedly "fine" and looked like he would start on Sunday against the Giants.

Our Cowboys Rapid Reporter Nick Eatman lends further credence to the belief that Romo will play, reporting that Romo practiced on Thursday with a "light wrap" on his hand and is now "likely" to start.

The issue for the Cowboys and Romo is the amount of swelling in the quarterback's hand. If he's unable to properly grip and throw the ball, then Dallas could struggle.

And if the injury makes him tentative in the pocket, then the Giants pass rush could certainly ramp up the pressure on Dallas offense.

But the news that Romo's at least able to practice and test out the strength he's got with a banged-up hand is huge. Though Stephen McGee didn't look like the worst quarterback in the world last Saturday afternoon, Dallas offense simply isn't the same when Romo's not on the field.

Knocking him out of the game would all but ensure that the Giants took home the division title this season.

Romo has had a very good season. Putting wins and losses solely on a QB is a shortsighted and lazy argument, just like saying Ws and Ls make a starting pitcher in baseball.  Look at Tebow for example and tell me Romos not a 10 times better QB.

Dallas Cowboys need a miracle with Tony Romo,if they want to win over the NY Giants and get into the NFL Playoffs but they are at MetLife Stadium home of the Giants and the Jets.

The comments about Romo not being able to win is laughable!!!  He is fourth in the league in QB Rating and has 18 TD's and 2 Interceptions in his last 8 games.  Hmmmm....yeah....he is REALLY struggling!!!  Cowboys by at least 4!!  Hold me to it if they lose but acknowledge it when it happens!

Actually they are spot on, Romo may have great stats, but he doesn't win.  It's pretty simple great quarterbacks find a way to win, Tony Romo does not.  It doesn't matter how great his stats are if they don't win games, and championships. Look at Ben Rothlesberger he doesn't have the best stats of NFL quarterbacks but he has a pair of rings, and a ton more playoff apperances, he finds way to win games, and is as clutch as they come.

Gotta love it, we already have blame placed on the coaches and directed away from Romo BEFORE the game. Say theshark, can you tell us what was the score of the game you have already seen watched and when do the big plays happen? I'd love to have an idea of what I'm in store for before the game starts. Hilarious..... Leave it to a Cowboys fan and Romo lover to provide comic relief on demand!!!!

When was the last big game Romo won?

2009, he won a game exactly like this one, winner takes division, then he won his first playoff game a week later. When was the last big Game Eli won??? 2007 was a long time ago.

If the Cowboys lose this game...it will NOT be the fault of Tony Romo. The fault will be once again bad coaching along with Rob Ryan not being able to create a scheme that will not stop an offense in the 4th Qtr. This is not the 86 Giants defense the Cowboys are facing.....it is a defense that made Rex Grossman look like a Pro-Bowl Qb.
