ESPN First Take co-host Skip Bayless is known for many things: unconditional faith in Tebowmania, contrarian viewpoints, and TALKING IN A VERY LOUD VOICE when making his case.

Shortly after Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff honked what would've been the game-tying field goal in the AFC Championship game against the Patriots, Bayless tweeted this:

RealSkipBayless
Honestly, I felt sorry for Suggs/Ray/EReed. Fought guts out, lost b/c a nonplayer missed easy kick. WHY I HATE FG KICKING. Ban it!

Doing away with kickers is a predictably tired argument that pops up every time a game is lost on a botched field-goal attempt.

On Monday, Cundiff's teammate, linebacker Terrell Suggs, called into First Take to talk about what transpired in Foxboro the night before. Bayless asked Suggs if the confusion leading up to Cundiff's missed kick was because the Patriots were beneficiaries of "home cooking" from the officials.

Suggs was having none of it. In much the same way a grizzled parent dismisses their unruly kid begging for attention, an unemotional Suggs kindly asked Bayless to join him back on Earth.

“Stop that. I know what you’re doing,” Suggs said, chastising Bayless. “Once again, stop it. Be an analyst. Don’t be a d-----bag. You know what I meant.”

(You can watch Suggs calmly put Bayless in his place here.)

A great moment in unintentional comedy, for sure. But it gets better.

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe weighed in on Bayless' "I hate FG kicking...ban it" tweet. (If you're not familiar with Kluwe's work, he's not your typically mild-manndered punter. He has opinions on matters outside football, is smart, and wickedly funny. In short: he's somebody you want to keep on your good side. Just ask former NFL wide receiver Nate Jackson.)

After Suggs scolded Bayless for his over-the-top schtick, Kluwe piled on via Twitter:

Couldn't have said it better myself. T. Suggs to Bayless on First Take: "Skip, be an analyst. Don't be a d-----bag." #wordsofwisdom

And this, a few hours later...

I'm confused @RealSkipBayless. After Super Bowl XXXVI, you wrote that Vinatieri should be in the HoF. But now kickers are non-players?

How is Adam going to make it to the Hall of Fame if you abolish his position @RealSkipBayless?! YOUR WORDS MAKE MY BRAIN ASPLODE #factssuck

So, yes, don't make Kluwe angry. You won't like him when he's angry. The NFL can confirm this (Kluwe has taken great pleasure in mocking the league for, among other things, using season-ending injuries to promote fantasy football and their wishy-washy rules on injuries, fake or otherwise.)

Bayless has yet to respond to Kluwe.

Meanwhile, SportsIllustrated.com's Richard Deitsch, who follows the media closely as part of his day job, offered this frank assessment Monday afternoon:

ESPN execs have no idea how badly Bayless's flotsam reflects on its network & those at ESPN trying to do good work.

Suggs, Kluwe defend Cundiff, take aim at Bayless

Bayless is a bum. Plain and simple. He tries to get under players' skin and get the mad and will then proceed to make them look like the bad guy for having such short fuses and being barbarians. Twice in two weeks Bayless has gone on to call out Suggs and twice Suggs has put him down. Ban Kicking from the NFL??? Look, I'm a die hard Ravens fan and was crushed when Cundiff and Evans both choked at their time in the limelight, even wanting Cundiff out of Baltmore next season. Yet after a day, the sting is gone, and fans realize, $*it happens, and that we are all just human. The thing is, Suggs is right. For 4 years straight Flacco and the Ravens have been in the playoffs, and each time have won at least one round in the playoffs. Bayless is hated by his peers, is a Tebow flamer, and a flip flopping "analyst". His days are going to be short lived in that job, and soon will be begging for a handout. Keep trying some yellow journalism for your "analysis" Skippy. You just make yourself look more like a D-BAG

Skip Bayless has zero credibility.  All he is there for is to stir up trouble.

I love how people are so quick to shoot the kicker for missing a kick. How many games have kickers won in the history of the game? That would be A LOT! Give them the respect they deserve.

Gere - you might want to look up the definition of "lemmings" -

Lemmings follow mindlessly -

3 of the previous 4 comments derided Bayless which totally contradicts your opening statement

You are all such Lemmings. Bayless is just part of the the Wrestle Maniation of sports journalism. He wants to be part of the story with stupid and/or contrarian statements. He loves your responses. They feed the beast. Let's all just ignore him because he will last longer with the more controversy that surrounds him.

I say good for Suggs and his teammates in supporting Cundiff.  It was tremendously disappointing for me as a Raven fan to watch the missed kickbut that is also part of the joy and satisfaction in watching a tough, hard-played game.  Unfortuntely, there are people who fail along with the ones who succeed in critical situations.

I am no fan of Skip Bayless, either.  Just another big-mouthed talking head who could quit his job tomorrow and not be missed in the least.  Good for Suggs in putting him in his place.  Congrats to the Pats and good luck in the Super Bowl!

Skip Bayless needs to stick to what he does best...sucking Tebow's a$$. I used to not mind the guy, but lately it's as if he feels he isn't getting enough run as a commentator/analyist so he needs to go over the top for headlines.
Shut up Skip and stick to what you do best...give unconditional love to that second rate QB, Timmy the T.

I cannot stand listening to Bayless.  I just watch just so I can hear what idiotic things he has to say.  It is sickening how he still thinks that he would rather have Favre than Brees or Rodgers and chastizes ANYONE who thinks otherwise.  How many big INT's has he thrown?  There is reason Favre is also the all-time picks leader.  And his love and defense of Tebow is sickening.  He always gives him the credit for wins, but when they lose, it is NEVER his fault.  He comes up with some lame excuses.  When the Packers won the SB, he refused to give Rodgers credit and still said Brady was better.  He thinks Brady and Romo are the two best QB's even though Romo always chokes.  He is very biased to the Cowboys (his team), Denver, and Tom Brady.  And his comments are so hypocritical.  Like the rest of ESPN, he has a love affair with the Patriots.  If anyone does well on the Pats, Cowboys, or Denver/Whatever Team Tebow is On, he will praise those players.  Because Vinatieri was on ESPN's darlings (the Patriots), he called him a HOF kicker.  But when any other team's kicker badly misses a kick they should make (in this case the Ravens), he babbles on and says that the kicker is not even a player.  He is so arrogant and chastizes&nb
sp;ANYONE who has different opinions of him.  How ESPN continues to employ this arrogant jerk is beyond me.  I saw him "threaten" Suggs last week and talk to him disrespectfully when he called in and Suggs put him in his place then.  The more you watch Bayless, the more one grows to despise him and he needs to be kicked off the air.
