Moss did a USTREAM chat Monday and said he wants back in the NFL. (USTREAM.com)

There's really nothing more surprising in life than finding yourself watching Randy Moss do a live USTREAM chat at 10:00 a.m. on a Monday morning. Except for this: Randy Moss announcing that he wants to return to the NFL while chatting live with fans on USTREAM.

Latest NFL News, Notes

"I wanna play football," Moss said Monday morning. "Your boy is going to come back here and play some football, so I'm really excited. I had some things I had to adjust in my life."

It just so happens that Monday is Moss' birthday, so he gave back to fans by hopping on the Internet and holding a live chat. He seemed genuinely surprised by the fact that 100-plus people were watching around 9:45 a.m. ET, but was straight-up shocked when the number swelled to over 500 by the end of the hour, thanks to various people like our own Mike Freeman sending out links on Twitter.

Moss' live chat was both bizarre and entertaining. At one point, he pulled out a bag filled with all the hair he recently cut off and said it smells like "sauerkraut."

But, again, the most important thing is that Moss said he's coming back to football in 2012. Or, at least, wants to come back to football. There are teams (the Vikings, Raiders and Titans most notably) that can be crossed off the list.

Perhaps the Patriots are too much of a stretch for Moss. But there will be someone interested in taking a flier on Moss, particularly if he's as motivated as he sounded on Monday morning. On his birthday. During a USTREAM chat.

Now there is no way in hell he ends up on the Browns especially with Childress being the new OC.  I do think he gets signed.  My guess is NE, Philly or Dallas.

I'm sure the dude can still play.   When he's got his head on straight and is motivated, he's one of the top 5 recievers in the league.  He's too talented to not get another shot.   The reason teams will take a chance on a guy like him is pretty simple, guys as talented as he is don't come along very often.   I mean we're talking about a guy who could have been a pro basketball player too.  How many other guys in the NFL can say that.

Patriots sure missed that deep threat this year, could've used Randy in the Super Bowl...At this point, I think I'd rather have Moss than Chad Johnson. Hopefully, Moss gets to come back next year, PREFERABLY NOT with the Patriots. Agreed with a guy under me, St. Louis would be a good fit for him.

Might need someone to replace Manningham...

In all seriousness I think Moss will catch on with someone and that someone will probably have to be a contender for next season.  There are plenty of teams that need depth at WR and who better to learn the WR position from then a future HOFer?  I am not saying Moss comes without flaws or baggage but young wideouts can learn their trade from one of the best.

St. Louis would be an IDEAL location for him.  :)

Moss shouldn't be compared to TO or 85.  Moss isn't nearly as disruptive an influence as either, and is likely to have more left in the tank than either.  The Patriots would be stupid, or at least negligent, not to at least give him a tryout.  One great thing about football is that if you have talent, it will show.  If you don't, that will show, too.

The Patriots need someone who can go deep.  If Moss has anything left, he will be a great fit.  If he doesn't, there are plenty of other ways for the Patriots to find someone else.  Either way, their "window" is beginning to close slightly.  They need to either give Tom Brady the surrounding cast he needs to win another Super Bowl or trade him and start over.

This guy is another classic head case.  Totally full of himself, no clue of the disruption he causes, takes plays off, really only tries when he feels like it.  Do really think Bellichick would have dumped this clown if he had anything left in the tank?!!  And now HE wants to play again......  Good luck with that!

I hear that T.O. is forming a support group for misunderstood ex-players with Tiki Barber....maybe Randy can play with them.

Unlike T.O. and his mouth. Randy and his half ass work ethic will probably still land an NFL job. The difference? TO is a team cancer ....Moss? He is just a cancer to himself.

The Ravens should pick him up. At least give him a try. They need more targets.

Arena league is always looking for washed up old receivers...  Ask T.O.
