Although Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski appeared to suffer a bad ankle injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s AFC title win and although he was wearing a walking boot in the locker room after the game, a source tells the Boston Herald that Gronkowski will be ready to play in Super Bowl XLVI.

Championship Weekend Recap

“He’ll be ready to go,” the source told the Herald.

Gronkowski has become one of Tom Brady’s favorite receiving targets -- not to mention one of the two-best tight ends in the league -- and in New England’s win over the Ravens, he had five catches for 87 yards. Although he returned to the game after his injury, suffered when he was tackled awkwardly by Ravens safety Bernard Pollard, he didn’t catch any other passes.

But with two weeks to heal before the NFL’s final game of the season, Gronkowski has some time to get his ankle well. Which obviously would be great news for Brady and the Patriots

Report: Gronk's ankle will be OK for Super Bowl

Hello? Disbelievers that think that Gronk can't even walk, much less play in the Super Bowl, take note. He came back into the game 9 plays later and played for the rest of the game. He will play in the Super Bowl.

Wow, thanks for telling us what "a source" told you. Who is the source - your drinking buddy? No one knows if he will be able to play or not yet, except an authentic fortune telling physician.  BLUF:  You don't know anything.

Report: Gronk's ankle will be OK for Super Bowl

It's a good thing for Gronk.  Now his whole body, not just the ankle, will get some rest.

Maurkice Pouncey Part 2

I remember Maurkice Pouncey saying after last year's AFC championship he would play in the Super Bowl despite a high ankle sprain.  He was perhaps the most critical player on the entire team given the futility of the offensive line and there was no way they could beat the Packers with him on the bench.

With the lack of a true deep threat, Gronkowski has become perhaps the most critical player on the Patriots roster and they can't beat a good Giants team with him on the bench.  Nobody plays with a severe high ankle sprain in two weeks.  Prediction: Gronkowski doesn't play and the Patriots will lose because of the injury.

I agree-- I thought he was done for the season.  Did they have to keep showing it though?  I was eating wings at the time and put a bit of a damper on my appetite!

I thought the same too 1bigbearfan.
I can't stand the Patriots but that was tough to watch a man's ankle turn that way. He's one tough sob that for sure. I've have my fair share of horrible ankle injuries but (knock on wood) nothing that has looked that bad.

With you all here. definitely thought it was a break.  had to kinda dislocate it though, it was pretty gross watching it in slow mo.  was shocked when he actually walked on it a bit as he walked off.  Thats one tough dude.

Report: Gronk's ankle will be OK for Super Bowl

When they showed the replay of the play where he received the injury I immeduately said, "Oh my God, he broke his ankle, he's out!"  Then after seeing him at least limping on it going to the locker room I figured it may just be a sprain.  Must be nice to be so young and limber that one can turn their ankle at 90-degrees and actually not have a break. Unbelievable and great news for the Pats who will need all hands on deck for a tough Giants team that is firing on all cylinders.

I'm with you on that, Tiger.  It's amazing to look at some of these tackles where the ankle/foot gets twisted and it ends up being a sprain.  Off the top of my head, Gronk and big Ben.  Then, you see D. Murry's and his ends up being broken.
