Jeff Fisher picked the Rams over the Dolphins,'s Mike Freeman has confirmed.

Latest Coaching Rumors, News

Fisher stated last week that he was down to two choices: Miami and St. Louis. One (Miami) featured an owner willing to pay big, big bucks. The other (St. Louis) featured a young, star quarterback in Sam Bradford, potentially more front office control and the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Fisher chose the latter and he'll be roaming the sidelines for the Rams in 2012.

"I'm pumped," fullback Britt Miller told The Associated Press. "I figured that because he wanted a little more control that Miami was probably not the place for him. I'm really pumped."

Fisher's been the hottest coaching name this offseason, getting mentioned in rumors involving the Rams, Dolphins, Colts, Buccaneers and even the not-even-vacant position in Chicago, which was supposedly Fisher's dream job.

It's believed that Fisher could bring current Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who worked with Fisher in Tennessee, to join him in St. Louis.

Momentum reportedly swung back to the Dolphins earlier in the week, but here's an interesting tidbit from Yahoo Sports Mike Silver: Fisher was willing to meet Dolphins owner Stephen Ross "halfway" on personnel matters, letting general manager Jeff Ireland still retain plenty of power. However, Ross/Ireland reportedly weren't willing to budge and it may have ultimately cost them a chance to land Fisher.

Reports also indicate that Fisher will choose his own general manager in St. Louis, so the amount of leverage he pulled out of these two teams really can't be overstated.

Jeff Fisher picks Rams over Dolphins

First - Good Luck to the Rams.  I've always liked Jeff Fisher, even when he was the Water-boy coach for my Eagles.  I thought his removal from the Titans was a good move by a team that decided to remove BOTH problems at once  - sorta.  I would've kept him, and dumped Vince Young.  Easily that was my pick.  But--if Andy Reid got the boot, Fisher was in my Top 2.  So, improvement for StL.  But I am still a Spags fan.  I hope PHL signs him to run the D.  RGIII - ?  The problem with the Rams wasn't Sam Bradford's skills -- I'd say it was his targets and most importantly:  - his O-L.  Bradford has looked fragile.  I'd argue that he hasn't looked as fragile as the Lions' Matthew Stafford.  But are StL fans really ready to replace him so soon?  RGIII may or may not be successful.  But the Rams need bigger help at other spots I'd say.  And maybe they need an O-C that can get the ball in Steven Jackson 's hands even more.

Jeff Fisher picks Rams over Dolphins

Jeff Fisher: 6 winning seasons in 17 as a head coach...STL, you can have him. How ironic is it that he's going to coach the same team that beat him in his only Super Bowl appearance?  Except he's taking over an irrelevant team, with a fragile QB, a RB that's getting old, and an OLine that can't even stop senior citizens from blitzing the QB.  The beatings shall continue!

RGIII is no Vince Young. He is bright & mature. He is also extremely accurate, w/ a cannon arm. No comparison to Young.

You are outta your tree!  RG3 is a Vince Young prototype ... and you saw how well that meshed with Fish in Ten.

This is big news for Redskin fans. Bradford is not a Fisher QB. He is a Shanahan type QB. Draft day, or as soon as Indy wraps up Luck, Fisher trades Bradford to Skins for 1st (Skins) & other players/picks (Skins over pay again). Fisher then picks up RGIII (Fisher type QB), and a whole lot more!
Getting his guy in there has to be important to Fisher. Bradford is a great prospect, and can be a great quarterback, but he has to be on the same page as his head coach. Just don't see it w/Fisher & Bradford. RGIII is someone Fisher can mold from day one, just like he did w/ McNair.
Shanahan has always liked Bradford, and Bradford (24) is still young enough to develop w/ Kyle. Let's wait and see.
