Report: Mike Miller to sign with Miami

The Heat are wasting no time in filling out the active roster. Late Thursday night (or early Friday morning, depending on your location) news broke from Mike Miller's dad that the Heat were intending to sign Mike Miller .

Miller is from South Dakota, so I guess that's where we send his Luckiest Basketball Player in the World Award.

After shipping Michael Beasley to Minnesota for basically nothing, the Heat had a little cap room to play with. And Pat Riley and Miami wasted no time whipping out the checkbook. According to the report, Miller will sign a five-year, $30 million deal.

Miller also had offers from New York and the Clippers, with the Clipper offer being worth a significant amount more, the report said. Also, mentioned, Miller won out over Kyle Korver and Rasual Butler, mainly because of an endorsement from LeBron.

But Miller is just the beginning for the Heat. Since they moved Beasley, but now added Miller, the Heat have five players on the active roster, sans Joel Anthony who has a qualifying offer of about $1 million. Miller's $6 million a year will eat up virtually all of Miami's remaining cap space. That means a bevy of veteran minimum salaries are about to be handed out and as Ira Winderman mentioned in his story, the list isn't that long or that sexy.

Among the names available still: Raja Bell , Larry Hughes , Flip Murray, Zydrunas Ilgauskas , Devean George , Brian Skinner , Damien Wilkins, Trenton Hassell , Jarvis Hayes, Jason Williams, Keyon Dooling , Eddie House , Etan Thomas and Ime Udoka.

Of course Miami still has its three second-round picks it could sign (Dexter Pittman, Jarvis Varnado, Da'Sean Butler) and as Winderman says, could re-sign some lesser Heat players from a year ago (Shavlik Randolph, Kenny Hasbrouck). Finally, there are still undrafted players to be had, like Jon Scheyer and Brian Zoubek of Duke, Art Parakhouski from Radford, Denis Clemente (a native of Miami) from Kansas State, Scottie Reynolds from Villanova and Matt Bouldin from Gonzaga, among others.

Wow....you over-sensitive dolt!  All the hate has NOTHING to do with Miami.  It's about class, loyalty, and egos.
How can anyone not like Dwayne Wade?  Love him.  Bosh is excellent.  No complaints.  But now poison has been added to the mix.
As loyal as you say you are, you should understand something about it.  Seems you don't.  Nobody hates Miami, it's LeBoy they hate.

We yet to see if the Miami Heat can put up a decent back up for a powerful starting line up. I Can see that they will end up getting all the starters 40+ minutes through out the regular season just to avoid the ridicule they will get if they don't finish as champions.

Why would Jordan have left a championship team? I am assuming your talking about when he was a FA? That's the difference! Lebron was in Cleveland. Kobe most def entertained the thought of leaving don't you remember? Gerry Buss told him that they would build a championship team and went out and got Gasol, Artest, brought back Fisher. I'll agree that the "Decision" was more Queen then King, but as far as him choosing Miami that's what contracts and FA is for! It's his life he can work where he wants. If you had to choose between working in Miami or Cleveland where would you go?

HEAT will NEVER win NBA Championship.  The Cleveland curse has moved to Miami!!  Heat will be 2nd round losers for at least 3 years and will not make it to the EASTERN finals until one of the three are gone

Now is the time when we will see just how good Pat Riley is at assembling a TEAM.  He has 3 superstars and a couple of dudes on the roster...AND THAT IS IT.  The cupboard is bare.  Riles better hope that he drafted the right guys in the second round or that he can get quality veterans to fill out his roster.  You cannot win an NBA title without some kind of depth/production from your bench.

On to the next point...Sorry Cleveland.  Your city has bad sports luck.  Gilbert has a lot of work to do if he is going to deliver a championship to Cleveland before LBJ, D-Wade and CB4 deliver one in Miami.  I genuinely feel bad for Cavs fans, not because LBJ left to Miami, but because of the way he did it.  Very low class.  I know that I will not be rooting for LBJ anymore, mostly because I am an Orlando fan, but also because of all of the LeBron-a-palooza nonsense the past week.  Very self-centered and egocentric.

Only time will tell if LBJ made the right call on Miami or not.  Many people were skeptical when KG and Ray Allen teamed up with Paul Pierce in Beantown, but it worked out OK for them.  If they don't win a title in Miami during LBJ's time then its a FAILURE.  If they don't make it to an Eastern Conference Finals then its an EPIC FAILURE.

I am hoping for EPIC FAILURES...

Took less money than they could have gotten elsewhere??  I believe they all signed max deals.  That is why it leaves NOTHING after Miller for them to sign.  Did you read the names on that list??  We all know Eddie coattails House will sign.  I love Miami, the city, The Phins, The U, the Marlins, BUT I HATE PAT RILEY and the HEAT.  Call me a hater if you want to, but know this:  In the 4th quarter with the game on the line, we all now know LeBron will pass the ball.  He is no Kobe and he is no Jordan.  He sand bagged the Celtics series (obvious).  Jordan would have relished the challenge of some team thinking they were better than him (anyone remember the Magic of 1996....the supposed challengers to Jordan....exactly); LeBron didn't have to stay in Cleveland.  Chicago or New York would have been a fine place to take on "flop" Wade and wannabe Bosh.  The reason why he didn't win in Cleveland is plain and simple now that we saw this:  He isn't good enough.  He'll fill the stat line, but when it is winning time...he chokes.  AND HE WILL IN MIAMI too, luckily, the NBA will fix it for him and probably call a foul on the guy who was guarding Wade when LeBron misses his shot and will fix it so the Heat wins.  As a fan, congrats.  It is no fault of yours he signed.  Enjoy the titles (should they happen), but LeBron is a COWARD.

Phooey...who cares about Miller?
The King is the King!  Well, the new King of most hated NBA players, anyway.
Move over Kobe, Rodman, Ainge, Reggie, and Laimbeer.  There's a new King in town.
