CP3 to Charlotte?

Former Hornets general manager Jeff Bower lost his job because his shopping of Chris Paul reportedly caused some strain with ownership. But as Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer writes , Paul is "open" to a trade and Bonnell sees Charlotte as a prime destination.

Besides citing the fact that Charlotte is near home for Paul who grew up in nearby Winston-Salem, Bonnell sees it as doable because of the Bobcats ability to offer both financial relief in Erick Dampier's unguaranteed $13 million salary, along with actual talent in Gerald Wallace, Gerald Henderson and D.J. Augustin.

If Paul sours on the Hornets and wants out, Charlotte definitely appears like it could be a prime destination. There's the Michael Jordan connection (CP3 is on the Jordan Brand and grew up in North Carolina), it's close to home and the Bobcats can reconcile the trade by giving the Hornets assets and cap relief.

New Orleans appears to be a mess right now with Bower recently being fired, team president Hugh Weber rescinding a contract to Luther Head for apparently no reason and oh yeah, the roster isn't very good either. So picturing CP3 demanding a way out isn't that hard to do. Owner George Shinn absolutely loves Paul and would probably fight to keep him, but with Shinn selling the team to Gary Chouest, things could change there. It's obviously all wild speculation at this point, but it certainly could become reality.

Hornets new head coach Monty Williams is planning to meet with Paul in the near future to discuss his status with the team. I'm thinking Williams will say something like, "Please don't ever leave me."

CP3 to Charlotte?

CP3 should reunite with Coach Scott in Cleveland, haha.
Why not?  Scott has always made the most of teams with a good PG and little else.  If the Cavs could get him, it would instantly bring them back to relevance in the East.
'Course, I doubt it'll happen, but you never know...

I agree.  Jordan was the best player and anyone would love to play alongside him.  However, his team-building experience speaks for itself from the mess he made in Washington.  It doesnt matter if Chris Paul signs with the Bobcats in regards to Brand Jordan.  He got the contract playing for New Orleans and will keep it if he moves.  Paul needs to move somewhere with cap space and surrounding talent, say NYK?  If he went to NY, a lot of other free agents in the next couple years would find NY a more appealing place.  Let's face it; Amare will not be the player in NY that he was the last couple seasons in Pheonix. He needs a playmaker and the Knicks do not have it.  Paul should be all about going to NY.  Orlando would also be a prime spot for Paul; good wing play and a dominant big man is where he will thrive.  Just a thought, but as a native of NC, I do not think Winston-Salem will bring him home to play with mediocre team in the Bobcats.

CP3 to Charlotte?

Ummm yahh It would be great for CP3 to join forces with Jordan..... If jordan was still playing in his prime LOL. Otherwise it makes NO sense for Paul to demand a trade to the Bobcats. Their entire Talent pool, which is mainly just Gerald Wallace, would have to go along with Dampiers contract en-order for the trade to happen. CP3 wants a championship team and the Bobcats are definitely not that. I think after a Trade for Paul their lineup would look something like CP3, Hughes, Jackson, TT and Nazr which really leaves Paul worse off than he was with the Hornets.

CP3 to Charlotte?

Why would he go there? There's no long-term success there
why you ask, well, unlike New Orleans, Charlotte is closer to where he lives.

CP3 to Charlotte?

I think this would make sense for both teams if he wants out. Hornets get a starting SF who is good, a backup PG, money off the books, and Collison is the starter, and they can build and try and get depth, or a real good big man.... they will have a lot of money under the cap.  I've always liked Wallace, so I can hope if there is a trade in the works this is the trade.

CP3 to Charlotte?

Are you serious???  No long term success???  He will be close to home.  He will have the greatest player ever as a teacher/owner.  I think that alone says it all.  They just need to get rid of their stupid BET owner!  Once he is gone, and Charlotte gets away from its wine and cheese crowd status they could win a championship in the next 5-7 years.  I said it!

CP3 to Charlotte?

Are you kidding me, it would be a great move for C.P to join forces with Jordan. I'm not sure if you realize this but Jordan is a global brand. To this day, Jordan is still a winner and he is not even playing. If I was Paul I would love to be associated with Jordan. He would be joining forces with an eternal winner.
