David Kahn's summer of love continues.

After giving Darko Milicic the gift of $20 million dollars, then giving Miami the gift of being able to sign a bunch of talented veteran free agents by taking on Michael Beasley, and giving the Utah Jazz a great up-and-coming low-post scorer in Al Jefferson, the Wolves GM has now decided to give a big ol' gift right back to the NBA.

The NBA today fined David Kahn $50,000 and the Minnesota Timberwolves $50,000 following Kahns' comments on Thursday regarding Michael Beasley and his marijuana use. As we told you when we brought you Kahn's comments on the Minneapolis radio show, and via Tom Ziller, the CBA prohibits team officials from discussing drug use with the media.

You're going to be hard pressed with someone that thinks that what Kahn was saying was wrong. It was an honest observation about a player he's taken a lot of flack for trading for. He's a kid that's gone through a tremendous amount of scrutiny, and Kahn was just being honest and reasonable about his situation. But the CBA outlines this stuff pretty clearly, and for a good reason. Drug use is a personal issue, and especially with someone with a history of it like Beasley, openly discussing it not only hurts his brand and business ventures, but it harms his family and image. Even if everyone thought the same thing about Beasley, there's a huge line between referencing it vaguely and outlining it specifically. Kahn should know that.

Then again, he should also know not to give Darko Milicic $20 million and not to acquire Luke Ridnour when he has four point guards on roster, but hey, it's Kahn.

Congratulations Matt, you are becoming the Pete Prisco of cbs NBA writers. Al Jefferson made the Timberwolves worse. That trade was good for Minnesota because he sucks on defense, is hurt all of the time and spends his time away from the team getting DUI's. Acquiring an average veteran point guard is not a bad move for a team that has a couple (not four) PG's on the roster. The Wolves deserve to be ripped for everything that they have done over the past few years but give Kahn a break, he has to rebuild the mess that McHale made out of this team and he deserves four years in my opinion to get this team back to being competitive. I am still waiting for Matt Moore to come up with something that is borderline intelligent and fact based.

Thank you sir for your recycled views on our T-Wolves. "We have a million point guards."  "20 mil for Darko?" Brilliant stuff. Oh, and by the way, it's only 16 mil guaranteed, which is around what the Houston Rockets paid the 30+ year old Brad "I need pot to sleep" Miller, who plays exactly the same position to come off the bench until Yao breaks another pinky toe.

It's not easy to be a Wolves fan.  They had a strong nucleus years back with KG, Stephon Marbury, Tom Gugliotta, etc.  There drafts have been terrible over the last 10 years and they don't seem to have a clue on how to build a winning team.  Frustratingto say the least!  Then the trade of Al Jefferson!! What to get more PG's.  Unbelievable!

Kahn fined $50k for Beasley comments

Hey Matt, where do I send my application to cbs?  I mean I'm pretty sure I could bash a team like the Twolves and not mention that Al Jefferson doesn't fit there system, had acl surgery and also got two first round picks not bad at all?  And do you really think that if Minny didn't get Beasley the Heat wouldn't have got James they would have just dumped him on somebody else.  And as many people have already said Rubio is in Spain for another year and don't be surprised if Minnesota trades one of there point guards this year.  So tell me Matt how much do you get paid I think I could under cut you to get a job, but when they see how bad of a writer you are they hopefully will just fire you.

Like previously said, I'm sure Matt Morre doesn't read any comments but couldn't a co-worker a friend or relative let him know that Rubio is NOT on the Wolves roster?  This is the third piece of crap composed by him regarding the Wolves and he keeps insisting they have half a dozen (or so) pg's on the team.  Criticizing things you don't know about can only make one look like an ass...PLEASE someone alert Matt Moore that he has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to the Wolves roster.  Or perhaps cbssportsline should just fire him and find someone who actually pays attention.  Hell i could script an arcitle about how i think Elvin Hayes is likely to have a big season for the Bulllets in 2010.

I don't expect Moore-on reads these comments, but I'll say this anyway.  Shut up about Darko, he played well for the Wolves last year do so Kahn wanted to keep him.  If the Wolves didn't give him a deal like that, some team in Europe would have.

Four point guards?  Maybe he's too Moore-onic to know we traded Ty Lawson and Nick Calathes.

This fine just helps to confirm the NBA front offices simply don't like the T-wolves in my mind.

And who, other than the Moore-on, has 'given flack' for the Beasley trade?  As far as I'm aware it is pretty much universally agreed that the Beasley trade has been a complete and total steal.  Maybe he's just pissed about the Heat acquiring the three stooges and feels it was the Wolves that enabled it.  Of course if the Wolves hadn't, somebody else would have taken a deal that cheap and we just got lucky Kahn was the quickest to pull the trigger.
