AriansBy Josh Katzowitz

Only a scant few days after former Steelers assistant Bruce Arians supposedly retired from coaching,it sounds like he has a new job.

According to a tweet from XTRA 910’s Mike Jurecki, Arians “is likely to become the next coordinator of the Colts.” Later, ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote that Arians has agreed to the job and will fly to Indianapolis on Monday to "to review and sign [the] contract."

So much for retirement, eh?

Well, it sounds like that’s not exactly what happened at the end of Arians’ tenure in Pittsburgh, especially since reports have emerged that Arians’ expiring contract would not have been renewed and that team president Art Rooney II didn’t give Arians a reason why the team was letting him go.

But the release of Arians might cause Pittsburgh more problems, because an obviously-displeased quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he will march up to Rooney’s office and figure out why Arians wasn’t retained.

Pagano, the Ravens defensive coordinator, matched wits with Arians twice last season, and Baltimore held Pittsburgh to a combined 27 points in dealing the Steelers two losses.

The two also coached together with the Browns from 2001-03, so there should be plenty of familiarity between the two.

Report: Bruce Arians hired as Colts OC

We now know who will replace Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger.  After Big Ben's meeting with the Rooney, Ben will be traded to Indy to continue to work with Arians for Peyton Manning as Manning has tick off his owner and has had his GM and coach fired.  All problems solved!  This is a joke, don't go ballistic on me!

"How sweet is this? lol  Ben will be really agitated now.  I can't wait to read/hear how Ben's mtg w/ Rooney goes.  And where is the Head Coach in all this?  Is Tomlin another Marvin Lewis? No say so in the overall scheme of things? Seems like Ben should be meeting w/ Tomlin. Interesting."

He's a damn black coach. So, of course, he doesn't have any say in the overall scheme of things..... This is the NFL we're talking about, remember? What owner gives a black coach who's in his employ REAL power? No examples of this..... Given the "state" of things, no current owner would do that (or has done that in the past), PERIOD.

big ben s a real good quarterback. big ben has emotional problem. bg ben is immature. pittsburg loses games when big ben is hurt of big ben is not plahying. without big ben throwing the ball, the vaunted pittsburg running game grinds to a halt. if it was over money, then the rooney's are a bunch of idiots. there is no amount of money worth big ben not beinghappy. look for pitt to drop offoffensvely. at least at the first part of the season.

I am a Steelers fan...and if you LOVE this hire so much...I'd suggest calming down. His red zone offense is laughable...and his offense overall sucked in the running game. He wants to throw the ball 500 times a game..and screens to running backs are almost non-existant. I hope you like the bubble screen to aging stars...that's what his offense is all about.

i LOVE this hire.

obviously some offensive stars for the steeler are angry(especially big ben and this is no secret) that arians was let go and arian's was peytons qb coach from 1998-2000. he was important part of mentoring peyton in his early years along with tom moore.  peyton or luck OR BOTH...arians is going to have a great qb to run the offense!

LOVE LOVE how this team is coming together little by little. you have to be in denial to think the colts wont be back at the top sooner than later

i just feel peyton will still be a part of this team in some capacity...whether playing or not.

Poorly written article. Previously mentioned error seems to have been fixed. However there's still the last two sentences. In context to the rest of the article, they make zero sense. There's an obvious reference to Chuck Pagano missing. Either that or the author idiotically assumes every reader will know he's the new head coach of the Colts.
