On Saturday we brought you the report that a decision on Peyton Manning's future was made "weeks ago," and that Jim Irsay and the Colts were prepared to move on without No. 18 before they ever hired Ryan Grigson as the team's general manager.

That news spread like wildfire and eventually made its way into Irsay's ears, which means that his opinion made its way onto his Twitter feed.

"No he hasn't been released nor was a decision reached weeks ago," Irsay tweeted on Friday night.

Of course Manning hasn't been released: Manning wouldn't be talking about himself as the Colts quarterback if he'd been released. And he'd probably already be negotiating with other teams.

And perhaps a decision, in the official sense of the word, hasn't been reached yet. Irsay has until March 8 to make a final call on Manning and jumping the gun on his final decision wouldn't be prudent, particularly considering that Manning could make progress, physically, over the next month or so.

Neither would admitting that Manning's done in Indy immediately before the entire world turns its collective football-watching eyes onto the Colts hometown for the next week plus.

And maybe Irsay's simply leaning strongly one way and giving himself the option to flip-flop as the deadline nears.

Irsay is a goof-ball, he should just shut it until they are ready to do something. Why keep chirping something every day?

IF and If Peyton can play, he will go nowhere near that big FAT FOOT FETISH DOUGHNUT EATING SEXY REXY! manning has way too much class and respects the game too much to play for that team. Until the inner turmoil is resolves there he has way too many options! i said it 2 weeks ago that if he is healthy and decides to play elsewhere alex smith will be looking for a new home! what a signing that becomes and the NFC becomes a powerhouse!

Is this guy a drunk....... He looks like such a worn down loser to have all that money and to look that ruff. I would like to see luck hold out and not want to go to indy. Manning made this place what it is the guy gets hurt and the whole team falls apart. They should keep this out of the media besides the bigger story is eli

and wayne weaver wasnt going to sell the jaguars either.  told us over and over...not going to sell this team.  oh wait...HE LIED and DID sell.

come on ...all the owners lie, all the coaches lie... and then there is the media.

its really no different than players playing like crap for years and then in a contract year....suddenly he is a world beater, looks like an ALL PRO and gets a huge contract and then suddenly goes back to the crap play of years before...see marcedes lewis for example.

its a business. this...the colts left in the middle of the night...WAAAAAAAA. get over it. baltimore stole clevelands team. the list is long of unfair happenings.

The media has been horribly misinformed (what a surprise) about the majority of Colts related speculation this off-season, so I’m choosing not to get worked up over stupid rumors until official statements are released

Oh yeah, I believe the Irsay clan.  These are the same guy who brought you the "sneak out in the middile of the night" escape from Baltimore.  Who is benifitting most from this day-to-day nonsense?  It would seem to me that it's the Colts organization and the media.  Tell me that the Colts haven't made up their minds on their first pick in the draft and I'll believe that as much as I believed they didn't know what Manning's status was before the season began.  While I've never been that big of a fan of Manning, there's no doubt that he is the one who does not have the advantage in deciding his status, except whether he just plain retires.

Irsay holds press conference, fibs to public

C'mon. Just spit it out. He's out unless he restructures in order to remain with Luck as his tutor. I hate it when these guys think that "spin" isn't the same as just plain with-holding the truth.

Peyton Manning Is Turning Into Brett Favre!

I agree with you about the Manning family is getting being force fed down our throats and I'm burnt-out already! I'm going to take a chill pill on them because I've done my fair share of posting about them on sites all over the online sports world in the past few days, but this is just too much! After I finish a post on my about where the best landing spot is for Peyton Manning, I'm taking a "Manning Family Vacation" until there's a move made.

This is turning into a .....Brett Favre type of circus that we had to endure when the will he or won't he play drama was doing it's yearly sports media dance. I didn't really start feeling that way until today and it made me sick to my stomach!
