Antrel Rolle on Giants: 'We can't be beat'

It's one thing for Jason Pierre-Paul to declare that the Giants would beat the Packers because, well, he apparently knows what he's talking about. ("We’re going to win," Pierre-Paul said after New York beat Atlanta. "One hundred percent we’re going to win ... because we’re the best.")

It's something else when Antrel Rolle makes similar proclamations; his track record in such endeavors is far from spotless. In fact, it's pretty embarrassing.

The Redskins somehow managed to sweep the Giants this season and following their Week 1 win, Rolle went on the radio and said, "As a team and organization we know that the Washington Redskins are not a better team than us. We know that. Hands down. If we played them 100 times they might win five."

Washington would win again when the two teams met 14 weeks later.

Now, five days from the NFC Championship Game, Rolle is again making with the guarantees.

"I might be a little biased, but in our minds, we can’t be beat,” Rolle said via the New York Daily News' Peter Botte. “We’re extremely confident and we’ve given ourselves the reasons to feel that way. We have to continue to give ourselves those reasons, and we will. We have no doubts. It’s right there at the tip of our tongues.”

Rolle's comments aren't unreasonable (well, except that part about winning being on the "tip of our tongues" -- but we knew what he meant); the Giants did just beat the defending Super Bowl champs who went 15-1 during the 2011 regular season. And unlike his observations about the Redskins' inadequacies, Rolle didn't call out the 49ers. He just spoke to how well New York has been playing.

“You can put an All-Star team in front of us, and we’re going to go out there and compete,” he continued. “We don’t fold. No matter what happens, if there’s a bad call, or things aren’t going our way, we’re not going to break. We’re not going to lose focus on what’s at stake and our ultimate goal.”

Rolle's right about that last part: the Giants were hosed twice against the Packers and it didn't matter; they still blew Green Bay out at home. There's something to be said for that, especially since New York has to travel to San Francisco next weekend.

And while we don't have any issues with Rolle's latest remarks, we'd still feel a lot better if they came from JPP. Because, really, there's nothing more shameful than getting called out by Rex Grossman for being bad at your job.

Love it.  Keep the yapping Giants.  All the Niners need is more motivation....

No one cares about these 4 teams: Criminals, Cheaters, Cry-Babies and Cocky Giants.

BlakNGoldPosse--I'm sorry that the NFL hurt your feelings while you were on your period. Go take some more estrogen and cry yourself to sleep. Tebow and Friends beat you. Period. You want to talk about a cry baby? Geez.

I got no problem with the way he said this one.

"IN OUR MINDS...we can't be beat."  The comments about Washington were ill-chosen, but these are on the money.  He and his teammates feel very, very confident.

NFL Playoffs are over. No one cares about these 4 teams: Criminals, Cheaters, Cry-Babies and Cocky Giants. NFL... hope you are happy... your preferred teams all made it. Kind of odd that Goodells two favorite teams made it??? If the Steelers were allowed to play the way the Ravens & Niners are allowed to play, they would have the Super Bowl wrapped up. Steelers can't hit anyone high or hard. What a joke the NFL is. Damn shame Goodell is in charge  he is more worthless than Chris Collinsworth's announcing skills.

He's just Rolle Playing!  I hope it don't come back to bite him in the butt.  That Giants secondary didn't look too good to me in Greenbay (my opinion) but the Dline came thru when they had to.  ELI is WAY BETTER than that 9er qb who shall remain nameless.  I think ELI takes it to another level and makes rice a roni out of the 9ers and in the process makes them believers. Surprised

This is just to confirm that your comments Rolle did make it to the West Coast and are currently posted in the 49ers locker room...Anymore BIG Mouth Giant Players want to chime in you're more than welcomed to do so...One thing that always kept me being a 49er fan and that was when we had someone on the team that decided to pop off they always made sure their existence on the team didn't exist long. The 49ers will be there Sunday and without talking smack they'll just go out there and knock some more players out with some clean hits...and nothing would make me happier than to see you Rolle be the first.

Figured Rolle would be smart enough to learn from others' mistakes. if rex ryan hadn't yapped so much heading into the giants/jets game, jets may have won that game, giants might not even be in the playoffs. either way, they're lucky as hell to be there, and there are a boat load of teams more than capable of beating the giants anywhere, anytime. san fran happens to be one.

Caughlin must hate this.  I have a feeling the Giants are going to get smacked pretty hard in the mouth by a tough SF team at home this week.  We'll see how well they handle it.

In my opinion "they will get beat"  Which matters just about as much as Rolle's opinion...NOT AT ALL!!  Just shut up and play.
