On Saturday we brought you the report that a decision on Peyton Manning's future was made "weeks ago," and that Jim Irsay and the Colts were prepared to move on without No. 18 before they ever hired Ryan Grigson as the team's general manager.

That news spread like wildfire and eventually made its way into Irsay's ears, which means that his opinion made its way onto his Twitter feed.

"No he hasn't been released nor was a decision reached weeks ago," Irsay tweeted on Friday night.

Of course Manning hasn't been released: Manning wouldn't be talking about himself as the Colts quarterback if he'd been released. And he'd probably already be negotiating with other teams.

And perhaps a decision, in the official sense of the word, hasn't been reached yet. Irsay has until March 8 to make a final call on Manning and jumping the gun on his final decision wouldn't be prudent, particularly considering that Manning could make progress, physically, over the next month or so.

Neither would admitting that Manning's done in Indy immediately before the entire world turns its collective football-watching eyes onto the Colts hometown for the next week plus.

And maybe Irsay's simply leaning strongly one way and giving himself the option to flip-flop as the deadline nears.

"I can't believe how dillusional people on these boards are.... it's incredible beyond belief !!!!!!!  WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ya know, we get the fact you understand football, but the condescending remarks are becoming stronger & unneccesary.   YOUR OPINION is not necessarily the only one nor is it necessarily correct.   I happen to appreciate how you replied to my earlier post & I happened to not actually see or read a prior post by you prior to posting mine.  But there are other people here who happen to think differently & I don't necessarily think they are 100% right or wrong either.

I've watched Andrew Luck all year, get why people are foaming at the mouth over him, but I for one am not sold on him either.  You would be correct in your assessment that Luck may not WANT TO sit behind a current NFL starter but the fact still remains it COULD happen for at least the first year.  Lets try to keep this as congenial as possible as well as insightful.

You're funny and nice try but you're wrong.  First of all don't be fooled by my username, I've forgotten more about the NFL then you'll ever know son.

Second of all the players I mentioned, key players the Colts depend on with or without injuries are players over 30 years, some well over 30.

But you keep believing Peyton Manning and injuries are the only reasons the Colts sucked this year... talk to me at the end of October when the Colts are 1-7 or 2-6 again, we'll have a nice discussion at that time.

The Colts are rebuilding, they are NOT a playoff team right now let alone a contender and won't be for a while.

Wow Redwings you just said it right there. You have forgotten more about the nfl. I know more then you think boy. Don't ever call me son. don't let your name fool me.  Hahaha. Like I said before stick to hockey. By the way your lions suck and they will choke again. I'm glad to see them have a good season, but the sun shines on a dogs butt every once in awhile. I think you are just jealous because your lions are so wrapped up with stafford and johnson that they can't get manning or luck. So keep complaining to people that they are dellusional because you know so definitely that luck will not stand for being benched for a couple years like you know the man personally or something. I guess when he gets in the nfl he will have to grow up and realize that rookies don't call the shots anymore. So keep your espn draft figures to yourself. Remember when they said that reggie bush was going first, but someone else did. I guess mel kiper got that right too huh.

It makes no sense to bring Manning back. Draft Luck and move on. At lease this will come to a head shortly. Manning's roster binus is rapidly approaching.

This forum must be for new NFL fans because it certainly isn't for anybody that understands a thing about this game.  Some of the things I'm reading make me laugh out loud.   Some of you are thinking both Manning and Luck will be on the Colts this upcoming season, that one is the biggest joke of all... not gonna happen.  Not a chance in hell that can or will happen.  Luck isn't going to sign with anybody that might bench him for 2 to 3 seasons, he has no interest in being mentored by Manning and riding pine.  The Colts aren't going to pay Manning 35 million between the bonus and salary plus another 6 million to luck for a total of 40 million dollars in quarterbacks this year. And for those of you that think Manning will play in Indi for less, give your head a shake man.  Manning already has a deal with Indi, the ball is in Indi's court now. Either they honor the deal or Manning goes somewhere else, end of story.

I can't believe how dillusional people on these boards are.... it's incredible beyond belief !!!!!!!  WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This speculation is reaching Favrian levels wight the media making the news instead of reporting it. Just like the media killing Tebow's career, they have no idea what they are talking about.

Everybody want s to be the first to report on Peyton, and they don't even care if they are wrong because they simply site an unnamed source. If he is going to be available, interested teams will not fiind out on here, or from any reporter period. Peyton was great, but he is hurt and hasn't played in a year. Any team that is willing to take him, and pay him, takes a huge risk. The likely destination is Washington who needs a QB and has a lot of cap room, but without big upgrades in the Oline to protect him, he would be crazy to go to a team where he is guaranteed to get knocked around.

My guess is that he restructures his deal so that if he can't play, his bonus' are dragged out for a long time and he returns to Indy to play and or mentor the QB they draft. If not then maybe Arizona, Miami, Seattle or possibly even Minnesota would be in the mix with Washington. Other than being close to his brother and in NY where his endorsement money would go up, I really don't see the Jets as being a desirable team for him to go to. Fitzgerald would obviously be the best receiver he has had in a long time. A few of his receivers in indy have been good, but Manning made them much much better. It would be interesting to see what he could do with a truly great one.
