LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

INDIANAPOLIS -- LeSean McCoy had a heck of a season in 2011, rushing for 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns. It netted him the FedEx Ground Player of the Year on Wednesday at the Super Bowl. And it also landed him a trip to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl.

While there, McCoy was on the NFC team that Aaron Rodgers believes should be "embarrassed" by a lack of effort. Actually, he was "one of those guys" that didn't try, and said so himself on Wednesday.

"Yeah? I'm one of those guys," McCoy said when asked about Rodgers comments. "You walk around every practice and the guys before the games on other teams are like 'take your time' because we're going on a very slow pace, very easy.

"And you get out there and you see guys half-doing it and you do the same thing."

It's not like this should be too big a surprise: the quality of the game is directly related to the intensity of the effort when it comes to the Pro Bowl, and that's exactly why it was a sloppy boring game that drew criticism from everyone remotely involved in the process. (That the game still managed to pull big ratings should tell you exactly how popular the NFL is.)

With all the complaints from fans and the media -- and some players -- it wouldn't be surprising to find out that McCoy's comments didn't sit well with the league, even if he is just talking about an All-Star Game.

I'd just as soon the Eagles rest their players. 8-8, who needs another injury. And freak accidents happen in any game.

I don't watch All Star games b/c they have meaning.  I watch them for the offensive potential.  A 10-8 NHL all star game is a good all star game. And there better be more dunks than free throws in the NBA all star game.  Bud Selig has brought meaning the MLB game, but it doesn't interest me any more than previously - just that some of the players have something to play for.  Let's face it, the NFL players who make the game and play in it are beat up.  No other all star game comes at the end of the season.  I feel badly for the fans who paid to watch the game but frankly they have to know what they're getting: Players from teams that aren't in the Super Bowl (re. losers) and who are exhausted after a long season.

Let's just can the whole game. It's obvious- these days, its not about the fans or the game, its about the $$$.  Goodell is not going to convince these guys to play hard.

Did anybody notice the score 59-41

100 pts imply to me that most of the offensive players played their butts off!  LeSean is acting like a bad employee who sees somebody be lazy so he decides to be too.  Shame.  LOL

You know, I agree here.  I'm think it sucks that season ticket holders are down a game a year because of this.  You won't see players like McCoy jumping on a plane to go to London in the winter....  He is going for the free Hawaii trip!

Good for him!! If he went 100% he probably would have tore an ACL or MCL, been out for 18 months of rehab and came back not nearly as good as he is now. Bravo!!

This says all you need to know about Cowboy fans!!!

bscain, come on now. Don't paint us all with the same brush, unless you want people to think all Eagles fans are just like the one who posted how awesome he thinks it would be to see Manning and Brady suffer career-ending injuries in the SB.

I don't blame  him.  Football is a violent sport, and to ask these guys to put their health, career and earning potential at risk over a meaningless game, is just not fair.
