Once upon a time, Cris Carter and Randy Moss were teammates with the Minnesota Vikings. As such, when news arises about Moss, ESPN trots out Cris Carter to make some comments. And over the past couple of days, Carter's managed to make Moss, who recently announced his return to football, something that doesn't resemble happy.

Carter initially said that Moss could hop out of bed and run a 4.3 40-yard dash. But then he added later that Moss has a lot of "quit" in him.

“The one thing you have to address with Randy Moss is not a conditioning thing," Carter said. "It's not an age thing. It needs to be addressed. I believe it's the elephant in the room. It's that thing called quit.

“And Randy, not like any other superstar I've met, he has more quit in him than any of those other players. So I need to addresses that. That's what (New England Patriots coach Bill) Belichick did when he brought him over from Oakland. He told him he wasn't going to have it."

Latest NFL News, Notes

Moss had taken criticism from Carter pretty well, not mentioning it on one of his many USTREAM sessions. He's also been surprisingly contrite since announcing his return. But then he took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon and fired some shots back at his former teammate.

"@criscarter80 its sad how u stroked ur own ego when u were suppose to b my mentor!then u wonder why karma bites u in the ass! #goodlukwithhof," Moss tweeted.

Quick translation: we're not boys anymore. I mean, it's one thing to fire back at Carter for something he did during his career, but ripping Carter for not making the Hall of Fame when one of the arguments against Carter is that Moss overshadowed him in Minnesota is kind of tough.

That being said, Carter stood up on his analyst pedestal and took some shots at a guy who's supposed to be his boy. He shouldn't be surprised if said guy, who doesn't usually operate with a filter in place, fires right back.

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

To those who are name-calling, I ask what are you doing to help a child? Do you have a foundation to help kids in need? What are you doing to help ANYONE in need? Do you take time and money to make a kid's dream come true of going to a game or even buy a backpack for a needy school kid? Moss' antics are just that. He makes his bed and lyes in it. Name-calling is very immature and not productive. Just as this will fall on deaf ears, because many will still name-call in the future after reading this...

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

"worthless loser"? Do you know the guy? I don't think calling a person worthless is ever justifiable. Even professional athletes are real people.

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

U know what's funny, how cowardly jack asses jump online & bring up racial topics that they would NEVER discuss in public. For example, this guy says that he's tired of the arrogance of the " black " athlete.then he went on to mention how growing up in the hood, housing projects, ect somehow relates to their attitude. But I NEVER see any1 criticize the " pampered " white athlete. White athletes were NEVER told that they weren't smart enough 2 play point guard, quarterback, pitcher, ect. The black athlete had 2 endure that type of criticism. 4 decades iv watched guys like Eli Manning & Carson Palmer hold franchises hostage & demand where they will or wont play. So now whenever I hear comments such as the one by our diplomatic buddy here, I can't do much but laugh. Alright now, let's break some of his comments down. ( although I feel kinda petty following up this type of ignorance ) But if growing up in a certain place creates arrogance, what wld u contribute 2 the guys I mentioned earlier attitudes towards thief respected franchises? So y not blog about how Carsons or Eli's up bringing caused them 2 be selfish towards their teams? Y didn't I hear or see one interview ( or blog ) about how spoiled, pampered & ARROGANT they were 2 make such demands. Eli hadn't thrown a pass 4 the chargers & Palmer stunk it up his last couple years b4 he was rewarded by giving up on his team & went 2 sit on his couch. My point is, that IGNORANCE, 4get arrogance, has NO place in sports. If so, then @ least blog about the arrogance of the athlete as a whole.. If u ever participated in sports, then u'd know that arrogance is mainly based off of confidence anyway.. & Michael, Kobe, Bird, Brady, P. Manning, hell even Jeremy Lee is drippinng w/ confidence/arrogance. ( where would sports be w/o them ) So please think b4 u type buddy, because arrogance had absolutely nothing 2 do w/ that... That was all PERSONAL, so find another way 2 get in your racist rants. Because this one wasn't warranted

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

The only coach and team that really would benefit from Moss would be the Jets.

They really do not care about image and  think Randy would love playing for Rex. He could bail out Sanchez on a lot of plays and might be the right fit.  Now if Peyton Manning signs with the Jets, I think it evenmakes more sense.  Peyton would corral Randy much like Brady did.

The only reason Favre and Moss did not make a fit in MN during Randy's 2nd time in Minny, was that Randy did not like he fact that #4 was the center of everything.

I think it would be fun to watch Randy in green and in NY.

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

Please I hope no NFL team picks up this worthless loser Moss. As for him being a future Hall of Famer, I say no unless they want to lower the standards for that entity. He has done nothing in his NFL career to warrant his being in the HOF, Chris Carter maybe yes but Moss definitely no.

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

Here are a few thoughts on this......

Cris Carter and Randy Moss are for sure hall of famers. That is a fact, not an opinion. Cris Carter, before Terrell Owens entered the league, was the second best receiver of all time after Jerry Rice. It is arguable that Randy Moss is better than Cris Carter, but not really a fact and is all opinion based.

Randy Moss quits on plays. This is an opinion. You never heard him say it or actually do it. You are watching tape, and although it appears obvious to you (and me) it is not a fact. You don't know that he was quiting on plays any more than Cris Carter's dumb self knows. Until he comes out and says it himself or he just sits down on the field after the ball is snapped, it is not a fact. Stop ARGUING LIKE IT IS!!!!!!

Cris Carter is an idiot. This is my opinion, but just like Randy Moss quiting on plays, it's obvious. How stupid can he be to think that just because he played with Randy Moss for a couple of seasons, he must know everything in Moss's head. Truth is, he knows nothing about Moss. He has been out of the league for a long time, and is as far away from Moss as you or I. Last time I checked, he was sitting at a desk when moss was playing for N.E.

Cris Carter is more of a quiter than Moss. This is a ESPN (I really hate ESPN) cold hard fact! He not only was a drunk, but also had a drug problem. This is well documented, Buddy Ryan saving his ass and everything. He quit on the Eagles. This is a fact! Randy Moss hasn't done anything like that, not even close. The best Carter has on Moss is him running slow on some plays, which pisses me off, but doesn't prove Moss has a lot of quit in him. What is proven is Carter's drug problems and how that affected the Philadelphia Eagles!

So, in summary, Cris Carter has or had drug problems and is pretty much a douche bag. It is very funny that someone who had a drug problem would cast stones and call anyone a quitter. Sure Carter got better, or at least we think so, but as far as I'm concerned he can go to hell calling someone else a quitter with his past. Clean up your own house buddy!

So, are you saying that it's his skin color that gives him a tendency toward arrogance?

Randy Moss rips Cris Carter for 'quit' comments

notwhatyouthink- Your the one bringing up race here, Randy Moss has been a handful his whole life, remember him in college, or should I say colleges; Notre Dame, FSU, then Marshal. He's talented and he's difficult to deal has nothing to do with the color of his skin. That is a problem you have, not black athletes.
