Former Jet Kris Jenkins calls out Mark Sanchez

Former Jets defensive lineman Kris Jenkins has transitioned nicely from the playing field to the analyst's chair. He's made occasional appearances on CBS's The NFL Today, and he had a thoughtful piece in the New York Times in November documenting his life in professional football.

On Thursday, Jenkins spared us the nuance when he took to Mike Lupica's radio show to talk about the unintentional comedy stylings of the New York Jets and Mark Sanchez (transcript via PFT.com).

“The No. 1 quarterback should have said that a long time ago,” Jenkins said, referring to backup Greg McElroy's recent public comments about the sorry state of the Jets locker room. “It would have been all part of the process of him growing a pair and standing up and being a man. But the thing is, he lost his because he got caught up in the wash that is New York, the spotlight, taking pictures in the magazines and doing all that stuff. That’s just what everybody has seen with Mark Sanchez, they got tired of it.”

Aaron Rodgers agrees with the part about fancy clothes and magazine shoots. "I mean look at this -- that's embarrassing," Rodgers said in September of Sanchez's designer wife beater and skinny jeans ensemble. "Page 94 of the GQ thing here, that's terrible."

Also embarrassing and terrible? Sanchez's 2011 season, his third in the NFL, though it wasn't completely his fault. The lack of a running game coupled with an inconsistent defense and the worst team captain in organized sports conspired to wreck the Jets' season and any progress Sanchez might've made.

Jenkins played with Sanchez for parts of the 2009 and 2010 season and admitted that he was impressed by the former USC quarterback's potential. But like intentions and the road to hell, the NFL scrap heap is littered with players with tons of potential who don't do much with it. Right now, that's Sanchez.

“Mark wants to be a leader but there’s a difference between wanting it and taking it,” Jenkins said. “He’s always trying to be a crowd pleaser. He’s always trying to be nice. He wants to be a leader but he won’t take it.”

According to head coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum, Sanchez is the Jets' starter heading into 2012. Maybe it's a case of blind loyalty offsetting what seems to be obvious to most folks: despite Sanchez's draft status, he's not a franchise quarterback. And it's not clear he ever will be, especially if Santonio Holmes is on the roster next season.

Former Jet Kris Jenkins calls out Mark Sanchez

Sanchize reminds me of Neil O'Donnell, remember him?  Average QB, billed as the savior for the JETS, goes there with expectations high, but in the end, he was what he was, an average QB.

Their have been a conga line of QB's and other position players that fit this description - Todd, Testaverde, Pennington, Lucas, Nagle, O'Brien. Remember when the jets claimed that Stan Blinka was the equal or better than LT when LT was drafted. Wow!!!!!!

Sadchize is not a terrible QB, just an average QB that was sold as something he's not.

THERE ARE CERTAIN POSTERS ON THESE BOARDS, THAT HAPPEN TO BE SO CALLED JETS FANS, AND THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE, THAT EXHIBIT EXTREME ANTISOCIAL PHYCHOTIC BEHAVIORS. THESE POSTERS CONTINUE TO BELIEVE THAT THE JETS HAVE BEEN EITHER MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN OTHER NFL TEAMS, OR WERE SUCCESSFUL PERIOD. EVEN THOSE WHO WERE BORN YESTERDAY, OR CRAWLED OUT OF A CAVE AND PICKED UP TODAY'S NEWSPAPER IN A TRASH CAN WOULD COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE JETS ARE AND HAVE BEEN AN UTTER PATHETIC FAILURE FOR DECADES!!!!!! AND ARE NOW A TEAM IN TOTAL DISARRAY, WITH A COACH THAT MOST EXPECT NEEDS TO BE FIRED.

THESE CERTAIN POSTERS SOMEHOW CLAIM THAT THE JETS HAVE ENJOYED MORE SUCCESS THAN TEAMS SUCH AS THE PATRIOTS, GIANTS AND PACKERS, EVEN THOUGH THESE TEAMS HAVE RECORDED NUMEROUS AND WELL EARNED SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS, AND THE JETS HAVE NOT IN NEARLY FIVE DECADES. IF ONE WERE TO ANALYZE THE NFL PLAYOFF 2013 OUTLOOK, THE JETS ARE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND, WHILE THE 3 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS CAN INDEED BE FOUND.

MOREOVER, WHEN FANS OF THESE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS ATTEMPT TO REFUTE THESE RIDICULOUS AND PHYCHOTIC CLAIMS, THEY ARE MET WITH INSULTS AND PERSONAL ATTACKS. SOMEHOW, RETALIATIONS TO THESE ATTACKS RESULT IN POSTS HAVE BEEN DELETED.

GIVEN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES IT IS ADVISABLE TO PLACE THESE TYPES ON IGNORE, AND PITY THEM FOR EXISTING IN SUCH A SAD AND PATHETIC WAY. ONE WOULD TEND TO PONDER IF THE VERY OXYGEN THAT THEY BREATHE IS WASTED.

CONGRATS TO THE GIANTS, PATRIOTS AND PACKERS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE FANS WHO HAVE ENJOYED GREAT SUCCESS AND WILL ENJOY SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE AS A RESULT OF THEIR RESPECTABLE AND PROFESSIONAL OEPRATIONS AND MENTALITY!!!!

AS FOR THE JETS, SORRY:

44 YEARS AND COUNTING!!!!

WOW ,
This guy has been harassing and trolling Jet fans for 2 weeks now.Go look he has not commented in any threads except for Jet threads. It is truly sad that some people are so JEALOUS and full of HATE, that they would spent all their time STALKING Jet threads when the team they supposedly root for have a PLAYOFF game this weekend. The Giants are the 2nd rate team in NYC,the Jet's fan base is bigger and the Jets also get more NATIONAL attention, that is why there are so many HATERS.

Its just unbelievable that this guy is not banned. take a look at his history and you will find months and months of stalking, trolling and insulting other teams and fans, with numerous post deleted and warnings???? Now he is claiming that those who speak out against the Jets are stalkers and the jets get more national attention and draw more haters????? Wonder why????? I am not a Giant fan, but is this guy kidding????????

The CBS Admins need to look into this!!!!!

Former Jet Kris Jenkins calls out Mark Sanchez

Can things get any worse for this team??? however, they brought it on themselves with Tubby and certain ignorant fans claiming superbowl championships in preseason. I don't blame Sadchize as much as the clowns surrounding him in the Jet circus of horrors, including the coach, Tubby Bozo the Mouth . It  has been obvious that Sadchize is not a premier QB for some time, however, he was promoted as one by a desperate team with no championships in decades. The blame for theis mess should fall on the owner and Tubby who acted like an oversized unprofessional, attention starved imbicile, and coached like a lazy turd. It is obvious the the lack of discipline caused the team to implode on itself weeks prior to elimination, with captains jumping ship and players and Tubby fingering each other in the press. However, this team was never as good as advertised, lucky to sneak in as a wildcard the last two years and declining to the mess before you. The Jet fans are like starving and thirsty men wandering the desert for 44 years and Woody and Tubby made the mirage appear. However, the mirage turned out to be sewer water, all smelly and undrinkable. Some inane Jet fans on these boards claim that the sewer water is champagne, and the Jets are a total success and more successful than the likes of the Packers, Giants and Pats???? This mirrors Tubby's self destructing behavior of insulting teams before weekly games. There are many lessons that the Jet organization and fans can learn from this debacle, however, no one is going to feel sorry for them no matter how hard Tubby cries, as the overwhelming condemnations are self inflicted!!!!   lmfaooo
