A moment of silence for Chris Andersen's inkbeard

How would one go about describing that? The Birdman finally got his "Free Bird" tattoo colored in and as pointed out on TrueHoop, a commenter on The Basketball Jones probably put it best: "It looks like he’s being choked to death by a psychedelic painting." Indeed.

With the addition of the filled in tattoo scarf, I'd say based on my calculations, Andersen has about 10 square inches of real estate left to cover (that we know of). Honestly, if you look back to even 2009, it's crazy to see how much The Birdman has added. I thought he had a lot of tattoos back then. But compared to now? He was just getting started.

I guess the final frontier for Andersen is his face, but he wouldn't be the first NBA player to go that direction. DeShawn Stevenson already put a backwards "P" and a crack on his last season. Plus, his mock tattooneck is nearly as extreme with a rendering of Abe Lincoln on his throat.

When I was in high school, I kind of wanted a tattoo. My mom would always say, "Yeah but think about when you're 60. Are you really going to want that still?" That sort of talked me out of it. I guess The Birdman's mom never said that to him.

The BEAST that was Rodman

Rodman could flat-out play the game. Yes, him and Chris Anderson have their similarities, but Rodman was a MONSTER. Chris is a nice role player. Rodman was a starter, a defensive machine, and the kind of player who got into guys' heads. Just ask Alonzo Mourning.

Now, Chris, yo, tell me that pretty rainbow beard washes off?

A moment of silence for Chris Andersen's inkbeard

He looks like an idiot. Not that I have a problem with tattoos or even neck tattoos but at least get something that looks good. He looks like he passed out drunk last night and his friends had a field day with the colored markers. I expect the other side of his neck to say WILLY, followed by a drawing of a whale jumping over a rainbow.

Anyone remember Dennis Rodman? No one really cared about all the other stuff he did long as he produced on the court, go ahead Birdman get 500 tats , long as you keep bringing down those boards the Nuggets won't care.

What it REALLY says

Chris Anderson's tattoo is saying, "Look at me, Ma! I got a... big, colorful tattoo on my neck. Look at me! Look at me! Hey everybody, look at MEEEEEEE!"

I've always said let your game do the talking, not your tattoos. Wait a minute - I think I figured it out. This is Chris' attempt at intimidation. It can be hard to effectively intimidate NBA players. This takes head games to a whole 'nother level.
