Signs are pointing to 'Melo heading to New York

The Knicks had their eye on the summer of 2010 for a few years. It was their chance to return to glory by shelling out big money to big name free agents. In the end, only one signed and New York was left waiting for the next shot at a star.

Well, signs might be pointing to a certain Denver Nuggets stud leaning towards New York. Besides Ken Berger's report that Carmelo Anthony wants to play in the Big Apple, Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post says there are some serious smoke signals that 'Melo prefers New York.
These are some of the dots: He's selling his Littleton estate; the constant reports of Anthony telling friends that he wants to play for the New York Knicks; his New York wedding; his East Coast upbringing; summer trade talk that has cropped up twice in his time in Denver, which hasn't always made him feel wanted; oh, and not signing a contract that averages around $21.6 million per year for the next three years, a sizable amount of money that he may not be able to earn with a new collective bargaining agreement.

Anthony has connected some dots of his own. Even if he was completely happy with the Nuggets now, in three years he may look around at a team that is a shell of the one that reached the Western Conference finals in 2009. It could be young and inexperienced. It could be filled with mediocre talent. His NBA biological clock would be ticking loudly because he would be in his 10th season. There's no way he wants to start over 10 seasons into his career.

It's definitely to the point for Anthony that it's not just wild speculation. The interest appears to be real and even with a $65 million extension on the table from Denver, Anthony has said he's taking his time and also envoked the "do what's best for me and my family" clause.

On the other hand, Nuggets point guard Chauncey Billups is hopeful Anthony will stay in the Rockies. "I'm 100 percent hopeful," Billups told the New York Post . "It's between me and my guy. If y'all have a close personal friend and they're going through something and the media asks, you're not going to expose that. Y'all find out when he wants y'all to know."

No doubt Carmelo Anthony's free agency will likely be the major drama of next offseason. And much like New York's courtship of LeBron, there's some serious flirtation going on from both sides. But just The King's decision, we'll likely just have to wait until next year to get the final answer.

Signs are pointing to 'Melo heading to New York

Sounds to me like the "signs" involved are very confused kind of reminds me of the 1994 Classic, Dumb and Dumber..sure Jim Carey was following the right signs for 400 miles...he was just going the wrong direction!  LOL

Signs are pointing to 'Melo heading to New York

The media are starting to cook another big a deal of a story here so they can make a sequel to “the decision”. I really hope that ‘Melo will be classy enough to handle this kind of media circus unlike some self proclaimed queen of quitters.

Signs are pointing to 'Melo heading to New York

I will tell you where the sings are pointing, the sings are pointing to a lot of these super star caliber players ditching the Western Conference whenever they get the chance because they are saying to themselves, "Damn, I'm never going to get to the finals because the Lakers are gonna kick I, and my team's a** every single year until Kobe retires or Pau Gasol breaks a leg." Chris Paul was yearning to be traded to the Magic, now Anthony is talkin about New York. Amare Stoudamire already bailed after getting turned into an afterthought in Western Conference finals. These are the same most notable superstars to be somewhat recently bitch-slapped out of the playoffs directly by the Lakers.

Signs are pointing to 'Melo heading to New York

If Carmelo comes to NY he can have all the great marketing options like having a drink named after him at Starbucks. Carmelo Macchiato.  .....(crickets)

Anyway, yeah Carmelo and Tony Parker are a real possibility here. Chris Paul would be great, but no way he gets traded for anything less than a star package.

Melo + Amare + Tony = Knicks in the top 4 in the East, Maybe.

Melo to the knicks would at least beef up the East a bit more.  I am tired of seeing .500 or sub .500 teams continuing to via for the playoffs each year in the East, and all the power comes from the west with all the teams >.500 records...  Not to say that some of the west teams are really weak, however, the East has thier cellar dwellers as well...

Signs are pointing to 'Melo heading to New York

As a Knick fan, I listened to this nonsense with Lebron for TWO YEARS and look what happened. Outside of monetary reasons for marketing his "brand" there is no reason for anyone to want to play for this team. Management and ownership are a joke. So if the new 'Melo cologne on sale at Saks 5th Ave is what this guy wants, that's the reason he will come here. But I wont hold my breath. I'll just enjoy my 30 win season in 2010 and see what happens next summer.

Signs are pointing to 'Melo heading to New York

There is no such thing as journalism anymore.  "Signs are pointing..?"   WAIT until it happens, MORONS!  Every media outlet posts rumors as if they're truths now and nothing ever happens the way they "point."  MORONS, one and all-- SCAMerica has hit the Media Industry.  Why not? Everything else is one big lie too!

This is not about EGO , this is about fulfilling his own dream, to play for the Knicks.
Loyalty is what everyone else wants.
What is more important? Our desire for loyalty  or the players desire to accomplish his dreams.
