Martz, Cutler

By Josh Katzowitz

This might not surprise you, especially considering Jay Cutler dropped an F-bomb on former Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz, but, according to the Chicago Tribune, Cutler met with coach Lovie Smith and said he was in favor of moving on without Martz.

Cutler apparently met with Smith to give his opinion before Smith and Martz met to officially part ways. Martz’s contract was up anyway, but considering Cutler (among others in the organization) didn’t want Martz around, it seemed unlikely Martz would return for another season.

"Obviously I would sure like to be back,” Martz said last month. “I think all of that stuff works out. This is going to be a great football team and I would like to be a part of it. We’ll just see how it works out."

Latest Coaching Rumors, News
Though Cutler had a standout season in Martz’s system, Martz, earlier in the year, didn’t seem all that concerned about keeping Cutler protected by the offensive line. In fact, Cutler was asked in September if he could survive the year, and he hoarsely said, “I don’t know. I don’t know."

Martz also didn’t make friends with Pro Bowl running back Matt Forte by using him in such an inconsistent matter that it led Forte to say he thought the Bears didn’t believe he's an elite player. And Martz didn’t come off great when he blamed backup Caleb Hanie for an interception on a play that probably shouldn’t have been called for such an inexperienced player in the first place.

Now, Smith will have to hire his third offensive coordinator in four years, and hopefully, Cutler will give his seal of approval.

Cutler is a cancer, plain & simple.
He's standoffish, aloof, when you see him on the sideline he looks like he wishes he were anywhere except where he is at that moment.
The playoff game where he supposedly injured his knee, was he near the back up to help out with play selection or what he saw from the sideline? NOPE! he was sitting on the bench, looking bored & pouting like a spoiled child in a time out.
When he was with the Broncos Elway wantd to talk with him after practice about in game stuff, Cutler ignored him and kept texting on his phone as if Elway wasn't even there.
Finally Elway got angry and slapped the phone out of Cutler's hand and Cutler acted like it was Elway who did something wrong.
HELLO!!!!! Earth to Jay, the man is a HOF'er, knows a thing or two about Quarterbacking in the NFL & you have him as a resource anytime you want him and you IGNORE him? I mean come on, you either have a set of lead testes or you really don't think that anyone knows more about the position  than you or it could be that you just don't care which is why *I* always refer to you as "Jay Barely Cares" because much like Joe Barry Carroll who I lifted that nickname from and bestowed it upon you you have all the talent in the world but have an attitude that stinks like a decomposing corpse.
Blame the OC all you like Jay, people are on to you and when you fail with the next OC let's just hope the Bears are smart enough to have a back up plan in place and move on from your tempestuous, spoiled ways.

Cutler is a overrated P.O.S

Im so sick of idiots like this guy saying Cutler is overrated or sucks. The guy has been sacked the most in the NFL since joining the Bears. And when he isnt getting sacked, believe me as a diehard fan who watches every play, he is running for his life and being pressured like no other. The guy has no time. Watch the games. When he actually does have time, he throws very accurately, and has one of the top 3 strongest arms in the league. The line sucks in Chicago. And then you gotta ask, who is he throwing to??.. Hester isnt a receiver, not at all. He cant run routes or get open despite his blazing speed. Knox also doesnt get off the jam at the line.. Roy Williams has dropped so many balls its ridiculous. And Martz doesnt use TEs in the pasing game. You can hate Cutler's attitude or demeanor all you want, I wouldnt defend that because he needs improvement in those ways. BUT the guy can absolutely be a force in a decent offense. Great arm, can run for firsts, is very accurate. It just sucks when you have no time to throw, and your receivers arent getting open or they're dropping balls.

Ram-N-IT

How exactly can you buy into an OC's offense when you are on your back over 100 times in two years? To blame this on Cutler is football dumb. Martz has been canned in three spots lately. Why do you think that is?

Not too shocking of an article. Martz proved late in 10 that he COULD protect Cutler and then went back to his BS ways early in 11 and chose not to protect him. See ya.

When did the players dictate who the Offensive Coach should be? Cutler is a whiny b!@#h and will NEVER make the SB let alone Pro Bowl. Good luck to Martz
He already made the probowl once, Einstein!! Go troll somewhere else.

Here it is -- many of you posting and other football fans knew this about Martz:  He is flighty isn't he?  He's an ants-in-the-pants kind of a guy.  Can't sit still.  Likes to Job Hop quite a bit.  Kind of "out there" at times.  Yells for no reason at times.  Kind of a crankpot.

Plus, think about it:  if you plug in (insert any off coord name here) the will be just fine with a healthy Cutler, a great running game, an O-line that will only get better, and one of these years they are going to get better WRs to compliment the whole deal.

The Bears D is a huge reason they have been doing so well lately anyway, and that isn't even Martz' doing.

Warner Mastered it and Bulger did a pretty good job as well.  Cutler will never bee a top notch QB because he complains too much and doesnt do enough to make him a better player.

Get off your High Horse bub, Warner AND Bulger did that with Orlando Pace at Left tackle, not Jamarcus Webb.  I can't name the rest of the Rams line from the late 90's but I'll bet real cash any one of them could have started in lieu of whom the Bears had on that line this season.

They also did that with Torry Holt and Issac Bruce, not Johnny Know and Devin Hester.  LMAO.  Lastly, Matt Forte is great, but he's no Marshall Faulk.

It's not even close to the same thing.  Nice try though.

Martz is a stubborn horse's a$$.
