With three games remaining in the 2011 NFL season, it's just about time to flip into full "Where will Peyton Manning play in 2012?" mode. (Trust me: from February 8th to March 8th, you'll hear a lot about it.) His father Archie Manning said Sunday that Peyton would prefer to stay with the Colts.

Of course, as long as Eli Manning is playing -- he beat Green Bay at Lambeau on Sunday with Archie watching -- the Manning machine might as well already be started.

"Peyton kind of likes his roots in Indy,” Archie told the New York Post after watching his other son beat the Packers at Lambeau Field. "We’ll see what happens there. If that doesn’t work and he can get healthy we’ll see. That’ll all work out. He’s just trying to get healthy."

Archie was asked specifically about the rumors that the Jets could be interested in Peyton and declined to discuss that.

“I’m not going to get into that," Archie replied.

It shouldn't be surprising that Peyton wants to stay with the Colts. He's due a lot of money, it's the only team he's ever played for, he's comfortable with the organization and the idea of being discarded by the one team he's ever played for so they can draft a rookie with the first pick can't be comforting.

But Peyton has little control over whether or not he stays with the Colts. That boils down to his health, their specific plan to rebuild the roster and myriad other factors that will be fleshed out over the next month or so.

Archie will always have his 2 cents. It keeps him out there and relevant - at least in his own mind. At least he hasn't said (yet) that Peyton will be playing for a specific team. No one really cares what Archie thinks or says, anyway.

Please be quiet Archie. Let the boys speak for themselves. Cut the umbilical chord.

Archie Manning: Peyton 'likes his roots in Indy'

wow jammer i hope you are just fired up or that may be the worst spelling and grammer since, since, ahhhh brian cueball!

archie was a solid player who manned up and stayed with NO through the arguably worst team(s) in football. He was a stand up gentleman, and by the looks of his sons' the "apple doesnt fall far from the ole tree".

the media has created this circus around Peyton's health and he himself made it very clear what his plans were during HIS interview on cbs sports pregame. Isray has come out and said" Peyton is more than a football player to me he is part of the family" - we'll see if he is a man of his word, if so Peyton will be schooling Luck(who is NOT ready to start in the NFL and win/survive) and will be on the coaching staff in some form if he cant play.If he can play who gives you a better chance to win, Peyton or a rookie QB? think about it?

this is a no brainer.. and no way you trade him in the AFC even if he asked... he would be an Indy Killer

Dumb !@# posters. Are ya'll stupid. So you think that Archie waved down some reporter and said "I've got something to say about my son." I'm sure the reason he's in the media is because the media wanted him to be. MORONS

Who gives a Sh!t what Archie Manning says. Payton is an Audlt he can speek for himself. Archie is nothing more than a washed up old Midiocre football player. If it doesn't come from Paytons mouth stop writing it and shut up.

Like listening to LeBron's momma. No one cares what you have to say. You were a loser, and because you have to stick your nose into your son's affairs, you will always be a loser.

I love it when people get all fired up about Archie speaking to the media. This a family that is well accustomed to talking with the media. There isn't a statement made that comes from Archie that Peyton is not in agreement with. You can take whatever Archie says as if it were coming from Peyton. If not, Archie would have replied like he did when asked about NY "I'm not going to get into that".

Archie:  shut up.  If I want to hear something on the Peyton Manning situation, I want to hear it from Peyton.
