Bulls ready to sign McGrady

The Bulls are prepared to sign Tracy McGrady if he proves to be healthy enough for their liking in a workout Monday and can convince the team he is willing to accept a bench role, Marc Stein of ESPN reports .

McGrady is a player willing to take a paycut as Stein mentions, mainly because he made $23 million from New York and Houston last season. And if Chicago is to sign him, he'll surely take a significant dip in pay.

McGrady is still just 31, but has battled numerous injuries over the past few season. Regardless, he'd be a welcome addition to the young Bulls that are definitely looking for some scoring punch to go with Derrick Rose and Carlos Boozer. Last season in New York he averaged just 9.4 points per game in 24 starts, but that was coming back from serious microfracture surgery on his left knee. At times, most notably his first game with the Knicks, McGrady showed flashes of what could be if he can get back in shape and regain just a little bit of his form.

T-Mac worked out for the Clippers last week as well, but that appears to been more of a show in order to persuade Chicago to pull the trigger in offering up a deal. McGrady has long wanted to play in Chicago as he nearly signed with the Bulls in 2000 and drew serious interest before the draft in 1997.

McGrady would be Chicago's sixth acquisition this offseason, joining Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer, C.J. Watson and Kurt Thomas. The Heat made the big splash this offseason, bu quietly, the Bulls are building a pretty scary roster. If McGrady is added and can somehow summon some of his talents back, the East will be very interesting this year.

R You Nuts! Tom Thibidoux is a defensive coach who now has Boozer,McGrady, and Korver. They cant play defense! Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic. HELLO! Unless those three teams disapear Chigo has NO shot, Garnet, Pierce, Wade, James, Cheap shot Howard in Orlando, Superstars win in the NBA not good teams with a bunch of good players, Keep wishing but until Allen, Garnett, Pierce, Oneil, Wade,Lebron and crew retire or get hurt, Chicago stays in the minors!

If he signs with the Bulls I would love their depth even more than I do now. I think Mcgrady has something to prove to the rest of the NBA. Can anybody say "sixth man award?"

Bulls ready to sign McGrady

I was at O'hare yesterday picking up my father on his return flight home. I saw Tracy Mcgrady at the baggage claim waiting for his bags and and he was walking fine with no limp. I know that isn't much when it comes to playing professional ball but man if this guy is healthly and signs a low contract I cannot see the problem with bringing him onboard with a one year contract. If he messes chemistry up just release him it would of been worth the risk. I say if his workout looked good and your best player is all for it why not give it a shot? This guy can come off the bench and if he can stay healthy can legitmately get this team over the top.

TomThibidoux is a defensive coach. The chicago bulls signing Kyle Korver and tracy McGrady? They are both shooters who arent quite sure how to find the defensive end of the floor! I like the Heat, Magic and Celtics chances alot better than this Chicago team! Unless  Kevin Garnett,  Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, and Cheap shot elbows Howard all go down, Chicago has no shot!

Bulls ready to sign McGrady

We have a very versatle lineup, T-Mac would be the cherry to this offseason sundae.

PG Derrick Rose / C.J. Watson / Brewer (in certain scenarios)
SG Ronnie Brewer / Tracy McGrady / Kyle Korver
SF Luol Deng / Kyle Korver / James Johnson
PF Carlos Boozer / Taj Gibson / Kurt Thomas
C Joakim Noah / Omer Asik / Thomas

This gives us our 12 man roster and it is deep, a lot deeper than that "super team" in Miami, called the Heat.

His problems haven't come from trying to carry a team, his problems have come when he is not in the spotlight.  Bad fit for Bulls, because he already said he thinks he can start for them.  It WILL be a problem for him to come off the bench and fill a role.  And being the crybaby he is, bad for the youth and chemistry of this team.

Coming off of MicroFracture surgery, Tmac had a down year. I think he has alot to prove this season so I believe this is a great pickup for Chicago. Saw Tmac this past Saturday having dinner with his family in Houston, I wished him the best in Chicago.
