As you've likely realized by now, Brian Schottenheimer is out as the offensive coordinator of the Jets and reports are that Tony Sparano's on his way in. So the team's in upheaval right now. It won't help matters that some Jets players anonymously and publicly ripped quarterback Mark Sanchez on Wednesday morning.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News has the story, and it's a doozy, with Jets players referring to Sanchez as "lazy," a "baby" and someone that can't win in New York.

Nightmare in New York

“We have to bring in another quarterback that will make him work at practice,” one player told Mehta. "He’s lazy and content because he knows he’s not going to be benched."

Mehta also writes that the "consensus among players" he spoke to is that the Jets need a change at quarterback, or at least a capable veteran to push Sanchez into better performances.

And the top choice for that veteran position seems to be ... Peyton Manning!

“We already have his coach — Tom Moore," one player, who Mehta calls well-respected, said. "Plus, he’s a field general and will get everyone lined up. He will get his playmakers the ball. We can win a Super Bowl with Peyton."

The issue with Peyton is that it's not as simple as "grabbing him and dumping Sanchez." First, Manning has to get cut/released/put on the trading block by the Colts. Then he has to want to come to the Jets.

Whatever, it could happen, but let's not put the cart before the horse, especially when it requires Manning wanting to play in the same locker room that just firmly shoved its current quarterback (and erstwhile leader) under the bus, calling him a "baby" in the process.

"They don’t want to be truthful with him," one player said about the way the team handled Sanchez. "They treat him like a baby instead of a man. He goes in a hole when someone tells him the truth."

See, looks like a really fun place to play. Come on down Peyton. But really, anonymously shredding the starting quarterback for a team -- besides being, ironically, lazy in its own right -- doesn't usually mean that there only needs to be one change.

UPDATED (7:33 p.m. ET): One of Sanchez's teammates has come to the rescue. That would be center Nick Mangold who tweeted today that Sanchez's accuser should "man up" and put his name with his criticism.

"That's just wrong," said Mangold, when asked today by ESPN about the comment that Sanchez was lazy. "I've never seen anybody work as hard as Mark has. I support him fully and I think the locker room does as well."

100% correct. Coughlin is a smart coach, Eli Manning has gotten better each year and Coughlin is smart enough to employ two solid backs in  Jacobs and Bradshaw keeping fresh legs to set up play action with three fast wide recievers who stretch the field well in Nicks, Manningham and Cruz. Then the strength of the team, myself and all my friends agreed (we also earned a few pesos), are the beasts the Giants have on the defensive line. Rodgers was running for his life all day. Very interesting game coming up, San Fran has a solid D with a top notch back in Gore, Giants have edge at QB while San Fran has a legitimate home field advantage, tough game to pick, I'd imagine the line will have SanFran favored by 3, Giants $$$ will push it down to 2 1/2 by kickoff but it's still a flip a coin bet. The score differential will be less than a TD at games end and whoever doesn't turnover the ball will get the right to play the Patriots in the Superbowl.

;      I agree with Mangold in the player(s) making these comments not having the spine to take credit for the words they spoke. Cowards  On the other hand it's pretty much fact that Mark Sanchez is not a championship caliber quarterback. He chokes under pressure, misreads coverages and he doesn't have the inner strength that can remove emotion from the job at hand. Manning (both of them), Rodgers, Brees and Brady all possess that strength of character needed to forget previous plays and make the reads and throws that win big games.

;     &nbs
p; As for Peyton Manning the only question is health. If he's healthy I doubt the Colts let him go anywhere, he's simply too good to let go. If I'm making decisions for the Colts and Manning is healthy I draft Luck and let him mature under the guideance of Manning.  If he's not healthy I draft Luck and sign a veteran QB with solid fundamentals until either Manning returns to health or Luck matures.  The Jets getting Manning is not going to happen, first I doubt the Colts allow him to go and even if they did he's a smart man. There's no way he goes to a team with locker room turmoil, a head coach who you must concede is a good defensive coordinator but who has no control over not only his players but himself. He's a cartoon character, a buffoon who places undue pressure on his team making comments that overrate his team while sarcastically belittling the opposition. The Jets are in big trouble, Sanchez definately must go. If he were cut today it would not surprise me if he cleared waivers. But cutting him should not be the top priority, that should be to demote Ryan to defensive coordinator, if he refuses the demotion fire him. Next years division finish; New England, Miami, Buffalo and the Jets with a 6-10 or 5-11 season.

Hey Pus**.  Why don't you try explaining why you told us MANY times you would never trade Sanchez for Stafford ?  Don't run like you do from everything else punk a**, explain yourself.   Because see, if you really believe that Sanchez isn't that good then what you're saying now is that Stafford is an awful quarterback.

Be a man Brian.  Admit something for once.....  then again, are you really a man?

LOL
Forget that ignoramus,

The  Key points are:

1: Manning is not going to the Jets;
2: The Jets are on the decline and will most likely finish under .500 next year.

The difference is Raiders fans were smart enough to know that JeMarcus Russell was a bust. Jets fans are so stupid they think Mark Sanchez is the next coming, even though his numbers mirror Russell's.

You and your ilk are retards.

Serphnx.  Ignore Brian8ball, don't make the same mistake I did because it'll haunt you if you do.  He'll follow you into one thread after another and drive you nuts, just like he does with me.   Brian8ball is a low life, a complete loser and a complete waste of a life.  The guy told me multiple times all season long that Sanchez is a better qb then Stafford is.  He told me more then once he would rather have Sanchez then Stafford as his quarterback.  Seriously... no joke man, this 8ball guy is a clown.  Don't waste your time.

One thing YOU can say is a Radier fan would sure know about BAD QUARTERBACKS.The last time the Raiders had a REAL Q.B WAS like 20 years ago.

Brian, you are such a punk it's not even funny.  The guy is an Oakland fan but put together a very nice post, yet all you can do is come up with that one liner?   He didn't say anything wrong in his post, not one thing.

You are such a loser it's unbelievable anybody talks to you or chats with you.
