Prior to the 2011 season, it was widely believed that the Eagles would land Plaxico Burress in free agency. That's mainly because Philly housed the last convict-turned-NFL-player in Michael Vick, whether that presumptive logic was right or wrong.

NFL Offseason Begins

Plax, of course, ended up playing for the Jets, and caught 45 passes for 612 yards and eight touchdowns. He'll be a free agent on March 13, though, and according to Howard Eskin of NBC 10 in Philadelphia, he "wants" to play for the Eagles this time around.

"Saw and talked to Plaxico Burress at Super Bowl and told me he wants to play for Eagles," Eskin tweeted on Wednesday. "Badly!"

We also saw Plaxico at the Super Bowl while dining at Mo's Steakhouse in Indianapolis, but we didn't get a chance to ask him any questions, because we were too busy cackling about the wide receiver giving a bro-hug to Jared Fogle of Subway. (We were too stunned to take a picture, but we have witnesses. This really happened.)

Eskin followed up on the tweet with NBC Philly's David Chang, although he wasn't quite as emphatic about it happening.

"I do believe the Eagles will take a hard look at signing Plaxico Burress," Eskin said.

Burress wasn't fantastic in 2011; though he tied for the 11th-most touchdowns in 2011, he certainly wasn't close to the 11th-best wide receiver in the league. He's not going to be a deep threat at his age, but he can be a dangerous red-zone weapon, which is something the Eagles could really use.

If DeSean Jackson isn't franchise-tagged and/or doesn't receive a deal, the Eagles will suddenly be a team in need of a wide receiver. That would likely ramp up the potential interest in a guy like Burress.

Garauntee you, Plax wasn't the cancer in the Jets locker room. A man that just got out of jail and wants to get paid, isn't going to ruffle any feathers.

Plaxico is a joke and better pray anyone will sign him, he isnt fast and is getting old. The only thing dangerous about him is never knowing whats in his pockets!! He is not the caliber player he thinks he is and after having been off as long as he was he shouldve had fresh legs and been a better weapon for the Jets. There is no way a reciever with those numbers is calling his shots, he is lucky to even smell the field in uniform let alone say where he wants to go.

LOL, the_product is mad b/c my statement is legit.  There's something about Eli and company that shows they're going to be a powerhouse for a while.  Just accept the facts.  Your Eagles will not be able to compete against the G-Men, that's for sure.

Report: Plaxico 'badly' wants to play for Eagles

Doesn't matter how bad Plaxico wants to play for Philadelphia, the Giants are the kings of the NFL right now.  With an elite QB, a young team on both sides of the ball, and a head coach who knows how to call the shots, the G-Men are a team to be reckon with for the next five seasons.  Good luck winning, Cowboys, Redskins and Eagles fans ;)

Not to take anything away from the Giants, but re-fcking-lax there guy. For starters, they barely even made the Playoffs to begin with. So to act like they're some dynasty in the making is reaching. Again, I am in no way trying to discredit the defending Champs, but let's be serious. The NFL will again be wide open next season. The NFC East will be another wire-to-wire race, as it always is. So concentrate on winning that first.

Sweet I am glad the Jets can rid itself of this Cancer... They were smart for just signing the Cry Baby to a 1 year deal.

And a year later --- these convict jokes still suck and have about as much wit as a toddler's knock-knock jokes.

How long we going to beat that horse people? Jesus christ, enough already. They were barely funny the first 300 times.

And then they can sign Pac Man. And when is Rae Carruth eligible for parole? And I suppose Andy Reid's kids can be assistant coaches. I guess this would really make Philly the city of brotherly love. Heartwarming!!!
