Moss did a USTREAM chat Monday and said he wants back in the NFL. (USTREAM.com)

There's really nothing more surprising in life than finding yourself watching Randy Moss do a live USTREAM chat at 10:00 a.m. on a Monday morning. Except for this: Randy Moss announcing that he wants to return to the NFL while chatting live with fans on USTREAM.

Latest NFL News, Notes

"I wanna play football," Moss said Monday morning. "Your boy is going to come back here and play some football, so I'm really excited. I had some things I had to adjust in my life."

It just so happens that Monday is Moss' birthday, so he gave back to fans by hopping on the Internet and holding a live chat. He seemed genuinely surprised by the fact that 100-plus people were watching around 9:45 a.m. ET, but was straight-up shocked when the number swelled to over 500 by the end of the hour, thanks to various people like our own Mike Freeman sending out links on Twitter.

Moss' live chat was both bizarre and entertaining. At one point, he pulled out a bag filled with all the hair he recently cut off and said it smells like "sauerkraut."

But, again, the most important thing is that Moss said he's coming back to football in 2012. Or, at least, wants to come back to football. There are teams (the Vikings, Raiders and Titans most notably) that can be crossed off the list.

Perhaps the Patriots are too much of a stretch for Moss. But there will be someone interested in taking a flier on Moss, particularly if he's as motivated as he sounded on Monday morning. On his birthday. During a USTREAM chat.

Who cares? TO wants to play too but it isn't happening. No one wants a 37-38yo malcontent over a 23yr old rookie no name. Please stop giving these 2 attention. Randy Owens.

Randy Moss: 'I wanna play football'

So,you wanna play football?  Brady could have used you in the Super Bowl.  Actually the use-to-be non-washed up version.  You want to play football but NOBODY wants you.  Try the Indoor League.

Randy Moss: 'I wanna play football'

Still remember him smoking Revis - yea, the guy so many think is the best cb in football right now - with his one handed TD catch in his last season with the Pats so I have no doubt that if he wants to play he still can physically.  The problem is how do you keep him motivated, how do you stop him from taking plays off?  Nobody has been able to figure that one out lately and it doesn't seem like anyone will.

Randy Moss: 'I wanna play football'

Maybe Indianapolis would be a good fit if the Colts keep Peyton? If the reports of Manning's noodle arm are true, Moss' top gear at 35 would not allow him to outrun Manning's heaves. They'd be in perfect sync.

Let Randy play! Well at least see who wants him on their team. He has the chance to come back and add to his stats and hopefully have a better outlook on life. Randy is a beast when he wants to be. We will see what happens

Same boat as Allen Iverson.  Once elite players, not worth the headache now.  Didn't even try while a member of the Titans.  Time to get a hobby.

Randy Moss: 'I wanna play football'

13 year career season avg ...73rec, 1143yds, 12td, 15.6avg ...not that it matters, but these numbers include his three injury-plagued seasons of '04, '06, & '10 ...wait '10? yes ...in '10 he was injured by the teams that he played for ...1. the patriots who didnt want to extend his contract after he avg 83rec, 1255yds, 16td, 15avg (50td total) over three seasons including one with a back-up qb ...2. brad childress pulled him in as a stunt to save his job ...he was fired that season ...3. jeff fisher pulled him in as a decoy to save his job ...he was fired that season as well ...who can blame randy moss for wanting to retire?
the bottom line here is that randy moss has enough of an advantage in natural physical attributes alone to produce at his current career avg pace until he is probably 40 ...he is 35 ...the 3yr/27m contract from the patriots was a bargain for the numbers he put up ...there is no nfl team that randy moss could not improve ...esp considering he will probably outperform his contract again ...those of you who STILL choose to cite the tired media fed bull about his "team destructive demeanor" will not be dignified with a response ...i dont buy anything other than the fact that this guy is healthy and motivated to win ...and going to the hall of fame at least number two in career touchdowns
