Report: Tom Brady's injured shoulder not serious

Tuck's sack changed the complexion of the Super Bowl. (AP)
By Ryan Wilson

We wrote about this moments after the Giants beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI: Tom Brady pre-Justin Tuck sack was a completely different player than the one after Tuck took him to the Lucas Oil Stadium Turf late in the third quarter.

Brady completed 20 of 24 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns (this includes breaking Joe Montana's Super Bowl record for consecutive completions) before Tuck got a hold of him. He was 7 of 17 for 75 yards with an interception afterwards.

At the time, we figured Brady had aggravated a left shoulder injury and that, in part, had something to do with the abrupt drop-off in production. That Brady slowly made his way to the bench and was surrounded by team doctors as they checked him out (not to mention the sight of Brian Hoyer getting loose) only confirmed the suspicions.

Well, on Wednesday, the Boston Herald's Ian Rapoport shared what he knows:
Brady landed hard on his left shoulder, aggravating the sprain from earlier in the season. The key word is “sprain.” This is the same injury that forced him to miss a practice during the AFC Championship week, an ailment he needed to manage. The aggravation didn’t lead to major injury, though, and Brady did not need to come out of the game for treatment. It also is not believed to be the kind of injury that will need to be dealt with much in the offseason.
Put differently: Tuck's hit hurt like hell but didn't cause lasting damage. Hoyer told Rapoport that “I don’t know if I’ll ever meet someone as tough as he is."

(Clearly, Hoyer hasn't met Gisele.)

After the game, one in which Brady sat dejected at his locker for a very long time, he finally spoke about the play that probably decided the outcome: the Brady-to-Welker throw-that-wasn't with four minutes left in the fourth quarter.

"Wes was running down the field and it looked like they messed the coverage up a little bit and I threw it to him," Brady said. "(Welker) went up to try and make it, as he always does, and we just couldn't connect. He's a hell of a player. I'll keep throwing the ball to him for as long as I possible can. He's a phenomenal player and teammate and I love that guy."

For his part, Welker didn't make excuses.

"The ball is right there," Welker said when asked if he was looking for it on the other shoulder. "I've just got to make the play. It's a play I've made a thousand times in practice and everything else. It comes to the biggest moment of my life and I don't come up with it. It's discouraging."

Report: Tom Brady's injured shoulder not serious

Brady gets alot of credit for the SB wins but that has more to do with a good defense{Bruschi,Harrison etc}a Great FG kicker and spygate.

C'mon man. Spygate had NOTHING to do with what's happened with the Patriots since.  You're obviously a Pats hater, and I'm ok with that because everybody is allowed to hate or cheer whoever they'd like.  But the Patriots went undefeated after they got "caught" for something like 13 or 14 games until they lost the SB on a miracle catch.  And then Brady was out the next year with an injury.  A couple years later and some re-tooling the Pats got back to the SB again.... another close loss but anybody that thinks Spygate is why the Pats haven't won since just hates them so much they can't see straight.

Report: Tom Brady's injured shoulder not serious

lets say branch, hernandez and welker catch those balls that they had their hands on. Brady would be 10 for 17 and over 125 yards after the hit. and maybe a touchdown. what would you say then? This article implies that him being scared after the hit made him play worse when the receivers dropped some passes. you cant just through stats out there to prove a point.

Report: Tom Brady's injured shoulder not serious

The only time an injury like Brady's is "not serious" is when it happens to someone other than the person analyzing it.  Football players are warriors, and Brady definitely fit the bill Sunday.  It didn't work out for him or his team, but Brady played with an injury that would have at least fifty percent of the general public taking a day or two off of work.  Unfortunately, when your job is to play QB and you are in the Super Bowl, there are no "sick days."
lol that's hilarious. Warriors. They're playing a fucking children's game, they're not warriors. They're not fighting wars, they're not risking their lives getting shot at. This isn't the military, they have freedom and they play once a week (there are practices too, but they get plenty of time off and can skip practices, try that in the military you get thrown into jail).

Are all NE fans this overly dramatic? Everyone is injured at that point in the season and if you can play through it that's what you do. The only reason this is being mentioned is because Brady fanboys want to make excuses. He lost twice just this season to Eli and the Giants, and lost during a to that point undefeated season to the Giants 4 years ago. Eli Manning, Tom Coughlin and the Giants are just better than the Patriots.

Hudson - I also heard that Wes Welker had to slow down a bit because of the route and how the play was developing so we really can't say that it was all Wes Welker's fault.  I understand he would 100% blame himself because that is the type of player he is...He isn't about to throw anyone under the bus except himself.

You're an idiot.
He also won 3 times in the Super Bowl.
And oh by the way.. have you ever been to 1 super bowl, let alone 5?
No, you haven't. So if he sucks, what does that say about you?

Report: Tom Brady's injured shoulder not serious

This is just too precious.  Brady got a boo boo on his non-throwing shoulder, an injury that would never take any self respecting QB out of any game, and their is some inuendo that this may have had something to do with the Pats loss.  Grasp at all the straws that you want but the turth is that tommy threw a bad ball, it happens.  Let Tom play and finish a game after having his nose broken.  That will never happen.  Could you see how funny that would be, tom screaming and running off the field and right to Bruce Jenner's plastic surgeon.  LOL.....  Brady is a drama queen and he always overindulges in minor aches and pains.
