Bryant tells reporter knee is only 60% just three weeks from the start of the season.

We're not going to waste your time with recapping the first preseason game of the season. Long story short, lots of reserves, not much of starters, and Michael Beasley looked good. What was relevant came for six minutes and then afterwards. That six minutes was the total amount of time Kobe Bryant spent on the floor. More important was what he said afterword, as reported on Twitter by Mike Trudell of Lakers.com .
Kobe said his knee was "extremely, extremely painful during the NBA Finals." Said he feels better, but is at about "60%" tonight.
60%. Yikes. We're three weeks from the start of the season and the defending Finals MVP, the best player on the defending champions is 60%. That's got to be concerning, until you realize that the Lakers could literallly lose all of their games for the first month, and then still probably make the playoffs. If any team defines "the switch" outside of Boston, it's LA. Bryant was frustrated and disappointed he couldn't play more tonight , especially with the fans chanting for him, but the knee just couldn't go. It's a testament to his dedication that he wanted to play that much in a preseason game... in Europe. But that's what we've seen from Bryant.

For now, we'll hold off concern, even though being just over 50% three weeks out has to put just a few flags up. This is an important season for the Lakers, obviously, but it may be the most important. It's Phil Jackson's final year, Bryant's knees won't last forever, Gasol's getting older, and the competition keeps getting tougher in the West and out. With Andrew Bynum out till December, it looks like we won't be seeing the Lakers full strength for quite some time. I'm sure their fans are fine with that as long as they're still sterling in May.

Kobe's knee at only 60% right now

Ok. What if you are right and Jack Youngblood only played 2, did i say 2 whole games in the NFL with a broken leg. Not a bad finger. Not a bad knee. Not even a cracked bone in his leg. He played atleast 2 games in the NFL at de with a broken leg. He wore cast from Sunday to Sunday. They cut the cast off and he played the game. Getting pounded on by 300 plus pound me. But did he whine and say he was only 60%. Jack Youngblood was a MAN. To do what he did, we dont need a doc to check him to see if he had a set. NO crying. No whinning. Just lets play football. WITH A BROKEN LEG. Man up kobe, stop the crying you lil BI-CH.

Speak of bandwagon fans. How many of you clowns that are blasting me were Laker fans pre Kareem & Magic. Once they started winning rings then you clowns ran out and bought you a jersey. None of you answered the question about you clowns thinking kobe the rapist is better than Michael. Michael hurt or not took the shots late and MADE them. I am not a band wagon fan i just think  that the Heat have put a package together that the Lakers cant stop with Riley running the show.

god yer so stupid, he plays all season with a broken finger, and a jacked knee, and you question his toughness?  shut up!  Id to see you shoot a ball with a broken finger and still play better than the entire NBA.  I just wish we could have Kobe healthy all season, if that could ever happen, there definately will be some HELL broughten, lol   :) LeEgo is a beeeyatch  Adam Morrison has TWO more rings than LeEgo.  SCOREBOARD!!!  LOLOL

"He and the lakers got lucky with the Celtics. But they wont be as lucky with the Heat."

uh, SCOREBOARD, loser.  and if im not mistaken, thats 2 in a row going on three.  As for the Heat?  child, please.  and dont break your ankles when you jump off the Heat bandwagon mid-season when they are under .500.   Im interested to see what stiffs they bring in to fill the roster spots, its gonna be brutal, lol  Guarantee you they lose to Boston opening night.  Enjoy, loser.

It's not Kobe Bryant's fault that he is obsessed over by the media. The media is the one who puts out the stories about injuries and what not. Just because someone's injury is pointed out, it doesn't mean they are whining or making excuses! It just means they have an injury. Kobe Bryant is tough as nails, which is backed up by the fact that he plays through his injuries and performs at a top level. It's amazing how much success breeds envy and hatred!

Kobe's knee at only 60% right now

Yawn, wake me up with football season is over. The NBA is irrelevant in October. This is a non-story. Who care what % Kobe is at for a pre-season game? NBA games aren't even aired on regular TV until Christmas so that tells you something about games on October/November.

Kobe's knee at only 60% right now

It is rather obvious why you are at rookie level with posts like this. Imposter king? Are you serious? Kobe Bryant has five rings and a good shot at number six this upcoming year. He doesn't make excuses, he just stated the current and past condition of his knee. Kobe Bryant has played with injuries that sideline most NBA "superstars"! It is a little premature to crown the Miami Heat when they haven't even won a game yet! Nice reference to Tombstone though!

Right. Last season we had to hear about his finger all season, this season it will be the knee, the next it will be hemorroids.

The Lakers should rest Kobe the rest of the preseason, its not worth it to bring him back and the knee is not solid or strong enough, I would be even willing to say that they could sit him for two weeks AFTER preseason to make sure he is strong enough to go full strength.
