In discussing a reported "doubling" of Roger Goodell's salary on Monday, we made mention of Falcons receiver Roddy White's response to the news on Twitter: he wasn't too thrilled about Goodell getting a raise.

Or, more specifically, he thought Goodell was overpaid. (Consider yourself [sic]'d until further notice.)

"How in the hell can u pay a man this much money that cant run tackle or catch," White tweeted when hearing the news of Goodell's salary bump. "Roger Goodell is getting over never seen anything like it 20 million for looking over the league with tremendous help I guess the NFL is banking. The NFL is not a company it's a nonprofit organization that makes a lot of profit.

"Ok i am done."

But White wasn't done because, as often happens on Twitter, people responded to him. Someone said that Goodell's "job allows [White] to make money." White took umbrage with that.

"Thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard the players make this league dont ever forget that," White tweeted in response. "My god given talents feed me not him."

Goodell might not pay White's salary, but he is in charge of making the NFL increase its revenue stream, which does put money in White's pocket, albeit in an indirect way. And besides, if you'll recall our post on Goodell's salary bump, we actually quoted the guy who does pay White's salary: Falcons owner Arthur Blank.

Blank heads up the NFL's Compensation Committee and, thusly, is the guy who ultimately pays both Goodell and White. So perhaps Roddy should just have a chat with his bossman about Goodell's salary instead of broadcasting his business beliefs on Twitter.

Roddy White thinks Roger Goodell is overpaid

A guy getting paid millions of dollars to catch the ball 5 or 6 times a game is complaining about someone else being overpaid? ok
The only thing crazier would be owners complaining about how much players make, especially when you consider that they signed the contracts, not that is the epitome of stupidty and hypocrisy.

Listen up peanuit gallery, rather than focusing on whether or not White has a right to complain (you can always tell who hates the Constitution), why not look at the substance of what he says.  He is, of course 100% corrrect.  Paying a talking head who has done more to harm than help the league 20 million is absurd and a poor investment.  Anyone who likes accountability and sensible economics agrees.

Roddy White thinks Roger Goodell is overpaid

Can you beleave a man who plays a kids game saying SOMEONE ELSE is over paid!!!!!!
Absolutely, especially if the guy he is complaining about is the one in charge of the "kids game."  So many stupid posters, so little time.  And unless you are a 12 year old girl texting about FRiday's dance, don't use more than one excalamntion point.  Any maybe turn on spell check.  I'm betting that you are overpaid no matter what you do.

Roddy White thinks Roger Goodell is overpaid

I am a huge football fan, but lets put it in perspective.  Roddy White catches a ball for a living and is running his mouth about others making too much money for what they do.  He makes more than doctors and teachers, people who are truly important, not to mention fireman, police, and military personnel who actually risk their lives.  White made $4 million in 2011 and for that he should be thanking the NFL and Goodell and stop being an ignorant punk.
And to put into into evven better perspective, Goodell, who does much less than Roddy White, makes 5 times what White makes.  If it is sickening or obscene for White to make 4 million, it is beyond comprehension that a talentless owner puppet gets 20 million for literally doing nothing.  Wake up son.  As far as who should make more, maybe have someone explain the consept of demand to you.  Hint: commissioners are not in demand.  Ignorant punk indeed...

roddy white----makes millions, made few plays in any big game---more bad contracts by the morons who run the falcons.
and still without a doubt deserves more money than the worst commissioner in the history of organized sports.

roddy is an example of why stupid poeple shouldnt have twitter accounts.   what an ignorant idiot.
Except in this case, as all knowledgable footballs know, he is 100%.  I can see where ice skating fans might agree with the commissioner (who never played the game), but no way would football fans agree.

Roddy White thinks Roger Goodell is overpaid

Hey Roddy, haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate.  Don't hate the playa, hate the game.  Don't hate, appreciate.  Mr Goodell has played a huge role for you to get yours.  The National Football League can find wide receivers who would be more productive and willing to make less money than the future hall of shfamer R.  White.  How about you fix that 5 catches 52 yards stat line or better, why don't you win a playoff game before you run your mouth?  If your salary was tied to your production, you would be grossly overpaid at $20,000 per year.

Typical Falcon protocol, talk a lot, do nothing to back up the flappy jaw.  Focus on winning a playoff game instead of how much your commissioner makes.  What a piece of work.  Haters gonna hate.
What planet are you from?  Goodell has actually hurt the game and has probably decreased total earnings for everyone from where they should be.  There are haters hating sure, but it is you sparky, not Roddy White.   It always cracks me up when newcomers to football offer theor "opinion."

Roddy White thinks Roger Goodell is overpaid

I still think it's bordering on ridiculous that the commissioner makes more than any player.

Roddy White thinks Roger Goodell is overpaid

"who will be broke first five years after they retire? "  BINGO. I read an article in Sports Illustrated a couple years ago and I believe the statistic was about 40% of professional athletes lose all their earnings within 5 years of retiring (bad investments, giving to friends and family, etc etc)

Roddy White on the other hand...... you know, the guy the article is about:

This isn't a Terrell Owens thread.
