At a workout on Independence Day, first round draft pick Ekpe Udoh of the Warriors hurt his wrist. No big deal, happens when you play organized basketball at any level.

Unfortunately, it turns out Udoh has become the token rookie that has his rookie season spoiled by injury. Monday night, the Warriors announced Udoh would have surgery to repair a torn ligament in his wrist and will miss 4-6 months.

It's a crushing blow for the rookie and the team, who need depth at forward. But more importantly, it's the yearly reminder of how much hope and excitement is throwin in the dumpster every year as a rookie season gets tossed. Missing that much time can be crushing for your development as a player and as a teammate. Udoh will miss out on much of the things you need as a rookie, and as a player coming in raw already, this is the kind of thing that can severely limit his development. Hopefully the kid can bounce back.

Tough break, Golden State.

Hey Lumpoco,
you will eat your words about Greg Oden, come this upcoming season.  Oden was averaging nearly 10 and 10 with 2 bpg when he went down, and that was 19 minutes per game.  He is 100% and will play a minimum of 75 games this year.  He will be a top 5 center by season's end.  Biatch

Greg Oden is only 22 years old just to let you know.  If he ever can stay on the court without getting injured you will be eating your words.  Not even a fan of the guy but he has much more potential than Ekpe Udoh so before you right someone off atleast know their actual age.  So much for "superstar" huh lumpoco.  Oden's situation has nothing to do with the Warriors current situation and instead of wishing guys a career full of injuries show some class maybe some remorse??

Well, the Warriors might be cursed with rookie injuries, but at least they did not draft that 25 year old Greg Oden who gets hurt in freak accidents. Getting hurt playing basketball is to be expected. Oden gets hurt just getting out of bed. The guy is made of glass. So much for the "Man-Child".

Same Thing Year after Year - If Golden State does not secure the services of a very good franchise player in the low post -
the likes a Gasol, Garnett, Duncan, etc - they are going to remain a so-so team, lucky to make the 8th slot in the Western
Playoffs only to lose in the first round.  They use to have such a player in Clifford Ray back in 1975 and somehow managed
to WIN the NBA Title that year.  They have one of the WORST road records I've ever seen and spent way too much time
taking (and not hitting) 3's.  What I'm trying to say is... NELSON has to go!!!

Warriors are Cursed

First it was Brandon Wright who was injured in 2009 and hasn't played in over a year.  Now there No. 1 draft pick this year Udoh suffers a freak wrist injury that likely will sideline him for the year.  It would be easy to blame the Golden State management, but they have actually made some goo picks in the last few years but lost Baron Davis in free agency and eventually were forced to trade Stephen Jackosn.  This may be Nellie's last year on the bench and you can't blame him with the Warriors bad luck in recent years.
