David Lee injured at Team USA practice

Team USA might as well swap out Coach K for Don Nelson. Because small ball is pretty much guaranteed at this point.

David Lee, fresh off his huge new contract with Golden State, was injured in Team USA practice Tuesday, Chris Tomasson of FanHouse reported . Lee injured his finger attempting to block a shot and jammed his finger against the backboard.  Lee told Chris Sheridan that he was returning to Oakland immediately for medical evaluation and that "It's possibly a tendon or a dislocation of some sort."

The news is bad all around. Team USA loses another big after losing Al Jefferson, Amar'e Stoudemire, Robin Lopez, and LaMarus Aldridge in the past week. At this rate, Tyreke Evans will be starting at center by Sunday. Which is okay, since he's probably still better than anyone else at that position anyway. (Not really.)

For the Warriors, the news could be much worse. The finger will likely heal by training camp and it not being on his shooting hand makes a huge difference. It's not great considering the money and assets they surrendered for him, but in the grand context of Warrior disaster, this could have been considerably worse.

We'll keep you posted on Lee's replacement for Team USA and his diagnosis, which should be available Wednesday.

Forget the "World Games" & Olympics

The World Games do not feature the world's best basketball players and neither do the Olympics. The best basketball players in the world are in the NBA, and I think we all know that. An NBA Championship means a LOT MORE than winning the World Games or the Olympics.

Why are we still sending pro players to these things? It's a waste. It's more of a courtesy to the other nations than anything else. IF all the best American pros actually competed in these events the USA would be victorious more times than not. But they'd still rather have an NBA ring than an Olympic gold medal.

Tell me I'm not right...

Once again, a player gets hurt in this series. The timing of the games is horrible for NBA players. Not only does it cut into the rest time before the longest season in all pro sports begins, it also does not allow for players to heal from injuries incurred during the games. Soon, the team will not imply to their players to avoid this Worthless exhibition series, it will say so in their contracts. Hopefully Lee, and the other injured players, will be ok for the camp time to begin. Lee is a good guy, hard worker, and should really prosper for his new team.

Bottom line, if the BEST players do not want to represent the USA, I say that USA needs to develope a NATIONAL team of College and possible High School players.  Will we win every year, probably not, but when we do make it feel like the "Miracle on Ice" and then every 10 years or so we throw the world a DREAM TEAM.

The Knicks are incompetent,  They traded for Cutino Mobley, found out he had a heart condition and could never play again and then with that knowledge completed the trade.    The reasons they did is because Cutino's situation was better than the contract they traded out, in hopes to sign LeBron James, which did not happen.

One year they had the highest payroll in the league and the worst record.   That is not just bad luck.

Stephen Curry Stays Healthy!

OK folks, News Flash: Stephen Curry Stays Healthy! Of course, playing for the Team USA will be invaluable experience for Steph, and players are made to play and not sit around hoping not to get injured. It's just that with the Warriors freak injury plagued year last season, and now news of David Lee, GS fans might get a little nervous. I know, I know: Wow, the future is suddenly looking brighter for Golden State ... er ... oops. But when has fretting ever achieved a single positive thing? So, why don't we just shed this fear and expect the best: Steph kicks ass and brings back the Championship for the USA, gets more valuable experience on winning and more deserved notoriety, comes back completely healthy and continues to develop into the great point guard of the NBA, and finally helps elevate the W's to ethereal planes.
