Robert Griffin III to make Draft decision 'soon'

RG3 says he'll decide on the draft "pretty soon." (AP)

Though he was technically outplayed Washington quarterback Keith Price on Thursday, Robert Griffin, III, still looked outstanding in a shootout for the ages at the Alamo Bowl.

2012 NFL Draft

Next up is the decision about whether RG3, a projected top-10 pick and the second-rated quarterback on Rob Rang's big board, will leave Baylor for the NFL. And the Heisman winner says a decision is coming 'soon.'

"Pretty soon," Griffin said when asked when he'd make his decision, though he didn't know what the decision would be. "I have no idea. I'm going to enjoy this right now with my teammates and we'll get to that later."

Griffin's stock probably couldn't get much higher than it is now and, unlike Matt Barkley at USC, Griffin won't be one of the favorites to win the BCS title in 2012. But he's pretty clearly a fan of the school that's given him a chance to shine on the national level.

"I want Baylor nation to enjoy this," Griffin said. "It's not about me. I've got about two weeks. I'll enjoy this the next day, and then the next day, and then I'll make it."

From a business perspective, Griffin would be wise to leave for the NFL. Teams are enamored with his skillset and there's a shortage of elite quarterbacks in the 2012 NFL Draft -- only Stanford's Andrew Luck also ranks in the top 20 overall prospects.

If both the Browns and Redskins end up with top-10 picks, it would be an absolute epic upset to see RG3 drop past both of them.

The Browns already have Colt McCoy and he is doing a great job with what he has around him. With a top receiver and a lineman or two they are already in good shape. Andrew Luck wouldn't hep them with the supporting cast they have. Washington could certainly use rg3. Also Minn and tampa.

You know your team has seriously taken a fall when you express so much jealousy and disdain toward Baylor.  Texas may have actually won a few more games this season if they had RG3 instead of the goofs they have this season at QB.  LSU has weak QB's also, but we do have much more talent around our suspect QB's than Texas.

If football is going to be your career choice and what else would it be, now's the time. You're in high demand with a chance to start in your rookie year. What else can you do on the field at Baylor? This year was as good as it gets and there is nothing left there but downside.

I expect RG3 to announce his intentions to enter the draft as his stock will never be higher.  I am just not sure what kind of NFL Qb he would be.  I surely would not mortgage my future to trade up for him as I think there is a risk with him, especially from an injury standpoint.  He is no Cam Newton as he is not near as big or strong.  What RG3 does have going for him is brains, as you simply cannot play QB in this league if you are not at least fairly bright.  He is surely that.  He will have to play against real defenses in the NFL, and it will be interesting to see how he handles that as he has not seem much of that this season.  I do wish him well as I think he is a good young man, but I am just not as confident in his skillset as some others on here.  I said much the same thing last year about Gabbert, and so far, he sucks.  Granted not a lot of talent around him, but he has shown little this season.

Baylor should be ashamed of itself.  Under their website for football they list their rivalries and state the won/loss record against each team with one exception.  They have a few lines about the U of TEXAS, saying it is 90 miles away and Baylor won the most recent game.  They fail to mention Baylor has 23 wins and 73 losses over the last 100 years!  (4 ties)  What weinies!  RG3, you ought to stay and try for the 24th win in school history over the Horns.  Oh, six SWC championships--Texas has 29 or 30, and of course Baylor does not want to list their year by year season or conference records with the exception of the current better than average team.  Did it take them 5 or 6 years to get a conference victory.

Griffin would be crazy not to jump right now.  Barkley opened the door for him.  Baylor is going nowheres next season.  They go to Texas and to Oklahoma.  Their non-scon schedule is so soft that it will gain them absolutely no respect at all.  Unlike Barkley, who is playing on a team with a very legitimate chance of playing in a BCS Game next season, Baylor will be fortunate to equal this season's record.  Not only that, but if Griffin does not match his performance of this season in 2012, his status in the 2013 draft could drop.  If he is smart, he grabs the money right now.

If he's s,art he will strike while the Heisman Trophy hype is still hot and maybe be the 2nd QB taken behind Luck.

Griffin is a LIAR.  He made his decision long ago.  He can prove me wrong by staying.  Don't tell us how he graduated in three years.  He is at Baylor.  Baptist education is an oxymoron.  Have Robert give you a list of the courses he took--Bible stuff and lots of fluff.  He may well be a great prospect, but he is a lying SOB if he thinks we are buying the old "I'm may stay and make Baylor football a power."  Baylor has one of the worst conference records in all of sports.  Their SWC record was terrible.  And when they were forced down the throats of the Big 12 by their alum Governor Ann Richards, the Bears became patsies of that conference.  How many seasons did it take for them to win a Big 12 game?  A Big 12 away game?  No, Baylor will continue to suck even after this little liar takes his pro shot.

Robert Griffin III to make Draft decision 'soon'

This is the thing to remember about this young man.  He graduated in 3 years, currently masters school, dean's list every semester.  Will be accepted in whichever law school he applies to next year.  He has more high end options than any other high draft pick that i can remember.  Anyone with any seriuos interest will have to sit down with him and determine if he is a fit.  He does not need the NFL and never will.  He is a competitor, on the field and off.  He has always excelled and will always excell at what he wants.  I really feel where he is drafted instead of when is much more of his priority, going back for one more year to finish his masters seems to be a serious family option if the NFL wants to blow some smoke.
