With three games remaining in the 2011 NFL season, it's just about time to flip into full "Where will Peyton Manning play in 2012?" mode. (Trust me: from February 8th to March 8th, you'll hear a lot about it.) His father Archie Manning said Sunday that Peyton would prefer to stay with the Colts.

Of course, as long as Eli Manning is playing -- he beat Green Bay at Lambeau on Sunday with Archie watching -- the Manning machine might as well already be started.

"Peyton kind of likes his roots in Indy,” Archie told the New York Post after watching his other son beat the Packers at Lambeau Field. "We’ll see what happens there. If that doesn’t work and he can get healthy we’ll see. That’ll all work out. He’s just trying to get healthy."

Archie was asked specifically about the rumors that the Jets could be interested in Peyton and declined to discuss that.

“I’m not going to get into that," Archie replied.

It shouldn't be surprising that Peyton wants to stay with the Colts. He's due a lot of money, it's the only team he's ever played for, he's comfortable with the organization and the idea of being discarded by the one team he's ever played for so they can draft a rookie with the first pick can't be comforting.

But Peyton has little control over whether or not he stays with the Colts. That boils down to his health, their specific plan to rebuild the roster and myriad other factors that will be fleshed out over the next month or so.

Archie Manning: Peyton 'likes his roots in Indy'

Archie needs to just sit back and let his adult sons fend for themselves, having a middle man only only creates problems. Peyton is a big boy and has a huge bank account, he needs to focus on getting 100% first before he even entertains any questions about where he is going to play. This guy didnt take one snap last season and is nursing a serious injury that could potentially end his career and all everyone is talking about is where he will be, he may be on the couch again collecting 27 mil. again who knows. In the end it is the COLTS who make the decisions not the Mannings.

Monkey and JWK - i couldnt agree more and i said it yesterday. never should have came back to this board as it just proves how ignorant and dense people really can be.  Oh yea i forgot vindictive!

Archie is nothing but a class act and has always been! The way his sons' behave and handle their successes more than makes my point.

For you jackasses that say " peyton should speak for himself blah fu&king blah" - pay attention dummies - go to cbssports and watch the 15min interview with James Brown... enough said

i really dont think this will become a money issue, and Isray has already stated that Peyton is like "one of the family not a player" so the only way Peyton leaves is if he asks for it. At 36(which i did not realize he was that old) he will be taking stock(as mentioned in the interview) and may decide he only has a couple of years left in his body. Enter Tannerhill or Kinne(you posters that dont know about him do a search and find the connection to peyton)who will take 2-3 years to be a top flight QB. they get their QB, at a lower expense and manage to corral a sh!t load of picks, and everyone is happy! sure it wont happen but sure sounded good!

Not Manning haters at all, both QB's are superstars, no problem with them at all, even though they consistantly beat on my team. It seams lately that whenever there is any news about Peyton or Eli it's preceded by "Archie says". Almost as if this is the new protocol for interviewing the Manning boys.
We'll ask Archie a few questions, if it doesn't raise any eyebrows then no sense bothering to interview the boys.
That's the perception I have during the last few months when the suck for Luck sweepstakes was being aimed at Indy.

I do not understand the negative comments about Archie. They shove a Mike in his face ask a question and he answers.
Then this board is upset he answers a question. What is wrong with people? Manning Haters? Wow, what is that about?
Did his kids beat your team? They are great players and good for the sport. I know alot of Colt Fans and Giant Fans
appreciate them.

Back to Indy, Sorry you lost Peyton to the injury. I hope Peyton does not try to push it and winds up in a wheelchair or worse.
The team is currently under evaluation, there will be painful days ahead for the COLTS. I hope they can rebound. The fans
are great and they deserve a winner.

I like the keep Manning & trade the 1st pick & sure up some other holes. But i wouldnt draft RG3 & have him learn from Manning. Not the same kind or type of QBs.

I would trade the #1 pick to Cleveland for their 2 1st round picks & whatver else i can get....I would draft RB T. Richardson and fill the RB positionwith the 1st pick, use the #22 pick to get QB Ryan Tannehill who is very good & could learn even more from Manning. Or maybe wait until 2013 draft & get QBs Matt Barkley or Laundry Jones

Why dont you stop talking like your son is 10 and let him speak for himself.  I would be embarrassed if my Dad was my PR rep.  Butt out!!  Talk about living in the past, your career is over, let your baby Peyton talk for himself.

Indeed. It is wearying listen to Archie's prattle. But I'll give him credit, the guy sure can find the stage lights. It would be nice if the family would find Archie something to do behind the scenes. Maybe as a driver or a butler. Whisper: Hey Arch, your moment in the sun, brief as it was, is long gone.

Why don't they keep the money in the family and have Peyton hire Archie as his agent and PR guy.  I can't remember the last time I saw or heard a live interview from Peyton.  It's always Archie pulling the puppet strings, Peyton says this and Peyton feels that .....
