Rodgers 'embarrassed' by NFC effort in Pro Bowl

A. Rodgers said he was embarrassed by the NFC's players effort in the Pro Bowl (US Presswire).

By Josh Katzowitz

The Pro Bowl, as we all know, is a joke.

We tried making some suggestions last year (um, hello, running clock?!?), and this year, we described why the changes the NFL did make didn’t improve the quality of the game.

Not only do we see this game as an exercise in irrelevance, mostly because the players’ effort is lacking, but apparently so does Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

During his regular appearance on ESPN Milwaukee, Rodgers said  the NFC players “embarrassed themselves” during the game last Sunday. He also said he was "disappointed in the lack of pride.”

Said Rodgers: “I feel like there should be some pride involved in a game like that, and I was just surprised by some of the efforts of some of the guys. This was my second Pro Bowl. (I) played in the one in 2010. It was down in Fort Lauderdale/Miami. I felt that that one had a lot more energy.

“The AFC side obviously had more energy. I think they were upset about the second onside kick (called by Packers coach Mike McCarthy), and at that point they played a lot harder than we did. But even in the early going, they were playing definitely harder than we were.”

Obviously, there’s no reason for the Pro Bowl selections to go all out and risk injury, and the NFL enforces special rules in the game to decrease those chances as well. But when the defensive linemen are basically shaking hands with the offensive linemen each time the ball is snapped and when would-be-tacklers let ball-rushers run right by them for touchdowns, you have to ask yourself, what’s the point of watching this?

And maybe now Rodgers is asking himself, what’s the point of playing?

Rodgers 'embarrassed' by NFC effort in Pro Bowl

Either the NFL finds a way to make this game relevant or just get rid of it. I remember when Robert Edwards destroyed his career at a NFL sponsored event at the Pro-Bowl.  The NFL tried to snake their way out of responsibility for his injury. What player in his right mind is going to take any chances getting hurt at the Pro-Bowl. It would take some very big insurance policies for the players to even try to make the gamer entertaining. The NFL, in their arrogance, think they can put anything on the field and fans will buy into it. The Pro-Bowl has become the new Mr Irrelevant.

Rodgers 'embarrassed' by NFC effort in Pro Bowl

Its a party you should enjoy.  We all know that the probowl is a joke of a game what it really is a free trip for those that put an effort in the regular season to get there an unwind.  I am sure most all you party together and get to know each other on a different level then just being an opponent.  Hell all week long you guys are all drinking and shooting the bull who the heck whats to go and smash into a new friend when it dont really matter.  But rodgers and the packers 15- 1 record means absolutely nothing seeing they didnt make it past their first playoff game against the giants.  So instead of going to the show you guys got to goof off in hawaii.  The packers should of been all happy with not getting hit hard cant touch or even look funny at rodgers without drawing a penalty anyways.  you guys needed to relax.  any  who the bears still got one up on you packers because when the bears went 15-1 they won their superbowl. So put that in your big head and smoke it.

I stopped watching the probowl along time ago due to the obvious unwritten rules by the players. Rule one. Dont get hurt. Rule two don't hurt somebody else in a meaningless game.  A player hurt means a player cut and a loss of millions of dollars.

The only thing the Probowl is good for is probowl rosters on videogames.

Rodgers should SHUT UP

Wow, Aaron you have the balls to call out certain players in the Probowl game, but Not youre own team??   Nobody cares about the pro bowl. You and your team, should be Embarrassed with your mental preparation, effort and lack of Focus/Execution in your playoff game. Thats the real story here!!  Grow some balls and figure the easy things out man. Whos going to play their hardest in an game after the season is done.  Youre a Qb, easy, you dont have to go tackle anyone and Are not getting hit in the pro bowl. One Super Bowl win and everyone thinks your'e the top qb in the game, You have alot to learn to be a leader and make crucial plays in the CLUTCH.  15-1 this year isnt that great, considering the teams we beat and how we beat them. Focus on the Packers and stop your whining. Nobody cares

I'm going out on a limb here and saying that MOST of you, if selected to this game, would do the same.  I don't blame these guys for not wanting to risk their future on a meaningless game.  The problem is not a lack of pride.  It's the reality that football is a violent sport.  They put their bodies on the line for 16 plus weeks.  It's the NFL that needs to quit milking this cow and just make it ALL-PRO and be done with it.  I have never watched more than 5 minutes of the Pro Bowl and never will.
