Report: Luke Ridnour to Minnesota. Seriously.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are close to signing point guard Luke Ridnour, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! reports . Terms are reported at $16 million over four years.

So let's take roll here. Jonny Flynn, point guard. Ramon Sessions, point guard. Ricky Rubio, point guard. Luke Ridnour, point guard. As Eric Freeman of The Sporting Blog put it , "This joke isn't funny anymore."

However, there's a somewhat reasonable explanation for the deal. A Wojnarowski mentioned in his original report, the Wolves are looking to sign Ridnour to the exact same deal as Sessions and then move Sessions to a team able to absorb his contract. Basically, this is a trade of Ridnour for Sessions. Not terrible.

But you know what would've made more sense? Not signing Sessions in the first place. Heck, not drafting Jonny Flynn and ticking off Ricky Rubio would have probably made the most sense. But we're talking about KAAAHHHN here. What makes the most sense isn't necessarily what is actually done. I keep telling myself that here any minute it's all going to click and make complete sense for everyone. Surely Kahn has a brilliant masterplan, and we just haven't figured it out. It's not incompetence, right? RIGHT?

With the deal sending Al Jefferson to Utah reportedly finished, the Wolves are going to be about $13 million under the cap, which is definitely good. Plus, they're stockpiling a number of quality assets and picks.

But in order to turn all that into actual on-court success, you've got to make the right moves once you have it. And how confident can Wolves fans be that their management will do that? Going by recent history, I'm saying that would fall in the "not confident" category.

Tribe91..that was excellent...Kahn vs. McFail? Seriously....Look at ALL the damage that Kahn has to undo! Give the guy A+ for trying....Beasly, Wesley Johnson, Love, Flynn, Rubio, Milicic, Pekovic, plus Trade exemption and numerous 1st round picks are NOT BAD!. Reporters like this one need to do their homework....SERIOUSLY!

WOW.

How "stupid" to upgrade at backup PG for the same deal that is in place for Sessions. AND get something in return for Sessions in the trade. I'm shocked and appalled at how ig'nant those TWolves look. Aren't you?

With Flynn and Ridenour in place, it now becomes irrelevant if Rubio ever plans to play in MN. Rubio plays? Now I've got a sweet trading chip in Flynn. Rubio balks? Now I've got a sweet trading chip in Rubio. Both young, inexpensive and at a super valuable position. Let's see...stockpiling at PG. How dumb.

Thank you for sorting it all out for me. I'm going to sit here and try and figure out your point for a while -- you know the one where Wolves fans should be "not confident" in management when mapped against the absolute tragedy in Minneapolis over the past decade?

Epic fail. The future is brighter in Minneapolis today than it has been in over a decade, and the approach being employed finally fits that market and the status of the current roster better than any prior approach the Wolves have seen, possibly in franchise history.

A roster filled with high upside, young talent. Roster cap space. First round picks. Stable, hungry coaching. Reasonable fan expectations. All players 25 and under, and generally willing/wanting to play in MN...

...THAT is a HUGE improvement for the Timberwolves...finally.

Not really sure what the criticism is here.  The Wolves had 2 PGs on their roster last year.  Flynn started.  Sesions arguably has more value in the eyes of some other teams out there than he proved to have on the Wolves last year.  So we seem to be gearing up to ship him out. But we need a back up PG.

Are you dumbsh!ts arguing that it's somehow odd to have a backup PG?

Get a job.

Just when you think that nobody can top the Knicks in mishandling PG talent, you read this. Is Skiles going to come off the bench himself? I watched Milwaukee plenty and do not remember another backup, and such a capable one at that.

I Hope The Wolves...

...Trade Jonny Flynn.  He is a great young talent, and they might completly ruin him.  Adding Ridnour and trading Flynn would be great for Flynn and the rest of the basketball world who gawk at how horrible a GM Kahn is.

This may be a prelude to trading Flynn away at some point soon.
