The Orlando Sentinel brings us some interesting news about a new possible Heat addition. Penny Hardaway, yes that Penny Hardaway , announced he's interested in trying out for a spot with the Miami Heat.

On an internet radio show called The Bottom Line Sports Show , Hardaway said this: "Mentally I was retired and physically I was retired. I was playing recreational ball,' Hardaway said. "But when the decision happened with Chris Bosh and LeBron, I felt like I could really be good in that system."

Hardaway last played in 2007, coincidentally with the Heat. He'll turn 39 July 18 (hey, Shaq is 38), which isn't ridiculously old, but he did battle a handful of knee injuries which is what eventually led to his retirement. However, he says he's in great shape.

"I can understand where Michael Jordan was coming from coming out of retirement a couple times, I can understand where Brett Favre is right now," Hardaway said on the show. "When you still have something in the tank it's really hard to let it go."

Hardaway said he sent text messages to Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and his former teammate Alonzo Mourning to express interest in trying for a non guaranteed, one-year minimal role shortly after The Decision aired.

Honestly, why not? The Heat still need to fill out a couple spots, Hardaway wouldn't require much money at all and all he needs to be is a warm body at practice and sit on the end of the bench. And who knows, maybe he can still play a little.

I for one will forgive the hostile takeover of the NBA if the Heat sign Marino and let him win a ring of some sort. Let him dress, drink coffee, and listen to Hootie and the Blowfish on his ipod on the bench the whole season and let him win a ring..an NBA ring lol!

What's wrong with wanting a ring? There are a couple hundred guys in the league who just want cash. I hope he makes it.

For a player who has never one the big one having LeBron,D-Wade and Bosh joining up on one team is like waving a vial of crack in front of Lawrence Taylor! He's going to jump on that so fast you might think he's a rookie again! Not a chance in hell would this happen but you have to se that Penny had to throw it out there!

Umm, I thought he had died from a drug overdose. I guess not. It was only his career that died. That guy had the makings of a great career. He was a power point guard/shooting guard at 6 foot 7 inches tall and he failed to make an impact in the NBA. Wow! Knee injuries got the best of him. Oh wait...was I referring to Grant Hill? Lol...same difference. He should make a comeback with the Magic. He owes them that much. Maybe he should make a comeback with the Warriors since they did draft him before trading him for Chris "Timeout" Webber.

If Brett Favre actually retires ... why not offer him a contract to sit on the Miami bench and fill out the roster?  He gets to pay some bills, and it wouldn't require painkillers to make it through each game.  No fear of getting sacked or a concussion while you're riding the pine in the NBA.
