The Heat are wasting no time in filling out the active roster. Late Thursday night (or early Friday morning, depending on your location) news broke from Mike Miller's dad that the Heat were intending to sign Mike Miller .

Miller is from South Dakota, so I guess that's where we send his Luckiest Basketball Player in the World Award.

After shipping Michael Beasley to Minnesota for basically nothing, the Heat had a little cap room to play with. And Pat Riley and Miami wasted no time whipping out the checkbook. According to the report, Miller will sign a five-year, $30 million deal.

Miller also had offers from New York and the Clippers, with the Clipper offer being worth a significant amount more, the report said. Also, mentioned, Miller won out over Kyle Korver and Rasual Butler, mainly because of an endorsement from LeBron.

But Miller is just the beginning for the Heat. Since they moved Beasley, but now added Miller, the Heat have five players on the active roster, sans Joel Anthony who has a qualifying offer of about $1 million. Miller's $6 million a year will eat up virtually all of Miami's remaining cap space. That means a bevy of veteran minimum salaries are about to be handed out and as Ira Winderman mentioned in his story, the list isn't that long or that sexy.

Among the names available still: Raja Bell , Larry Hughes , Flip Murray, Zydrunas Ilgauskas , Devean George , Brian Skinner , Damien Wilkins, Trenton Hassell , Jarvis Hayes, Jason Williams, Keyon Dooling , Eddie House , Etan Thomas and Ime Udoka.

Of course Miami still has its three second-round picks it could sign (Dexter Pittman, Jarvis Varnado, Da'Sean Butler) and as Winderman says, could re-sign some lesser Heat players from a year ago (Shavlik Randolph, Kenny Hasbrouck). Finally, there are still undrafted players to be had, like Jon Scheyer and Brian Zoubek of Duke, Art Parakhouski from Radford, Denis Clemente (a native of Miami) from Kansas State, Scottie Reynolds from Villanova and Matt Bouldin from Gonzaga, among others.

Great to be the #1 poster on the Heat boards. No one can call me bandwagon lol. Basically, anyone who says they will not win the title next year is an idiot.

People were saying if they have LBJ, Bosh, and Wade that they can get no one else. What does Riley do? Go out and smack all you haters in the face by spending MORE money and getting a great role player in Mike Miller.

WHen are you people going to learn not to doubt the greatest basketball mind, Pat Riley.

Let the scrub fest begin for Miami! It takes alot more than 3 guys to win multiple championships and I'll bet my life on it after they get knocked out next year one of these d bags is traded for a bunch of players!

Seems like blowing such a big chunk of the remaining cap space on Mike Miller (Whose signing I do actually like.) is a bad idea, as while we are getting a good shooter off the bench, providing he regains his form, it leaves very little with which to do anything. If Shaq is willing to sign for a minimum then he'd be a great bargain for sure, but I don't know who else will be available now. Eddie House is a guy I would really like for us but let's just see what happens now.

Hey basketball geniusses:

Any of you have brains that you actually use?  Do you guys think?

Lebron did not set up "the decision", espn did.  Anyone looked at the ratings?  It was almost as many viewers as the superbowl.  Nothing to do with ego dumbasses.  All about winning.  Now everyone hates him for wanting to win?  (Which he would never accomplish in Cleveland, be real about that.)

All three stars are taking a ton less cash to win championships and build the dynasty that Riles was talking about.  What idiot actually truly believes that the heat won't win any rings?  So, obviously it was not about the money, can anyone respect that?  How long did you actually think he was going to stay in Cleveland with a supporting cast of scrubs?  Anyone blaming Diesel for bouncing around?  Did you listen to the history lesson Lebron gave the world about what it takes to win a championship?  "More than one or two superstars are needed, again, which Cleveland could never bring to town.

Closed minded, ignorant fools.  haters without knowing why.

I've been a Heat fan from the day they were concieved, (unlike most people who flip flop when their teams do bad).  Through thick and thin.  I bleed red with black trim!

I am about to reap my reward for being a loyal fan, and you cannot blame the players for wanting to win!

Miami Heat all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, I hope you are right and that happens.  Then they will be known as the most conglomerated talent for an NBA Franchise in the history of the game...and wont make it to the conference finals.
