Charles Barkley rips Miami's Big 3

We don't really have an official ruling on anything in the NBA until Charles Barkley speaks on it. So after LeBron's tweet about his mental hit list and all the talk coming from Miami, Chuck weighed in on ESPN Radio 103.3 with Galloway and Company.

"I heard about LeBron's little tweet today that he's remembering everybody who said anything bad about him," Barkley said. "And he said 'everybody.' Well, I want him to make sure that he puts my name on that (list) ... I thought that his little one-hour special was a punk move. I thought them dancing around on the stage was a punk move, and I thought he should've stayed in Cleveland. Him joining Dwyane Wade 's team was very disappointing to me."

See, that's why everyone loves Chuck. He tells it like it is, or at least, how he sees how it is. Barkley continued:

"He's got enough people kissing his ass with his family and all the people who work for him," Barkley said. "We don't have to tell him what he wants to hear all the time ... That one-hour special, them jumping around on stage like punks, that wasn't cool to me. From a basketball standpoint, I wish he had stayed in Cleveland, and if he takes that as criticism, so be it."

It's hard to disagree with anything there. Everything turned quickly into a spectacle which only made the new trio in Miami that much easier to dislike. And it doesn't sound as if Chuck is exactly terrified about landing on LeBron's mental list of death. As he put it towards the end of the interview, "He knows where I'll be, I don't run. I'm on TV every week, I'm easy to find."

Charles Barkley rips Miami's Big 3

Those who say Charles did the same thing LeBron did are missing one fine point. Charles, like Garnett and others who've gone to teams to win a championship, did it at the end of their careers. What LeBron has done is what i've always hated about the teams like the Yankees and players like Alex Rodriquez ...he has sold his soul to win a championship. Unlike Kobe, or Duncan, or others who have won championships through hard work, LeBron has joined forces in Miami because he couldn't make the sacrifice or do the hard work it takes to win one the way it should be done in Cleveland. He didn't want to wait for them to build a championship caliber team there, so he sold his soul and abandoned his team and the fan who loved him for the success he couldn't wait for in his home town. Miami will be hated everywhere outside of Cleveland, just as the Yankees and A-Rod are hated outside of New York. And in the end i'm betting Miami win still not win a championship with this trio, and this year Kobe Bryant and the Lakers will win it all again.

Charles Barkley rips Miami's Big 3

As a long time Suns fan I am a fan of Charles - or was. I hate the thought of being a bigger fan of a rival than I am of a guy who gave me my best year as a fan. But like so many others have said here this is some of the most hypocritical bs I have ever read. What Chuck did to the Suns blows away anything Bron did. Chuck was under contract with the Suns - Bron was not under contract. Chuck threw Colangelo under the buss - Bron didn't have anything bad to say about the Cavs owner (but is certainly justified now). Chuck left for the Suns biggest rival at the time who kept the Suns from returning to the Finals twice! The Heat might be in the same conference but it's not like anyone could call them big rivals.

Charles has been nothing but an embarrassment since he played for the Suns and has no room to talk.

You're missing the point.  Charles could've done the same thing, but he didn't.

As far as the DUI's, you're right - bad moves by Charles.  But he owned them.  LeBron is still blaming everyone else and hasn't owned up to anything.

THere's a big difference. When Barkley went to Houston, and Malone to LA for that matter, they were no longer elite players and were at the end of their careers.

LeBron is in his prime, and is generally regarded as the best player in the league (or at least second to Kobe). Aside from maybe Moses Malone, I can't recall a player of his caliber leaving a title contender to go to another franchise where he'd be regarded as the No. 2 guy. Sad what this guy's done to his legacy.

KG never asked for a trade.  He had a no trade clause and he refused to waive it at first.  When the Celtics got Ray Allen he said he would waive his no trade clause and MN was the one that wanted to rebuild, KG didnt demand out. KG was a class act in MN at all times thats why the fans still cheer for him when he comes back.  The only thing KG did bad to MN was make Mchale look smart for finding him even though Mchale was just lucky and that allowed Mchale a lot of extra leeway and years to totally destroy the franchise.

I now officially hate Lebron James.  I was never the biggest fan, but now...He is already the biggest choke artist EVER!  For someone who has never won anything, he surely has a high opinion of himself.  I don't so much care that he left Cleveland, I mean seriously...Cleveland?  But to punk out and join D Wade just to make a run at a title in his prime because he doesn't have the backbone to win one on his own...disgusting.  And then to just spit on the Cleveland fans the way he did.  He's classless.  Almost as classess as his mom for doing the nasty with D. West...I digress.  And Charles Barkley is about the only good thing that remains about the NBA. The product is garbage.  Hence why Shaq is still allowed to hang around. And can I just say that it's not getting any better.  Chuck is all that league has left.  David Stern tried and tried to make "King" James the face of the league, but Kobe stood up, slapped him upside the head, and said, "gimme my trophy!" And I seriously dislike Kobe. Chuck is the best.  He openly admits he was an a-hole for a portion of his career, but has used those mistakes to form his own opinions and pokes fun at himself.  And I respect him far more than someone who gives himself a moniker at age 16 and then after 7 years of failure in the NBA tucks tail and runs under D Wade's umbrella.  I hope he blows a knee!

I agree with Charles on this one.  Superstars should compete to be the best, not join up.  If not the NBA  should just be an 8 team league?

If all of the superstars  took the Lebron approach the NBA could combine and make 8 super teams and all of the other cities can just forfeit their teams.  That would be great for the league.

As for Barkley switching teams trying to get a ring it was not the same as Lebron. Barkley did not turn his back on his home town on a nationally televised broadcast and rub it in their faces for an hour and then go dancing around on stage about it.  Lebron was a free agent and was entitled to leave if he desired but the way he did Cleveland fans was wrong. If it was not a punk move what was it?

Lebron grew up 30 minutes away from Cleveland and the Cleveland fans loved him and supported him since his high school days. In a struggling city with the poor economy the Cleveland fans spent their hard earned money to sell out that building every night to watch him play.  Lebron possibly would have been the greatest Sports figure in Clevelands history by the end of his career.

Yes but the fact that he was younger is the point.  Lebron is in his prime, SUPPOSEDLY capable of leading his own team to the promised land.  So far, he hasn't shown that he can be the guy on a championship team, and now we'll never know if he could.  Charles was disappointed from a basketball perspective that he bailed on HIS team and went to play on Wade's team.  There is nothing wrong with that.  It is a completely different story when a guy is past his prime and can't be the guy anymore and wants to go contribute to another project in order to win a championship.

Khalil72: "Wah WaAAAAAH! That's what all Miami Heat haters sound like. You just wish you had a GM like The Don Pat Riley who could get this done. This team is no different than the Show Time Lakers and the recent Boston Celtics. At these guys did it with class while the other cry babies demanded trades. At least James, Bosh and Wade honored their contracts. Unlike most pro athletes these days. Stop hating people."

Khalil, there are three possibilities here.....either you:

1) need to get yourself a dictionary
2) are totally blind to the reality because you're a Heat fan
3) have a very twisted idea of what "class" is.

Lebron acted with class? Really? You need to explain that one. lol
Undecided

Charles Barkley rips Miami's Big 3

Sir Charles was my favorite player. I liked him above Jordan, Clyde the Glyde, Pippen, Hakeem, etc. Barkley has always been honest. I like that trait in anyone and everyone. Now I just like him more as a commentator.
