LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

INDIANAPOLIS -- LeSean McCoy had a heck of a season in 2011, rushing for 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns. It netted him the FedEx Ground Player of the Year on Wednesday at the Super Bowl. And it also landed him a trip to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl.

While there, McCoy was on the NFC team that Aaron Rodgers believes should be "embarrassed" by a lack of effort. Actually, he was "one of those guys" that didn't try, and said so himself on Wednesday.

"Yeah? I'm one of those guys," McCoy said when asked about Rodgers comments. "You walk around every practice and the guys before the games on other teams are like 'take your time' because we're going on a very slow pace, very easy.

"And you get out there and you see guys half-doing it and you do the same thing."

It's not like this should be too big a surprise: the quality of the game is directly related to the intensity of the effort when it comes to the Pro Bowl, and that's exactly why it was a sloppy boring game that drew criticism from everyone remotely involved in the process. (That the game still managed to pull big ratings should tell you exactly how popular the NFL is.)

With all the complaints from fans and the media -- and some players -- it wouldn't be surprising to find out that McCoy's comments didn't sit well with the league, even if he is just talking about an All-Star Game.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

Why would anybody try? Why would anybody care? Obviously it is ridiculous to expect them to risk getting hurt when the game means nothing. The network should can this thing and air reruns of Top Gun and Die Hard.

Okay, so you want any of the star players from your team really getting hurt in the Pro Bowl????  Not me.  The only thing the game is good for is a score fest aimed at watching the offenses air it out.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

Except for Baseball which the game has a significant meaning (home field for World Series) there are no other all star games that the players are giving 100%. I don't even see why this is a big story. I respect Aaron Rodgers but geez he should be more worried about why he had to play in the Pro Bowl instead of the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowl is by far the worst all star game.

I'm still amazed that they can generate any revenue from that crapfest. Honestly, who watched it??

If you're not going to risk injury you shouldn't be playing the game. IT'S FOOTBALL! If you want to wear flags, shorts and t-shirts then fine, flag football it is. But don't put on full pads and refuse to hit anyone. That is an insult to our collective intelligence.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

Football is not just a game anymore, it's big business. No one in their right mind would risk injury and jeopardize a lucrative livelyhood to put on a show that means nothing except to the degenerate gambler. So that begs the question, why play the game? The true pro bowlers make great plays all year long, so what is their incentive to go all out in this game? The greats should be acknowleged and awarded, but not forced to play in a game they don't want to be a part of.

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

"LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl"    We already knew that. Everyone one who watched it knows it. What must the NFL do to put glory back  into this Pro "joke" Bowl?

LeSean McCoy admits he didn't try at the Pro Bowl

I'm really surprised that the game is still being played. If it meant something then I could see continuing it but I doesn't. I like when the announcers talk during the season about how many pro bowls a player has been to. Everybody knows that the voting is a popularity contest and doesn't have anything to do with the player stats. It's a paid trip to Hawaii..... period. What the NFL should do with that money it pays the players is donote it to charity or tell the players that the money you get goes to charity of your choice. Also make the winner the only one that gets any money going to their charity. What you will see is a lot of players deciding not to attend and this is what you do. You take 4-5 players from every team that is not a starter and change the name to The NFL Gives To Charity Bowl. Then if the game is somewhat sloppy who cares but it would probably be more competitive.

I agree with LeSean and I support him 100% and all the other NFLers who think this is a waste of time for them and the fans.  Well Goodell, you got your high offensive show and believe me IT WAS OFFENSIVE!  It stunk to high heaven.  It's a joke and it should be mothballed, JUST LIKE YOU!
