The idea of Peyton Manning playing for a team other than the Colts in 2012 seems like a lock after all the back and forth between Manning's camp and Jim Irsay in Indianapolis this week. One team that's always mentioned as a possible landing spot for Manning is the Miami Dolphins, and over the past two days, the notion of Manning's gotten revved up a little bit.

Latest from the Super Bowl

There's a report Sunday from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, where Jackson writes that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is "infatuated with the idea of signing" Manning.

Adding fuel to the fire is a report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that the Dolphins are on the "short list" of teams that Manning has interest in, if/when he leaves the Colts.

The marriage makes sense: Manning owns a condo in South Beach so he's familiar with the area. The Dolphins have a decent set of weapons headlined by Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush. Miami already has a good defense.

Much still has to unfold with Manning, and the pursuit of No. 18 could potentially blow up in the Dolphins face. Manning could be released as late as March 8; free agency begins on March 13. If Ross and Jeff Ireland chase Manning and fail to get him, Packers backup and would-be free-agency cash cow Matt Flynn could sign elsewhere.

That's not a situation that will make anyone's heart flutter in South Beach.

Report: Fins owner Ross 'infatuated' with Peyton

I think IF Manning goes anywhere, it will be Arizona or NYJ. The Jets, just because of his business sense, the Cards because of the situation he would land in. The Cards have a running game in place, a stud WR and decent role receivers, and a rapidly improving young defense that plays in doors in a weaker division. The only thing that team really needs to makes a big step forward is a QB not named Kolb or Skelton. I think the Jets would be a big mistake and just a financial sell out, so I don't see it happening. I think the idiots running the front offices of Washington and Miami exclude them from the equation as well. I think Peyton wants one more legit shot to try and win another super bowl, not any more money.

Manning to Miami because he owns a condo in South Beach? How f-ing rediculous is that? If that's the case then Manning stays in
Indy becaue he owns a house there. Seriously though, Manning is done in Indy, he will not play for the Colts again and Irsay will not release him either. Irsay could get a lot of picks/players for Manning and that's what he'll do. Look what the Raiders gave up for
Palmer? There's another stupid owner/GMout there that would give up more to get Manning.

Manning has played indoors all of his career.  He will not pursue a cold weather city whose team plays outdoors.  You can eliminate Baltimore.  Miami would make a lot of sense for Manning.  The problem with Miami is that they are in a very tough division, with the Jets and Pats (who are back in the Superbowl).  I think that the pprice for Manning may be too high for Miami.  he is damaged goods.  Manning will cost the Fish two #1 choices plus.

Miami is one of the teams on the short list that makes sense.

Baltimore and Houston (if Schaub can't come back) also would
be great destinations.

One sleeper team for you to think about though would be the
Kansas City Chiefs.  Cassell is ok but he's no Manning and this
team has a ton of weapons and a young fast defense.  A solid draft
and the return of Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry, and signing Manning
and you have the AFC West favorite!!!!

Houston - Sscaub isn't coming back.  His injury is one that is nearly impossible to recover from.  The Texans will need a legit QB and Manning will fit in perfectly.

MoonOverMiami, literally the DUMBEST comment I've ever seen... too much friction playing in the same division as Eli? That is a joke of a comment. Then you add to it "TEAMS WHERE PEYTON WOULD BE AN AUTOMATIC STARTER"? Are you stupid? He, if healthy would start on any team that doesn't own Brees, Brady, or Rodgers. Finally, Peytons 36, why the hell would whoever signs him NOT draft a QB? He is a gamble and drafting a QB to understudy him would be very good for that QB, hence Aaron Rodgers. Man are you dumb
