Tim Tebow did a lot of things Sunday that no one expected (like throw for exactly 316 passing yards). One such thing: unlocking a $250,000 bonus in his contract for winning a playoff game.

A clause in Tebow's contract paying him that money was activated on Sunday night according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, when Tebow won a playoff game. For every playoff game that Tebow wins, provided he's taken 70 percent of his team's snaps in a season, he gets an additional $250,000.

Tebowmania

We already knew that Tebow unlocked a $472,000 bonus for playing in more than 45 percent of his team's snaps back in December.

Closing out the season as the starter, Tebow passed the 70-percent threshold and now is owed an additional $250 GRR.

If the Broncos somehow manage to topple New England, Tebow will be in line for an additional bonus. (And the same is true up through the Super Bowl, giving Tebow the potential to earn an extra ... one million dollars.)

And you know what's almost as funny as Austin Powers jokes? Thinking back to before the season and imagining a world where Tebow not only played in 73 percent of the Broncos plays in 2011, but discussing the possibility of him making an extra quarter-million as a result of beating the Steelers in the playoffs.

Yet, somehow, here we are.

One more thing, for all you haters:  Tebow won the Heisman, was 2nd runner up the following year, has two national college titles under his belt, and set UF and SEC ALL TIME RECORDS for passing efficiency!  He must be doing SOMETHING right!
Why do people scrutize everything Tebow does?  Why do they say he's undeserving?  Because deep down they resent the fact that he's a better person at the core than they are.
I'll give him credit for the Heisman and 1 national championship. As for the rest, come on be real. He was the backup for his first NC and during his first year as a starter got beaten by Michigan in their bowl game (Heisman hangover?).

As for those records did you see the type of offense he was playing in? Dink and dunk passing to speedy WRs and RBs can make anyone look good. Your knees look a little raw from all the "worshipping" of Tebow you do.

Tim Tebow unlocks $250K playoff bonus in contract

If you can be objective, Ben's third down completion percentage is always in the top 5 in the NFL,  His career yards per attempt is more than Brees, Rivers,  Manning, other Manning, and Brady (ONLY Rodgers is better).  This while having to play with a below average offensive line, almost all games outside, the RAVENs defense twice per year and mostly playing the other AFC division winners each year.

He also has won two Super Bowl's, been to another, AND been to yet another AFC championship game.  ....he's NOT EVEN 30 YEARS OLD YET.
If you don't think Ben is ELITE, then you are either jealous or ignorant.

I agree that Tebow had a great college career, but you cannot compare his college career to the NFL.  The play is MUCH different and the the hits harder.  Even Tebow himself said that the NFL makes men.  He has a lot to work on and his throwing accuracy is one of them.  He has gotten better with each game, but remember he is still trying to play college ball in the NFL arenas.  The Broncos lost the last 3 regular season games because Brady and the Pats exposed the college plays, but I am hoping that the Broncos also learned that against a team that prepares each week specifically for the team the are playing that week, they will do the same.

I Love the fact that Tebow gives credit to his team mates, coaches and most importantly JESUS CHRIST.  Now I do not believe that God cares about who wins a football game, but I do believe that he rewards his faithful followers.  This week will be interesting that I do know.

Tim Tebow unlocks $250K playoff bonus in contract

Tebow and the rest of the team deserve a lot of credit for this win.  No matter what type of incentive is in any of the players contracts, I think that whenever a team wins a playoff game, there is a bonus for all the team members.  This coming week will be a very tough game against the no. 1 seed patriots.  However, looking at the last time they played I don't know of to many teams that have 3 turnovers in about 5 minutes or so which resulted in 17 or 21 points against them be able to recover from that.  If they protect the ball and play like they did on sunday, they will have a chance.  Now the Tebow haters will say that Ben and others were hurt but Ben was not limping around to bad during the second half.   He was running and scrambling like he usually does which resulted in some big completions and first downs.  If it was adrenaline or pain killer who knows.  Even with all the injuries they were still 10 point favorites and couldn't get it done.

nobody else is sick of tebowmania yet?  pits was depleted and injured, denver has no shot of winning this week as we had already seen late in the season..... new england needs to pump them and not stop, just so all of these believers can stop

i sure was tired of hearing how pig pen ben roehterhehreroethetburgers was an "elite" QB. sheeeeww. glad that's over. man is he over the phucc rated. clearly he gets his QB power from teenie rape victims. the steelers org needs to keep a few in a barn like that old man in that show "the Walking Dead".  you know, just feed pig pen ben a teenie pre-game and watch him tool around the field for a big win!

Tim Tebow unlocks $250K playoff bonus in contract

Let me start off by saying I don't think the Broncos will  win this Saturday but I don't think it is a gimme that they lose.  In the first meeting with New England they really weren't out of the game til the 4th quarter and even then Tebow put a drive together but there defense just couldn't stop Brady.  Plus I believe that Patriots secondary is worse then the Steelers.  If they bring the players in the box to stop the run option that pass for Thomas will be there this week also.

The biggest question is: Why did Will Brinson even write this article?  Other QB's don't make bonuses?  I'd wager they all do...I'd wager most players do.  So it makes Will go "Grrr".  Because Tebow's a good guy?  Because he wears his heart on his sleeve (or his cheekbone)?  Give him a break, all you pompous media asses....
