Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

It's one thing for Jason Pierre-Paul to declare that the Giants would beat the Packers because, well, he apparently knows what he's talking about. ("We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said after New York beat Atlanta. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best.")

It's something else when Antrel Rolle makes similar proclamations; his track record in such endeavors is far from spotless. In fact, it's pretty embarrassing.

The Redskins somehow managed to sweep the Giants this season and following their Week 1 win, Rolle went on the radio and said, "As a team and organization we know that the Washington Redskins are not a better team than us. We know that. Hands down. If we played them 100 times they might win five."

Washington would win again when the two teams met 14 weeks later.

Now, five days from the NFC Championship Game, Rolle is again making with the guarantees.

"I might be a little biased, but in our minds, we can’t be beat,” Rolle said via the New York Daily News' Peter Botte. “We’re extremely confident and we’ve given ourselves the reasons to feel that way. We have to continue to give ourselves those reasons, and we will. We have no doubts. It’s right there at the tip of our tongues.”

Rolle's comments aren't unreasonable (well, except that part about winning being on the "tip of our tongues" -- but we knew what he meant); the Giants did just beat the defending Super Bowl champs who went 15-1 during the 2011 regular season. And unlike his observations about the Redskins' inadequacies, Rolle didn't call out the 49ers. He just spoke to how well New York has been playing.

“You can put an All-Star team in front of us, and we’re going to go out there and compete,” he continued. “We don’t fold. No matter what happens, if there’s a bad call, or things aren’t going our way, we’re not going to break. We’re not going to lose focus on what’s at stake and our ultimate goal.”

Rolle's right about that last part: the Giants were hosed twice against the Packers and it didn't matter; they still blew Green Bay out at home. There's something to be said for that, especially since New York has to travel to San Francisco next weekend.

And while we don't have any issues with Rolle's latest remarks, we'd still feel a lot better if they came from JPP. Because, really, there's nothing more shameful than getting called out by Rex Grossman for being bad at your job.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

He's right!... Giants can't be beat by another team - only by themselves and the way they are rollin' right now.... freight train!

And yeah yeah the refs kept GB in it......the refs mess up in every sport so get over that bs.  It happens...the games live not in slow mo.

The refs also had the benefit of instant replay, Yet they were the only ones in the world other than you that didn't see that Greg Jennings fumbled before he was down. That and a few other blatanly missed calls have some people thinking the officiating was heavily biased in the Packers favor.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

People are knocking the NFC West as weak, well what about the NFC East?  Their division winner went 9-7 and got their asses kicked twice by the last place team in their division.  Add to the fact that they got their asses kicked again at home by one of those supposedly inferior NFC West teams (Seattle).  Dallas was 8-5 and had the division in hand before they choked and lost their last 3 games.  Philly didn't play up to potential and finished 8-8 and the Redskins stumbed in at 5-11.

Giants are on a nice run but it ends Sunday.  49ers are for real and they will shut up the doubters.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

Rolle is just happy they don't have to play the Saints because the Saints thrashed them.  The Saints don't lose at home and the Giants know it they were playing the Saints this week they wouldn't be talking.  Don't sleep on the 49ers they are a much better defense than the Packers.  The defensive front will be a force to reckon with and Eli will get knocked around.  Oh yeah the 49ers have knock out 7 count them 7 starting rb's this season.  Jacobs and Bradshaw are injury risks and will get hit hard this week trust me.Cool

It'll be the David Akers show... that's it, David Akers. He's the kicker you couldn't name.  Giants win, 24-19.

I don't know if the 49ers are on their way to winning the Super Bowl, but they are on their way. Unlike the overrated Packers the 49ers won't turn the ball over. They will play this game the way their coach expects them to play it with - quiet confidance and passionate.

Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

Hey verhalk! Your comparing apples to sour grapes. your right about one thing Vernan Davis is a great tightend, BUT!! The niners have no one else!! Craptree sucks so your stuck going to Davis. The G-men have so many weapons they don't need to go to the tightend all the time! Jack Ballard is a great tightend, just Eli has Hicks, Manningham and Cruz to go too. Ballard is just a Cherry-on-top..So don't even go there with Davis.. Greenbay had so many more weapons then the Niners.. BETTER ONES!! And if you want to add to the list, so did Atlanta and Dallas!! The niners are in a divsion that absultly sucks!! The East and North are so much better.. So don't go away mad, just hope for a Elite quarterback in the upcoming draft. ;)
