With three games remaining in the 2011 NFL season, it's just about time to flip into full "Where will Peyton Manning play in 2012?" mode. (Trust me: from February 8th to March 8th, you'll hear a lot about it.) His father Archie Manning said Sunday that Peyton would prefer to stay with the Colts.

Of course, as long as Eli Manning is playing -- he beat Green Bay at Lambeau on Sunday with Archie watching -- the Manning machine might as well already be started.

"Peyton kind of likes his roots in Indy,” Archie told the New York Post after watching his other son beat the Packers at Lambeau Field. "We’ll see what happens there. If that doesn’t work and he can get healthy we’ll see. That’ll all work out. He’s just trying to get healthy."

Archie was asked specifically about the rumors that the Jets could be interested in Peyton and declined to discuss that.

“I’m not going to get into that," Archie replied.

It shouldn't be surprising that Peyton wants to stay with the Colts. He's due a lot of money, it's the only team he's ever played for, he's comfortable with the organization and the idea of being discarded by the one team he's ever played for so they can draft a rookie with the first pick can't be comforting.

But Peyton has little control over whether or not he stays with the Colts. That boils down to his health, their specific plan to rebuild the roster and myriad other factors that will be fleshed out over the next month or so.

Archie Manning: Peyton 'likes his roots in Indy'

Chances are a reporter stuck a mike in Archie's face when he was just trying to watch his kid play va football game. I doubt he held a press conference afterwards to announce this. Think about it... Don't be such a hater!

Eman your an idiot. The media is going to ask his father, his brother and anyone else they have the opportunity to ask. For you to insuate that he his hiding behind his father is stupid. And if he is relying on his father for advice there is nothing wrong with that either. He would probably just sit back and let his agent handle things though I do believe he wants to stay in Indy which only makes sense. He is way better than Luck or anyone else they have or could have on the roster in the next 2 years. After that maybe not but certainly in that time frame. I don't even like the colts but I certainly respect one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game.

Either Archie still runs his boy Peyton or Peyton doesn't want to say anything that may damage his marketability so he defers to daddy to make all his comments for him. Either way, it's a joke. Time to Man Up Peyton and start speaking for yourself. From him not being able to co-exist with Andrew Luck, to him being able to co-exist with any player to him liking his roots in Indy, Archie never misses a chance to speak on his man-boy's behalf. Meanwhile, Peyton just hangs back and keeps his mouth shut like a good boy.

He needs to retire.  Indy isn't winning anything next year with or without him.  It's your neck dude - take your 100 mil and enjoy the rest of your life.

Does Peyton still live at home with his Daddy?  Or can he speak for himself yet?  I like Peyton Manning, great player and good guy, and I hope he comes back at a high level.

But Archie you need to get your mouth out of the press.  All you do Archie is whin and cry like a baby when the press puts your son's names in articles.  You are the reason everyone thinks Eli is a whinning cry baby...because of your antics at the draft!  And you are hurting their image and chances to grow up like a man!  STOP IT!

Sometimes in your football fan life you're given 2 shots at watching greatness. Ultimately, it is that wonderment at what you're seeing year in and year out that makes you hope it lasts forever; sadly it does not. My all-time favorite player Johnny Unitas, and now Peyton Manning. Peyton needs to be healthy, period. Then I hope he stays. I'm not quite ready to move on but  2011 sure was a glimpse into the not-so-distant future. Sigh.
