Moss did a USTREAM chat Monday and said he wants back in the NFL. (USTREAM.com)
By Will Brinson

There's really nothing more surprising in life than finding yourself watching Randy Moss do a live USTREAM chat at 10:00 a.m. on a Monday morning. Except for this: Randy Moss announcing that he wants to return to the NFL while chatting live with fans on USTREAM.

Latest NFL News, Notes

"I wanna play football," Moss said Monday morning. "Your boy is going to come back here and play some football, so I'm really excited. I had some things I had to adjust in my life."

It just so happens that Monday is Moss' birthday, so he gave back to fans by hopping on the Internet and holding a live chat. He seemed genuinely surprised by the fact that 100-plus people were watching around 9:45 a.m. ET, but was straight-up shocked when the number swelled to over 500 by the end of the hour, thanks to various people like our own Mike Freeman sending out links on Twitter.

Moss' live chat was both bizarre and entertaining. At one point, he pulled out a bag filled with all the hair he recently cut off and said it smells like "sauerkraut."

But, again, the most important thing is that Moss said he's coming back to football in 2012. Or, at least, wants to come back to football. There are teams (the Vikings, Raiders and Titans most notably) that can be crossed off the list.

Perhaps the Patriots are too much of a stretch for Moss. But there will be someone interested in taking a flier on Moss, particularly if he's as motivated as he sounded on Monday morning. On his birthday. During a USTREAM chat.

Randy Moss: 'I wanna play football'

Randy Moss, Barry Bonds  and Carlo Zambrano are my 3 most hated people ever to play professional sports. Their teammates don't even like them so what does that tell you ????

Randy Moss: 'I wanna play football'

Maybe the Jets take a chance on him. I'm sure Rex would rather have him on his team, than have to play against him. Considering Plax may not be back next season, that would open up a spot for Moss.

Washington could use him. If Shanny can sort out his QB situation... What does Washington have? Santana Moss, Jabaar Gaffney and Dante Stallworth.. Aging receivers with half the talent of Randy. Pick up Randy, add some guys via the draft, maybe free agency..

Cleveland needs guys for McCoy to throw to. As it stands his top target is Hillis; and that's with Massaquoi and Cribbs on the roster. Colt's been lacking weapons since the Browns drafted him. Randy would be a signifigant boost.

Jacksonville is in dire need of receivers. Esp ones who can stretch the field. Lewis at TE, and Mike Thomas at WR... The fact that MJD had the year he had this year shows that there no production on that list at receiver.

Chicago needs WR's. Nobody really emerged last year for Cutler except Knox and no one knows what kind of condition he'll be in for next year. The Roy Williams experiment was a disappointment. Cutler's got a cannon but needs guys to catch the ball and get deep. Moss can do both of those things.

The 49ers need a quality WR if they're gonna make a run on a yearly basis for the Superbowl. They've got the talent and Harbaugh showed he can take them to the championship game at least. Alex needs WR's. Vernon Davis can't do all the work. Crabtree has been a disappointment. He held out for more money and hasn't lived up to his contract. Ginn is more of a return man.

Rams get back Amendola and Clayton healthy next year. Now whether or not the Rams keep them.. Outside of that, Rosario and Llyod are Bradford's top targets.

Washington, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Chicago and St. Louis are places where Randy Moss will NOT go. None of those teams are contenders.( all right, the Bears were playing well until Jay Cutler went down, but I think Cutler is wildly inconsistent and therefore, so will the Bears be.)

The Jets are full of malcontents and we all know Moss is another headache at times, so if he goes to NY, the Jets will remain disorganized when Sanchez either fails to get the deep ball to Moss or Randy decides they aren't throwing to him enough and starts taking plays off again.

The 49ers are a question mark as well. Has the team really turned the corner or was last year an aberration ? Did Alex Smith just happen to have a career year, or has he finally stepped up to be a pretty good QB ?

As a Patriots fan, I don't want Randy Moss back. True, if we had had him during the Super Bowl, the Pats probably win it. But then again, how do we know that Moss wouldn't have given up on enough plays during the season so that the Pats never reach the Super Bowl ? You can never trust Moss to have his heart in the game at all times. I hope the Patriots pass on him. I think all teams should pass on his services.

Another question is, having taken a year off following his worst season ever, how much game shape is Randy Moss really in ? Even at 35, he would be slower than he was at 27. And many times, when you take a year off, trying to come back and do it all again is extremely difficult.

A Lot Of Pros & Cons On Randy

Based on talent alone, Moss is probably the most gifted WR I have ever seen.  There have been good points made, however, regarding his questionable effort from time to time, but I'll tell you this - In 2007, I don't remeber a single play where the effort wasn't 110%.  He broke Rice's single season touchdown record (albeit in 2 more games than Rice, but still).  His antics bothered me, but I suppose even the Patriots took the good with the bad, and in fact, he behaved rather admirably during that season.  Chad 85 was also tamed by the Patriots.  Winning and a shot at a ring tends to have that kind of influence on a fellow.  On being an all-around football player, Moss was without question not the best... that would be Rice or any number of other guys who simply played and kept their mouths shut.  Does he deserve another shot?  Who knows, but I still enjoy watching the replays of catches that to this day, only he could make.

He is already broke is my guess.  Baby Momma's want their child support checks on time.
